Pacific Coast Wrestling show from McArthur Court, Eugene, September 14^th

 

Tom Zenk vs. Mando Guerrero

 

These two got the crowd going with a fast paced match that Zenk won after hitting the Missile Dropkick

 

Doug Somers vs. Chris Adams

 

Adams won with the Superkick

 

The Great Muta vs. Jimmy Snuka

 

These two went at it fist and fire, and both men looked like they might take the match at different points, but Muta was able to catch Snuka coming off the ropes with a spin kick, then raced up the turnbuckles to hit the Moonsault and pull out the victory

 

The Thundercats (Norman Smiley & Too Cold Scorpio) vs. Cabin Fever (Manny Fernandez & Grizzly Boone)

 

The Thundercats did everything they could to keep Fernandez in the ring, but once he was able to make the tag, the big Grizzly took no prisoners and pinned Smiley after a belly to belly suplex

 

Bam Bam Bigelow, Nick Busick & Crusher Blackwell vs. Jake Roberts, Waylon Mercy & Nord The Barbarian

 

This was a long and crazy match, with former partners Blackwell and Nord contributing much to the insanity . Jake Roberts was fixing to put the match away when he had Busick set up for the DDT, but Busick blocked it by grabbing a hold of the ropes and then countering with a backdrop. He then tagged in Bigelow, who hit a slingshot splash and got the win.

 

Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Chavo & Hector Guerrero © vs. British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside)

 

Their upset victory over Flamboyance earned the young men of British Steel a title opportunity, and they were clearly set to make the most of it. They kept the Guerreros on their toes throughout the match, but the experience of the champs proved to be the deciding factor, as Hector was able to catch Regal in the Guerrero Clutch and successfully defend their titles.

 

California Title Match : Al Perez © vs. Bob Orton

 

This was a rematch from Phoenix Firestorm, and Orton was looking to make Perez' title reign a short one, but the Latin Heartthrob was ultimately able to hit the Ally-Copter and get the one two three.

Good follow up from Firestorm. 

Hot Stuff wants to prove he's ready for a title shot. He proves it as he overcomes the power of the Anvil.

Taylor and Adams teaming up as heels is awesome! These guys along with Hart can have a pretty dominant run. They get a nice win over the Thundercats.  

Seeing Billy Jack with the Playboy Club is so bizarre but that's what makes this such a great story. This is going to be a lot of fun to follow. 

I gave you props for what you did with Busick. Things just got way better with the teaming of Busick and Bam Bam!  These guys are just meant to be a team. I think they're going to get some gold. 

Tatum and the Vice Squad do a number on Texas Red. I think Red is going to dismantle them one by one. 

To the Coliseum, 

Southern Boys get some payback and their biggest win to date.

Gary Hart has Taylor and Adams rejuvenated. 

Badd Co. get the win tonight but things might be different when Anvil gets healthy. 

Gordy bounces back from his title loss and it's only a matter of time before he gets a rematch.

Despite their differences, Rose and Billy Jack are a pretty damn good team. 

Credit to Steamboat for keeping his word and gives Hot Stuff a promised title shot. To bad it was ruined by the interference. I have a feeling there will be more to this.

I liked the series of  matches in Eugene. 

Zenk and Mando is the type of opener that would totally fire the crowd up. 

Man, both Taylor and Adams are on a roll. 

Muta vs. Snuka to me is the most intriguing match on the card. For some reason I just loved this booking. Moonsault vs. Superfly Splash. Moonsault wins tonight. 

Thundercats are on a bit of a losing streak but if there's one thing I've learned about Pacific, is never count anybody out. I do love the Boone/Fernandez pairing and I told you what a great name Cabin Fever is. 

Nothing like a wild 6 man tag and with these 6 men involved we knew it would be just that. Bam Bam is back and gets the decisive pin on Jake. 

British Steel are going places but right now they're gaining some valuable experience and the Guerreros will give them a lot of that. 

