PWF TV Episode #1

Airing on 11/9/89

The Sportatorium

Tampa, Florida

Hosts: Jim Ross & Joe Pedicino

Show opens with Jim Ross and Joe Pedicino sitting behind that familiar desk from Florida wrestling in the past. Ross welcomes everyone to the debut episode of the Professional Wrestling Federation and he promises some great action in the upcoming hour.  Pedicino chimes in that they will soon be crowning champions here in the PWF and says we’ll hear more details on that in this broadcast.  Ross pitches it to the ring for the opening bout.

Match One-

The New Breed (Chris Champion/Sean Royal) vs. The Southern Rockers (Rex King/Steve Doll)

Ross lets us know that Doll & King are a brand new team here in Florida having wrestled in other territories with other partners previously, he acknowledges the New Breed’s past success as a tag team and mentions they competed in the Crockett Cup this year.  The New Breed seem to be the heels, but they aren’t overly leaning into that role at this point in the match. A fun fast paced match to open the TV show that sees the New Breed steal a win when Champion pinned Rex King with his feet on the ropes!  They got a lot of boos leaving the ring as the show went to commercial.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

When we return from the commercial break, Pedicino is joined by Sir Oliver Humperdink who is flanked by the Great Kabuki and a trio of guys wearing camo army outfits with Commando style black grease paint stripes across their face (Ross interjects on commentary that these men appear to be Fidel Sierra, Doug Gilbert, and Ron Starr) Humperdink says the Mercenaries have a match today against Kendall Windham and the Rich Cousins, Johnny and Davey and that we will see just how dangerous these men are, and why THEY will be taking home the tag team titles in the upcoming tournament.  Hump also says that everyone who has ever witnessed Kabuki in the ring already knows how dangerous he is, but if anyone needs reminded….they soon will be very soon!

Before going to the ring for the next match. Jim Ross talks while a graphic appears on screen promoting ‘Thanksgiving Homecoming’ coming up on Thanksgiving night at the Fairgrounds here in Tampa and he announces there will be a one night single elimination 16 man tournament to crown the PWF Heavyweight Champion and next week we will learn who many of those participants will be!

MATCH TWO-

Dory Funk Jr. vs. Thunderfoot #1

Funk gets a smattering of applause as the bell rings and he attempts to shake hands with Thunderfoot to start the match to no avail as Thunderfoot slaps his hand away.  Ross puts over the rich history of the Funk family on commentary and tells of Dory Jr being a former World Champion.  He announces that Dory will in fact be competing in the tournament on Thanksgiving night for the championship.  Pedicino mentions that some of the top talent from across America are looking to compete here in the PWF.  Before they can say much more, Funk submits Thunderfoot with the spinning toe hold.

As Dory Funk Jr is leaving ringside, a familiar face to most wrestling fans, Precious makes her way over to the desk as Ross politely mentions she isn’t on the format and asks “how can we help you”? Precious tells him, “don’t be condescending, you know who I am, and all these people know who I am!” She goes on to say that she’s here to let everyone know that “Gorgeous Jimmy” is on his way to Florida and that she wants to enter him in the PWF Championship tournament.  Ross informs her that she needs to “speak to Mr. Matsuda about such matters, we’re not the matchmakers.”  Precious threatens to “slap his face off” for “getting smart” with her.  Security takes Precious by the arm and escorts her out of the Sportatorium.  Ross apologizes for the “interruption” and pitches to another commercial.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

As we’re coming out of the commercial break we get a pre-recorded promo from Joe Pedicino promoting a card next Saturday night in St. Petersburg featuring a one night 8 team tournament to crown the PWF Tag Team Champions featuring: The Rock & Roll RPMs, The New Breed, Johnny & Davey Rich, “Hollywood” John Tatum & Jack Victory w/Dark Journey, The Southern Rockers, and more!

