[2021-02-05-WWE-SmackDown] Cesaro vs Daniel Bryan

And with this, the first truly great match of 2021 has arrived. These two had an already awesome match a few weeks prior also on SmackDown, but this one was even better. Cesaro & Bryan get just a bit over 4-minutes, and goddang do they make the most out of every single second they're given; it's super intense & physical right from the get go with no feeling-out bullshit -- both guys are here to settle some business. It doesn't take long for Bryan to start working on Cesaro's arm, which is obviously superb in all of its focused viciousness, and Cesaro sells it beautifully. Bryan busted out a couple of really neat counters during his control period, namely the backslide one & especially him countering Cesaro's Uppercut-frenzy into an armbar, ultimately transitioning it into the LeBell Lock. Truly awesome stuff, and that continued when it came time for Cesaro to handle some business; the way the end started for D-Bry with Cesaro digging those knees deep into his back was magnificent, and the way Cesaro continued the attack w/ that big torture-rack-backbreaker-thing, followed by the SWING & then making it all pay off with that Sharpshooter finish? Absolutely fucking sick. Bless these two. What a wonderful match. ****

This is different from their previous match this year as this is more of an intense 5-minute sprint with them going balls to the wall and pulling out some wild stuff. Cesaro gets his head busted hardway here again catching an elbow to the side of the head off a top rope dive to the outside. Bryan’s counters in this were great as he countered an elevated European uppercut into a backslide and a European uppercut into a flying armbar and then transitioned in the the LeBell Lock. Bryan also brought the throwback armbar grab face stomps which looked great. Cesaro’s Atlantida into an elevated backbreaker leading to an extensive giant swing and a sharpshooter was a great finish. I thought this was really good, but I preferred their previous match to this one.

Did you see what caused Cesaro to start bleeding? They didnt focus on it so it was apparent it wasnt part of the match.

I'm pretty sure the wound originally is from his head ricocheting off the post in the previous Smackdown match, on the kick before the one he dodged that lead to his leg work on Bryan in that match. Which ties beautifully into the finish of this match- you could feel a real shift in momentum in that one when Cesaro gave up the sharpshooter to transition to a crossface. Not gonna happen this time around! This was a perfect companion piece to the January match. Bryan's hyper aggressive strategy makes so much sense. These matches play wonderfully back to back.

But yeah I'm not sure if the question was more "when does the cut reopen in this match" in which case disregard that comment.