Outstanding main event. Perez proves his title win was no fluke. These guys have been putting on some classic matches and their feud has been top notch.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Cow Palace , San Francisco , on ESPN / TSN,  September 19^th

 

California Title Match : Al Perez © vs. Mr. Hito

 

Al Perez worked had to climb the ranks of Pacific Coast Wrestling, and that work paid off when he won the California Title from Bob Orton. But that prize came at a price, with everyone now coming after him for their own shot at the title. Mr. Hito, the assassin of Gary Hart International, clearly had serious designs on taking the belt for himself, opening up strong and lacing into Perez's legs with vicious kicks before taking him to the mat for leglocks. Perez dug deep into his well of technical skills to work his way out of the hold, but Hito was back on him and the two struggled to get the other to submit. The two battled back and forth, but neither was able to take the advantage long enough to put the other one out, and the bell rang signaling a 15 minute time limit draw. Perez certainly has his work cut out for him to survive this formidable challenge.

 

Ed Wiskowski vs. Randy Rose

 

Having beaten the Dog Pound at Phoenix Firestorm, Wiskowski and Doug Somers are now looking for revenge on the rest of the Hollywood Vice Squad, with Randy Rose and Jimmy Del Ray stepping right into the line of fire. Both men's partners were in their corners as they slugged it out, and it was all the ref could do to keep control both inside of the ring and outside. At one point, Rose sought to take advantage of the ref's distraction by nailing Wiskowski with a low blow kick, but the Polish Prince blocked it and then levelled him with a big lariat. He then followed up with a Face First Piledriver that put the Ravishing One down for good. A big victory, but I don't think the men of the Playboy Club have seen the last of the Hollywood Vice Squad.

 

Grizzly Boone vs. Nick Busick

 

Nick Busick has scored some impressive victories and really gotten the fans behind him in his short time in PCW, but he has never met a challenge as big and ornery as Grizzly Boone. Boone was an incredibly tough nut for Busick to crack, being too big for many of his power moves and tough enough to absorb a lot of Busick's punches and clotheslines, firing back with interest. Busick was still able to get the big man off his feat with a body slam, an impressive display of strength that was only able to get a 2 count. He tried to wear him down with a bearhug, but wasn't able to get his arms around the massive Grizzly, and his attempts were interrupted by an attack by Boone's Cabin Fever teammate Manny Fernandez. The ref called for the DQ while the two double teamed the man from Powerhouse Hill, but they headed for the hills when Bam Bam Bigelow ran out. If these two teams are going to war, nobody is going to want to get caught in the crossfire.

 

Steven Regal vs. Hector Guerrero

 

The young gentlemen of British Steel have started to challenge for the Golden State Tag Team Titles held by Chavo and Hector Guerrero, and while the Guerreros have prevailed so far, there has been a sense that the Englishmen have been steadily gaining on them. Steven Regal certainly seemed out to prove himself in this singles match with Hector Guerrero, and to his credit, he managed to keep Hector on the defensive for much of the match. The more experienced Guerrero was gradually able to get back control , luring him into the corner and catching him in the Guerrero Clutch to score the pinfall. Hector actually seemed somewhat impressed and tousled his hair in a playful manner by way of congratulations, but Regal was in no mood to be condescended to and swatted his hand away. If the Guerreros keep making British Steel madder, they may come to regret their smugness.

 

Ricky Steamboat & Eddie Gilbert vs. The Hart Foundation

 

While Gilbert has let it be known that he is still looking to challenge his friend Ricky Steamboat for the Heavyweight Title, the two have found a common group of enemies in Gary Hart International. For this match, Jim Neidhart came out with his shoulder heavily bandaged from injuring it the week before, so Bret Hart carried much of the match for his team. He provided many of the surprises of the match as he went after Steamboat with a vengeance, scoring a number of near falls on the champ and doing a lot of damage. The two were battling on the outside when Neidhart started bowling Gilbert over with crushing tackles, but Gilbert was ultimately able to catch him with a hot shot and score the pinfall. Gilbert and Steamboat prevailed, but the Hart Foundation had certainly made their mark, and after the match it was announced that Bret Hart would get his own shot at the championship in Oakland.