MATCH THREE-

The Great Kabuki w/Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. Charlie Pitts

Kabuki sprays the green mist into the air before the match starts. Ross & Pedicino put over what a dangerous man Kabuki is and discuss the different forms of martial arts he’s mastered.  They also spend some time talking about Humperdink’s history in Florida over the years as meanwhile Kabuki is just dismantling this inexperienced kid right out of Matsuda’s “training academy” which they plug as well.  Kabuki tires of toying with the rookie and puts him away with the ‘asiatic spike’.  Humperdink yells incoherently into the camera as we go to another break.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

We return to a video set to the tune of the Fat Boys song, ‘Wipe Out’.  We pan across a beach when into the frame comes a VERY large man wearing an orange bucket hat, a floral print Hawaiian shirt, and Bermuda shorts. The camera follows him as he’s walking along a pier.  The music lowers as a skinny kid approaches him and says, “Sup Dude, what’s your name?”  He replies, “They call me, Cannonball Grizzly”.  The kid says, “Why do they call you that?”  Grizzy smiles and says “Hold my hat”....he runs to the edge of the pier towards a bunch of people swimming and yells “CANNONBALL” as he bails off into the water making a huge splash!  The camera pans back and a graphic reads, (“Son of the Beach” Cannonball Grizzly is on his way to the PWF)

MATCH FOUR-

“High Chief” Sivi Afi vs. Robbie Rose

Ross and Pedicino really sing the praises of Sivi Afi and build him up as a big deal and really put over the “High Chief” moniker.  This was a relatively short match that eventually saw Afi put away Rose with a splash off the top rope. Ross mentions that Afi is a “heavy favorite” in the PWF Heavyweight title tournament.

We see another promo for ‘Thanksgiving Homecoming’ on Thanksgiving night at Tampa Fairgrounds and then cut to Joe Pedicino who is with Kendall Windham.  Windham says that he and the Rich Cousins are going to shut down Humperdink’s Mercenaries coming up next.  He also mentions he has his sights set on the PWF Heavyweight Championship and that he has a legacy to live up to and that he will stop at nothing to rise to the sames heights that his Father and Brother did, right here in Florida!

COMMERCIAL BREAK

MATCH SIX-

MAIN EVENT- SIX MAN TAG TEAM ACTION

Johnny & Davey Rich/Kendall Windham vs. The Mercenaries (“Dirty” Doug Gilbert/”Rotten” Ron Starr/”Assassin” Fidel Sierra) w/Sir Oliver Humperdink

Jim Ross points out that Ron Starr is the most experienced man in this match and clearly the “captain” of his team.  He speculates that Johnny Rich is the more experienced man on his side of the ring. The match starts off very fast paced with the babyfaces tagging in and out frequently and getting the better of things until Starr distracted referee Mickey Jay allowing Humperdink to trip Davey Rich which Gilbert quickly took advantage of, giving the Mercenaries control of the match, they did a good job of “cutting the ring off” not allowing Davey Rich to get the tag.  After several minutes of “heat”, Rich managed to leapfrog over Starr and get a tag to Kendall Windham who came in “like a house of fire”!  All six men ended up in the ring, as the referee struggled to restore order, Humperdink jumped up on the ring apron, this allowed Kabuki to slide in and spew the green “mist” into the eyes of Windham, allowing Starr to give him a school boy roll up as Hump got down off the ring and the referee turned around in time to count the 1-2-3!

Ross incredulously yells, “the House of Humperdink stole this one, Joe! Is this the kinda thing we have to look forward to with this bunch?”  Joe replied, “If past history is any evidence I would say we have a LOT more of this kinda thing in the future unless we can get someone in here who keep some kinda order!”

Ross: “Well folks, I guess that remains to be seen. Thanks for joining us for the inaugural episode of the PWF and we’ll see you back here next week for more action…right here from the Sunshine State!”

The New Breed steal the first win in PWF.

Hoss with a solid showing.

Precious shows up and immediately makes a scene.

I like that PWF is wasting no time establishing tournaments to crown their champions.