The Thundercats (Too Cold Scorpio & Norman Smiley) vs. Flamboyance (Lanny Poffo & Ron Starr)

 

Starr pinned Smiley after catching him coming off the ropes with an elbow to the face

 

Ed Wiskowski & Doug Somers vs. Jimmy Del Ray & Randy Rose

 

Wiskowski hit the face first piledriver on Rose to score the victory

 

Badd Company vs. Chris Adams & Terry Taylor

 

Adams blindsided Tanaka with a Superkick to the back of the head to get the win

 

Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Manny Fernandez

 

Bigelow won with a slingshot splash

 

Leo Burke vs. Bob Orton

 

Orton won after a backbreaker

 

Nick Busick vs. Grizzly Boone

 

Busick managed to catch Boone in a Spinebuster Slam in a move that got a gasp from the audience, but Fernandez and Orton immediately rushed in before he could go for the pin, leading to a DQ. Leo Burke and Bam Bam Bigelow swiftly followed and the two sides battled until security came out and forced them to return to the locker room.

 

Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Buddy Rose & Billy Jack Haynes © vs. The Pacific Warlords (Don Muraco & Jimmy Snuka)

 

A crazy match that ended in a no contest with both teams brawling in the ring.

 

Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Ricky Steamboat © vs. Bret Hart

 

Hart really took it to Steamboat, focusing in particular on his legs and keeping him in a figure four leglock for a very long stretch. Steamboat was able to find his way out of it, and when Hart tried to re-apply it, Steamboat snared him in an inside cradle and just barely hold his shoulders down for the three count. Steamboat came out with his title intact but the young upstart had given him a very stiff challenge.

Roberts was going for the DDT, but Rotunda blocked it and reversed it into a Samoan Drop for the upset pinfall

 

Too Cold Scorpio vs. Mando Guerrero

 

Scorpio reversed an attempted German Suplex by Mando into a rollup and managed to get the one two three

 

Eddie Gilbert vs. Jim Neidhart

 

Gilbert caught Neidhart with a Lou Thesz Press to score the pinfall

 

Brutus Beefcake vs. Terry Gordy

 

A battle between two big powerful men where Beefcake was going for the Final Cut (running kneelift) but Gordy cut him off with a big lariat, then followed up with a piledriver to pull out the win

 

Pacific Television Title Match : Texas Red © vs. Rick Steiner

 

The brawny Steiner managed to score some impressive slams and hard hitting clotheslines on the champ, but Red was still able to hit the chokeslam to successfully defend his title

 

2/3 Falls Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Chavo & Hector Guerrero © vs. British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside)

 

1^st Fall : Chavo pinned Brookside with a German Suplex

Perez will defiantly have a long line of challengers gunning for his title. Hito is one of them.

Playboy Club is getting the best of the Dog Pound...for now. 

I'm looking forward to Busick, Bigelow and Burke brawling with Cabin Fever and Orton up and down the coast. 

I hope when Neidhart comes back 100%, we can see a Hart Foundation/Steamboat-Gilbert rematch. 

I love seeing Adams and Taylor as the arrogant heels. They play their parts so well. 

I would have paid just to watch Rose and Haynes battle the Pacific Warlords. That match will always draw in this territory. 

Bret Hart shows he can go as he gives the champ Steamboat quite a match. 

Rotunda pinning Jake is a pretty big win. I'm sure Jake and Waylon wont forget this. 

Even though he recently lost the Pacific title, Gordy is looking as devastating as ever. Hopefully he gets a rematch with Steamboat. 

Texas Red continues to have an iron grip on the TV title. 

Fun 2 out of 3 falls tag match to end the night. British Steel is learning a lot and even managed to score a fall on the Guerreros. I hope the Guerreros have a lengthy run because they're so entertaining.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , on ESPN / TSN, September 26^th

 

Badd Company vs. The Dog Pound (Brian Knobbs & Rick Steiner)

 

Pat Tanaka and Paul Diamond are on a bit of a high, coming off a high profile victory over the Hart Foundation. Knobbs and Steiner, meanwhile, are looking to bounce back after some tough losses at the hands of the Playboy Club. Knobbs and Steiner had a fair sized chip on their shoulders and were extremely aggressive with Badd Company. Missy Hyatt's men have been seasoned by some intense feuds so were not fazed by this, but no matter what they threw at them, the Dog Pound just kept coming. Knobbs looked like he was going to put them away when he got Tanaka over his shoulder for a running powerslam, but Takana was able to escape with a slide down his back and a roll up that just barely held his shoulders down for the three count. Badd Company came out on top in this one but you can bet that the Dog Pound will keep coming after them.

 

Larry Cameron vs. Nord The Barbarian

 

Cameron gave a very good accounting of himself in a recent match with the former Pacific Heavyweight Champion Terry Gordy, but still ended up coming out on the short end of that bout. Looking for redemption, he is taking on one of the biggest men in PCW, Nord The Barbarian. Nord was certainly not about to roll over for Cameron, and the two mastodons went at it with an unrelenting fury that had the ref looking like he wanted no part of the match. The ring shuddered and shook with all of the big slams and power moves that each man threw at each other, but neither would stay down for long. Cameron tried to take a moment to regroup, but Nord dove through the ropes at him with a huge flying tackle that sent them both crashing into the barricade. When they were able to get to their feet, they threw lefts and rights until the ref called for a double countout. A brutal battle that ended up in a stalemate … for now.

 

Steven Regal vs. Chavo Guerrero

 

The Guerrero brothers initially didn't seem to think much of the challenge presented by British Steel to their Golden State Tag Team Titles , but after a hard fought recent 2/3 falls match, the champions are taking the contenders much more seriously now. Regal lost a close contest last week to Hector Guerrero, but wasted no time in immediately throwing the gauntlet down for Chavo. Regal definitely had some fire in his eye as he not only swapped move for move with Chavo, but every time Guerrero tried to sneak in a cheap shot, Regal fired back with blistering punches. Chavo really didn't know what to do with the young British firebrand. Regal's temper wound up getting the better of him as he started laying down punches when he caught Chavo in the corner, and he responded to the ref's attempts to separate the two by shoving the official to the mat. The ref had no choice but to disqualify Regal, a result that disappointed both Regal and the fans. Regardless, the Guerreros will have to face the fact that this challenge from British Steel will not be going away any time soon.

 

Pacific Light Heavyweight Title Match : Lanny Poffo © vs. Too Cold Scorpio

 

The Thundercats have been on a bit of a slide since losing the Golden State Tag Titles to the Guerreros, and Flamboyance haven't made things easy on them, coming out on top in several recent matches with Scorpio and Norman Smiley. That hasn't stopped the determination of the rookie team, and Too Cold Scorpio has boldly challenged Lanny Poffo for his Light Heavyweight title, with neither Smiley nor Poffo's partner Ron Starr to be present. Poffo arrogantly accepted the challenge, figuring he could beat Scorpio just as easily in a singles match as in tag action. While Scorpio managed to land a number of impressive moves on Poffo, for the most part Leaping Lanny's confidence seemed justified, with the champ keeping just one step ahead of the champion for much of the match. When he took down Scorpio with a dropkick and then went up top for the Skydrop, that seemed to be it for the match. But Scorpio pulled up his knees at the last second and Poffo landed hard. Scorpio managed to make it up back to his feet, climbed up top and hit a flying legdrop on the prone Poffo. One … two … THREE!!!! The crowd was jubilant as Scorpio took the Light Heavyweight belt and raised it above his head.

 

Ricky Steamboat & The Southern Boys vs. The Freebirds

 

Steamboat took the title from Freebird Terry Gordy in what some have called the greatest match in PCW history. Ever since then, Gordy has been extremely vocal in his demand for a rematch. In this match, Gordy kept insisting that he be tagged in , and directed his aggression to Steamboat whether he was in the ring or not. Armstrong and Smothers did their best to hold him off, but Gordy was not in the mood and flattened Armstrong with a lariat and followed up with a huge piledriver that took the match for the Freebirds. Gordy's efforts paid off for him as it was announced that he would get his rematch at the LA Sports Arena card.

Badd Co. has a pretty good win streak going. They might have earned themselves a title shot in the near future. 

Nothing like a good brawl between 2 powerhouse wrestlers like Cameron and Nord. 

The Guerreros are getting a lot more then they bargained for with British Steel.

TITLE CHANGE! Lanny's solid run comes to an end at the hands of Scorpio. this has been an exciting division to watch and no doubt Scorpio will continue that. 

Gordy gets the fall in the 6 man tag and now is squarely focused on Steamboat and his title. That match should draw big in LA.