Interesting angle for Grizzly.

The High Chief is looking strong.

This episode did a great job setting up how dangerous the House of Humperdinck is.

PWF is off to a strong start.

It's so great to have you back! It's also great to have Florida back in the game. I'm sure you'll set the territory on fire.

New Breed is the team to watch.

It's Florida, so you have to have Humperdink and Kabuki.

Dory brings immediate credibility.

COOL! Can't wait to see Precious and Jimmy Jam strut their stuff.

A lot of big name teams gunning for the gold.

Hahahaha love Cannonball's new persona. Fits well here.

I always liked writing for Afi. This is a place he could really shine.

Thanks to Kabuki's deadly mist, Humperdink's men steal the main event.

Looking forward to the crowning of the first champ. I can see a few names holding the strap.

This is going to be a lot of fun.

PWF TV Episode #2

Airing on 11/16/89

The Sportatorium

Tampa, Florida

Hosts: Jim Ross & Joe Pedicino

Show opens with highlights from last week’s main event with Kabuki spewing the green mist into the eyes of Kendall Windham allowing him to get rolled up by Ron Starr to score a win for Sir Oliver Humperdink’s Mercenaries! We then see the opening montage and join Jim Ross and Joe Pedicino at the desk in the Sportatorium in Tampa.

Ross welcomes us once again to the PWF and lets us know that as a result of what happened here last week, in this week’s main event we’ll see Kendall Windham taking on the Great Kabuki with Sir Oliver Humperdink! Pedicino chimes in that Dark Journey will have her tag team of “Hollywood” John Tatum and Jack Victory in action this week, we’ll also see the in-ring debut of “Son of the Beach” Cannonball Grizzly, plus there’s going to be a four corners match to crown a PWF Junior Heavyweight Champion as it will be Denny Brown vs. Mando Guerrero vs. Scott Armstrong vs. Mike Graham and that should be outstanding. Ross adds that this week, Precious who barged in last week unannounced has actually been granted time this week to speak to us about whatever it is that’s on her mind. Then he pitches it to the ring.

MATCH ONE-

Joe Lightfoot vs. Thunderfoot

Joe Pedicino jokingly mentions the show is kicking off with a “battle of the feet” which Ross blows right past.  Ross says that Lightfoot is a “talented young Native American” who has been around a few years and is determined to make his mark here in the PWF.  Pedicino adds that he has it on good authority that Lightfoot has been signed to compete in the PWF Title Tournament on Thanksgiving night and reminds everyone that tickets are available now! Ross says that after this match, they will officially announce the first six participants in the tournament, as Ross finishes that statement, Lightfoot pins Thunderfoot after “tomahawk chop” to the head off the top rope. Pedicino calls it, “an impressive win”.

A graphic comes on the screen for the “Thanksgiving Homecoming” coming to the Tampa Fairgrounds on Thanksgiving night.  Already signed to compete in the sixteen man one night tournament to crown a PWF Heavyweight Champion will be: Dory Funk Jr, Johnny Ace, “High Chief” Sivi Afi, “California Stud” Rod Price w/Dark Journey, Kendall Windham, and The Great Kabuki w/Sir Oliver Humperdink.  More names to be announced next week here on television

COMMERCIAL BREAK

As we return from the break, Joe Pedicino is joined by Dark Journey along with John Tatum, Jack Victory, and Rod Price. DJ tells Joe to take a look at the “unstoppable force” she has created here in the PWF. Pedicino says that Tatum and Victory will be competing tonight in St. Petersburg for the PWF tag team titles and that it was just announced that Rod Price will be competing in the tournament for the Heavyweight title on Thanksgiving.  Price interrupts Joe to say, “Correction, I won’t be COMPETING for the title, I will be WINNING the title! Mark that down, fatty!” Tatum joins in, “That’s right Panama Joe, tonight Jack and I will take the tag team titles, Rod will take the Heavyweight title and that will make Dark Journey the most powerful woman in wrestling!” Journey says, “If you don’t believe it, just watch this!” Joe adds, “Looks like they are headed to the ring, Jim..back to you.”