Pacific Coast Wrestling show from the LA Sports Arena, Los Angeles, on ESPN / TSN Pacific Super Cards, September 27^th

 

The Southern Boys vs. Cabin Fever (Manny Fernandez & Grizzly Boone)

 

The Freebirds snuck in the ring while the ref was distracted and Michael Hayes took Armstrong down with a running bulldog , making him easy prey for a running splash by Boone that gave the win to Cabin Fever

 

Nick Busick & Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Randy Rose & Jimmy Del Ray

 

No matter what underhanded tactics they tried, the former tag champs could not corral Busick and Bigelow for long , and Bigelow crushed Rose with a slingshot splash for the victory

 

Leo Burke vs. Bob Orton

 

A hard hitting match between two tough veterans that ended when Orton caught Burke in a running lariat and was just barely able to keep him down for the one two three.

 

British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. The Pacific Warlord (Don Muraco & Jimmy Snuka)

 

British Steel used cat and mouse tactics to keep a step ahead of the Shiekh's men and gave a very good accounting of themselves, but in the end, the size and experience of Snuka and Muraco proved to be too much to overcome, and Muraco pinned Brookside after a belly to belly piledriver

 

Pacific Tag Team Title Match : Billy Jack Haynes & Buddy Rose © vs. The Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Buddy Jack Roberts)

 

The Freebirds were determined to cheat their way to the Tag Team Titles , and might just have pulled it off too. But Steve Armstrong showed up at ringside and started chasing Buddy Jack around the ring. While the ref was distracted by this, Hayes had Rose set up for a running bulldog, but Tracy Smothers came off the top rope and hit Hayes with a jawjacker. He then put Rose on top of Hayes and dove out of the ring. The ref turned around and made the count, giving the victory to the champs.

 

Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Ricky Steamboat © vs. Terry Gordy

 

For this long awaited rematch, Gordy was clearly in no mood to trifle, wasting no time in going after Steamboat. The big Freebird landed some hellacious blows on Steamboat, and for a while it seemed like the Dragon's title reign might well be a short one. But Steamboat weathered out the storm and came back with fire in his eyes, hitting his trademark armdrags and working to neutralize the Asiatic Spike. This war went back and forth for a long time, with the fans on the edge of their seats for most of it, until Steamboat was able to make his way to the top rope and come off with a flying cross body press. He was able to keep Gordy covered for the vital three count and kept his hold on the title with a hard fought victory.

Mike Rotunda vs. Jake Roberts

 

Rotunda won by DQ when Jake DDTed the ref

While Gary Hart caused a distraction, Adams blindsided Kabuki with a superkick to the back of the head for the win

Muta ducked under the Fivearm and came back with a spin kick to the jaw to score the pinfall

 

California Title Match : Al Perez © vs. Mr. Hito

 

Both men went to a 20 minute time limit draw

 

Pacific Television Title Match : Texas Red © vs. John Tatum

 

Tatum managed to wear down the champ by digging deep into his bag of dirty tricks, but the champ ultimately prevailed by catching him off the ropes with a Western Lariat

I always know when Pacific comes to LA, the fans are going to get a big card. 

Freebirds get heat early and cost the Southern Boys their match. 

If Busick and Bigelow stay on this path, they will get some gold. 

Solid match between Burke and Orton. These are guys who always have their working boots on. 

I loved that you paired up Muraco and Snuka as a heel team. Big fan of this team. 

Southern Boys get some great payback and cost the Freebirds a chance at the titles. 

Steamboat vs. Gordy, the rematch we've been waiting for! Gordy of course brings the fight but in the end Steamboat's resilience wins the match. This match solidifies Steamboat's reign. 

To Santa Barbara, 

I would hate to be a Ref for a Jake match.

Poffo gets a little satisfaction by getting the fall. 

Muta is rising the ranks.

Perez is finding out he's going to have some serious competition gunning for his CA Title. Hito is giving him some tough matches. 