MATCH TWO-

“Hollywood” John Tatum/Jack Victory w/Dark Journey & Rod Price vs. Jeff Williams/Delbert Plezing

Ross spends the first couple of minutes putting over Tatum and Victory’s accomplishments in recent years in other territories. Pedicino wonders out loud what has brought these guys and Price together with Dark Journey here in Florida.  Ross says he doesn’t know but he’s been told that Price, the self professed “California Stud” is not a fan of Cannonball Grizzly and that Price told him that “Grizzly must be from Florida because we don’t allow fat slobs on the beaches of California” Pedicino responds with, “I guess I better change my vacation plans” which gets a chuckle out of Ross who says he might need to as well. After being in control for most of the match, there is one mishap where Victory goes to give Plezing a backdrop but Plezing catches him with a sunset flip for a count of two, Plezing comes up and hits Victory with a pair of back to back dropkicks, then he goes to hit the ropes but gets tripped by Price, Victory crawls over and tags in Tatum who moments later puts away Plezing after a “super kick” to score the win.

Precious makes her way out to the desk, accompanied by a large roughneck looking man that she introduces as her bodyguard, “Mean” Mike Miller.  She says Miller is here to ensure that “NO ONE, not even your so called security” puts their hands on her.  Ross asks what is her business for being here. Precious replied, not that it was any of his business, but she’s here to let everyone know that she met with Hiro Matsuda this week and she can confirm that, “Gorgeous Jimmy” has been signed to compete in the PWF Heavyweight Championship tournament at Thanksgiving Homecoming and that he will be leaving with the gold!  She says she’s also here to scout the PWF Jr Heavyweight title match, as she may be interested in signing a junior heavyweight as well.  Pedicino goes to ask Precious another question but Mike Miller leans in and states, “Miss Precious will not be taking anymore questions. Good day.” With that, Precious smirks and turns her nose up as “Mean” Mike Miller escorts her away. Ross shakes his head and says “let’s take a break.”

COMMERCIAL BREAK

As return from the break, a promo for tonight’s PWF Tag Team Title Tournament airs letting us know what the first round matches will be tonight in St. Petersburg as we crown our first champions:

MATCH THREE-

“Son of the Beach” Cannonball Grizzly vs. Thunderfoot #2

Grizzly makes his way down to the ring with a surfboard on tucked under his arm to his “Wipeout” theme song from the Fat Boys and the crowd seems to be having fun with it. Ross mentions that Grizzly is “one of the most popular wrestlers on the PWF roster”. Early in the match Cannonball gives Thunderfoot a shoulder tackle and when TF rolls over on his stomach to try and get up, Grizzly stands on his back and hits a pose like he’s surfing to a big pop from the crowd. This match doesn’t go long as eventually Grizzly shoots TF into the ropes and hits a belly to belly suplex he calls the “wipeout” and then goes up to the top rope, signals to the crowd and after yelling, “CANNONBALL”, he comes off with a senton splash for the 1-2-3!

After the match, Grizzly is in the ring celebrating to his music while standing on the surfboard in the ring mimicking surfing when from out of where, ‘the California Stud’ Rod Price hits the ring and attacks him from behind. Price puts the boots to Grizzly while Dark Journey sets up two chairs in the ring across from each other.  Price then lays the surf board across the two chairs, he then picks up Grizzly and proceeds to suplex him on the surfboard breaking it in half as the crowd boos heavily. Price looks into the camera and says, “Now, that’s what I call a WIPEOUT!” Dark Journey and Rod Price leave the ring as several people enter the ring to check on Cannonball.  Ross pitches to another break.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

As we return from the break, Jim Ross lets us know that Cannonball Grizzly is being attended to in the back by “medical attendants” and he will try to have an update on Grizzly’s situation before the end of the program but right now we’re going to the ring for our four corners match to crown a PWF Junior Heavyweight Champion.