Texas Red getting main event spots show how much faith the bookers have in him. This kid is going places.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, on ESPN / TSN , October 3^rd

 

Badd Company vs. The Dog Pound (Brian Knobbs & Rick Steiner)

 

After their loss to Diamond and Tanaka last week, Knobbs and Steiner immediately demanded a rematch as soon as possible. They came out with an even more fiery ferocity, and Badd Company were on the defensive for much of the match. Badd Company were able to come back with their rapid fire , double team moves. But right in the middle of their rally, Tanaka leapfrogged over Knobbs, only to get levelled by a massive clothesline by Steiner. Knobbs held up Diamond while Steiner got the pinfall. The Dog Pound had evened the count with Badd Company and don't look to stop there.

 

Mike Rotunda vs. Waylon Mercy

 

It seems like so long ago that Mercy was known as Dan Spivey and was Rotunda's best friend. So much has changed in that time and they are now the bitterest of enemies and there seemed like no trace of their friendship remained as the two tore into each other. Mercy's mentor Jake "The Snake" Roberts was at ringside, but Rotunda stayed laser focused on Mercy throughout the match, and the two waged a mighty battle indeed. Mercy was set to put Rotunda down for good with the DDT, and took a second to grin at The Snake, who nodded in approval. But Rotunda was playing possum and caught Mercy in a small package that just barely got the three count. Mercy and Roberts were both furious, but Rotunda was defiant in his victory, having clearly taken all he intended to take from the dastardly duo.

 

Ed Wiskowski & Doug Somers vs. Cabin Fever (Manny Fernandez & Grizzly Boone)

 

Cabin Fever have been racking up some impressive wins of late, and are gaining momentum to try to challenge for the Pacific Tag Team Titles held by Billy Jack Haynes and Buddy Rose. Rose's teammates in the Playboy Club, Wiskowski and Somers, looked to put up a road block in their progress, but the men of the Crazy Gang were having none of it. No matter what they did, they just couldn't seem to put a dent in the big Grizzly Boone. But it was Manny Fernandez who especially seemed to have a fire lit in his belly, going after Wiskowski and Somers like his raging bull namesake. He managed to bust open Somers before knocking him out with the Flying Burrito, getting the win for his team. Can anything stop Cabin Fever on their march to a title shot?

 

Pacific Light Heavyweight Title : Too Cold Scorpio © vs. Ron Starr

 

Too Cold Scorpio shocked many last week when he took the Light Heavyweight Title from Lanny Poffo. This week, Starr was looking to immediately bring the title back to Flamboyance, by hook or by crook. Starr is a savvy veteran, but the youth and speed of Scorpio was a lot to try and keep down, and he found himself resorting to try and punch the fight out of the new champion. This caused his concentration to lapse long enough for Scorpio to counter his attempted clothesline with a crucifix that held him down for the three count. Scorpio is clearly determined to prove himself a worthy champion, and has made a very good start on that.

 

Brutus Beefcake vs. Terry Gordy

 

Terry Gordy had his shot at regaining the Pacific Heavyweight Title last week, but came up short. He clearly had a chip on his shoulder from that and was looking to take out his frustration on Brutus Beefcake. Beefcake, for his part, was not about to be anybody's punching bag and kept slugging it out with big lefts and rights. The two men battled back and forth, and the ring shook from their dueling power moves. Beefcake went for broke when he had Gordy caught in the corner and came in for the Final Cut (running kneelift), but Gordy dodged at the last second and Beefcake went hard into the turnbuckle. Gordy then hit a second rope kneedrop and scored the pinfall on Beefcake. Gordy was victorious but it took a lot to get the win.

I like that so many of us give some attention to the Light Heavyweights.  It just rounds out the cards so nicely from all the big slugfests

Cabin Fever made a serious statement tonight and are closer to getting that tag title shot.

Scorpio continues to excite the fans and gets a solid defense over Starr.

After his recent loss to Steamboat, I thought Gordy was going to plow right through Beefcake but Beefcake gave him a battle and Gordy had to earn this one. I'm curious to see where Gordy goes from here.

In a match between the top contender for the Heavyweight title and the top contender for the Television title, Gilbert managed to defeat Tatum with a Lou Thesz Press

 

Larry Cameron vs. Nord The Barbarian

 

Both men were counted out while brawling outside the ring

 

Pacific Television Title Match : Texas Red © vs. Ron Starr

 

Starr put up a tough fight but Red was able to successfully defend his title with the Chokeslam

 

Leo Burke & British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside) vs. Chavo, Hector & Mando Guerrero

 

An intense six man that ended when Hector was able to catch Brookside in the Guerrero Clutch

 

Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Ricky Steamboat © vs. Bret Hart

 

After his impressive performance in his previous challenge, Bret Hart earned himself a second shot at the champ, and followed it up by continuing his merciless attack on Steamboat's legs. He was also especially vicious with his shots, hitting particularly nasty forearms and suplexes that clearly took their toll on the champ. Steamboat was able to battle back , first using his chops to hold off Hart's assault then able to hit some suplexes of his own, gritting it out in spite of the damage done to his legs. There were many near falls and the crowd were on the edge of their seats throughout the match. Steamboat was ultimately able to hit a sunset flip out of the corner and hold Hart down for the one two three.

A very tight contest where Burke managed to pin Mando after a belly to back suplex

 

Jerry Blackwell, Nick Busick & Bam Bam Bigelow vs. The Crazy Gang (Bob Orton, Manny Fernandez & Grizzly Boone)

 

A wild , chaotic brawl that ended when Orton took advantage of the ref being distracted by clobbering Busick with the ring bell, allowing Boone to hit a running splash to pull out the tainted win.

 

Badd Company , Ed Wiskowski & Doug Somers vs. The Dog Pound (Brian Knobbs & Rick Steiner), Randy Rose & Jimmy Del Ray

 

A long and hard fought match where Wiskowski was able to score the win with a face first piledriver on Randy Rose

 

California Title Match : Al Perez © vs. Terry Taylor

 

The former TV champ gave Perez his toughest challenge yet, going hold for hold with the Latin Heartthrob. He went for broke when he tried to nail Perez in the corner with the Fivearm, but Perez dodged out of the way just in time, then countered with a German suplex that gave him the three count.

Another two great cards.  Would have loved to see Steamboat and Hart both go at it in their prime.  It made me wonder how many times they faced each other and Steamboat was undefeated against Hart in 11 matches.  It is all timing and who is getting the current push.

Speaking of title contention, Gilbert is on his way to a title match after defeating Tatum. 

Steamboat is going to be a great champ. He can fight Gordy one night and Bret the next. The man knows how to adapt. 

Zenk takes a DDT on the floor! I couldn't imagine having to focus on Waylon while Jake is on the outside. 

Good to see Burke pull out a nice win. 

Wild 6 man tag! It took a lot to put Busick down but the Crazy Gang managed to do it. 

Things get wilder with an 8 man tag. Wiskowski must of been satisfied with that win. 

Classic TV title match ends the night as Perez scores an impressive win over former champ Taylor.

Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN , October 10^th

 

Bam Bam Bigelow & Nick Busick vs. Waylon Mercy & Nord The Barbarian

 

Bigelow and Busick have turned into a force to be reckoned with of late, with their opponents struggling to match up to their power and size. Mercy and Nord, no small fries themselves, found themselves out matched by the strength and aggression of their popular opponents. No big surprise that they turned to dirty tactics, with their mentor Jake Roberts sneaking around the ring, yanking Busick off the ringside apron and driving him head first into the ring steps. Roberts then started to put the boots to Busick until Leo Burke rushed out and ran him off before helping Busick to his feet. This caused sufficient distraction for Bigelow that he was looking the other way when Nord blind sided him with a running knee to the back. Nord followed up with a running kneedrop that got the one two three. Mercy, Nord and Roberts laughed at their ill gotten victory, while Burke and Busick were furious, and Bigelow seemed confused by what had gone down.

 

The Southern Boys vs. Flamboyance (Lanny Poffo & Ron Starr)

 

While Bigelow was confused by the results of the last match, it was Steve Armstrong who was confused by this one, as well as the fans. Flamboyance were the first out to the ring, preening and smug as usual. The Southern Boys were out next, but out of nowhere , Tracy went racing ahead of Armstrong, swiftly ascending the top rope and hitting a surprise Jawjacker on Starr. He then dropkicked Poffo out of the ring and went for the cover, scoring the shocking pinfall. A decisive victory for the Southern Boys, but what on earth possessed Smothers to fight it single handed.

 

The Great Muta vs. Bret Hart

 

For this match, Bret was joined at ringside by his Hart Foundation partner, Jim Neidhart. Neidhart had made only sporadic appearances in the past few weeks due to a shoulder injury, but looked to have made a full recovery as he paced around the ring. He was a constant source of menace to young Muta as his attention was split between both men of the Hart Foundation. Neidhart proved to be the deciding factor in the match, as when Muta went up top for the Moonsault, the Anvil shoved him hard, causing him to tumble backwards to the mat. Hart capitalized with a double leg cradle to get the three count. After the match, Hart and Neidhart continued their assault on Muta until his father, The Great Kabuki, rushed out , swinging his nunchaku, and ran them off. The Harts may have one this time, but may have bitten off more than they can chew but brining Muta's family into the fray.

 

Buddy Rose, Billy Jack Haynes & Doug Somers vs. The Crazy Gang  (Bob Orton, Manny Fernandez & Grizzly Boone)

 

Cabin Fever, the team of Manny Fernandez and Grizzly Boone, have set their sights on the Pacific Tag Team Titles currently held by Rose and Haynes. This time out, they have brought in their Crazy Gang boss, Cowboy Bob Orton, to prove their worth against the champs and Doug Somers. Orton and Boone were particularly tough nuts for Rose's team to crack, but for this match, it would be Fernandez who left his mark. The Ragin' Bull savaged Somers, busting him open before nailing him with the Flying Burrito for the win. Rose and Haynes have been fairly dominant champions so far, but Cabin Fever could just be the team to take the belts away from them.

 

Pacific Television Title Match : Texas Red © vs. John Tatum

 

Tatum has been a persistent thorn in the side of the TV champ, with the other members of the Hollywood Vice Squad constantly sticking their noses in. Well, it seems like Texas Red is truly fed up with them, and this match shown that he has finally had enough. When Randy Rose and Jimmy Del Ray tried to interfere, he grabbed them by the throat and dragged them into the ring before clotheslining them both back out of the ring. He then grabbed Tatum by the hair and hit the Heart Punch , contemptuously putting his foot on his unconscious body as the ref made the three count. Tatum remained completely out of it even as Del Ray and Rose dragged him out of the ring to the locker room.

Really interesting show here with a lot of angles moving nicely.  Must say that Bully Busick and Bam Bam is a fun team.  Snake Roberts can cause havoc at a moments notice.  This could get very interesting.

Muta vs Hart is a great match and a few years away from being HUGE!  Like how this one is going to turn into a Family Feud.

Buddy Rose is still Pacific Coast!  Awesome job with him.

Tatum unconscious at the hands of Texas Red just seems right!

A crazy, out of control match that the champs won by DQ when the ref got caught in the middle of an Avalanche by Boone on Rose

Red successfully defended his title with a chokeslam

 

2/3 Falls Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Ricky Steamboat © vs. Eddie Gilbert

 

1^st Fall : Steamboat pinned Gilbert with an inside cradle

2^nd Fall : Gilbert pinned Steamboat with a victory roll out of the corner

3^rd Fall : Both men went to a 45 minute time limit draw

Busick was trying to get Snuka in the Busick Bender (stump puller) when Jake Roberts snuck in the ring and executed a DDT, then put Snuka on top of Busick to give the win to the Pacific Warlords

This match went to a no contest with all four men brawling in the ring at the same time

Hayes pinned Armstrong after hitting a running Bulldog

 

Mike Rotunda, Tom Zenk & Al Perez vs. Jake Roberts, Waylon Mercy & Nord The Barbarian

 

This was an intense match with a lot of hatred going into it that ended when Nick Busick charged into the ring when the ref was distracted and hit a massive Spinebuster Slam on Jake Roberts. Rotunda then rolled up the Snake to get the win for his team.

 

Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Chavo & Hector Guerrero © vs. British Steel (Steven Regal & Robbie Brookside)

 

A long and gripping match that had the fans rocking and rolling throughout. The young Englishmen put up an incredible challenge to the Guerreros for their titles, but in the end the brothers prevailed when Hector was finally able to put Brookside away with a butterfly suplex