MATCH FOUR-

FOUR CORNERS MATCH

PWF JR. HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

Mike Graham vs. Denny Brown vs. Mando Guerrero vs. Scott Armstrong

As the match begins with Graham and Brown in the ring, Pedicino explains that the winner will be the first man to score a pinfall therefore guys will be looking to tag in at every opportunity.  Ross adds that Denny Brown is the only one involved in this match that the referee better keep an eye on as far as breaking the rules goes.  The match is a very fun fast paced match that sees guys reaching in and tagging themselves in by slapping the shoulder of one of the competitor’s shoulders when they get too close, Ross acknowledges that this wouldn’t normally be allowed in a standard tag team match but considering the circumstances referee Mickey Jay is letting it go.  Brown manages to use some underhanded tactics behind the referee’s back on Scott Armstrong to gain control of the match (hitting Armstrong in the throat with a foreign object he pulled out of his tights) Mando and Graham try to point it out to the referee but he’s too busy trying to keep them out of the ring to check Brown. After being in control for a few minutes after cheating, Brown motions to the crowd that he’s about to put Armstrong away, but Mando Guerrero manages to slap him on the shoulder and tag himself in….Brown argues with the referee as he puts him out of the ring….Mando goes over and helps Armstrong up off the mat seemingly to help him over to tag out to Graham but instead he quickly gives him a school boy roll up but to the shock of both announcers, Guerrero grabs a handful of Armstrong’s tights and scores the 1-2-3 to become the champion! The ref hands Mando the belt as he looks to the camera and holds his index finger up to his mouth in a “shh, don’t tell anybody motion” as Graham is losing his mind as he was the only one in the ring who saw what Mando did.  Ross says that he’s surprised that Mando would take the low road like this.  Pedicino points out that this isn’t first time we’ve seen a Guerrero “bend the rules” to win a championship. Meanwhile, Graham is trying to get in Mando’s face while the referee holds him back with Mando playing innocent saying, “What did I do? Why are you so mad?” (then smiling at the camera when the ref isn’t looking before leaving ringside to a mix of boos and cheers from the fans)

COMMERCIAL BREAK

When we return from the break, Joe Pedicino is with the new PWF Junior Heavyweight Champion Mando Guerrero who is all smiles.

Pedinco: “Frankly, Mando I’m a bit shocked by your actions.”

Mando: “What actions? Because I didn’t hold his hand and help him tag out? This is wrestling…this was a four corners match….I was competing with Scott Armstrong just like the others.”

Pedicino: “I’m referring to you pulling his tights.”

Mando: “I’m afraid you’re mistaken, I didn’t pull anyone’s tights. I saw an opportunity and I took it.”

(Mike Graham storms over)

Graham: “Mando, I’ve known your family to be a lot of things…but not a bunch of lousy liars and cheaters! I want the first shot at that title and I want it soon!”

Mando: “First of all, Mikey…don’t bring my family into this unless you want me to do the same.  Second of all, I’m no cheater….Am I an opportunist…yes! Am I a cheater…no! As far as you getting the first shot…and getting it soon? Who have you beat in the PWF? I’ll have to study the list of contenders and then see how you measure up, Mikey.”

Graham: “You call me Mikey again and I’ll knock your teeth out. What do you mean who have I beat in the PWF? We just started this thing? I haven’t had time to beat anybody yet!”

Mando: “Exactly, then you see where I’m coming from, right? Let’s give it a few weeks and see how that win/loss record is looking after the first of the year………Mikey.”

(Graham lunges at Mando and nearly takes out Joe Pedicino in the process as security swarms to break things up, Mando strolls away all smiles as Graham is livid!)

MATCH FIVE-

MAIN EVENT

Kendall Windham vs. The Great Kabuki w/Sir Oliver Humperdink

As Kabuki is standing in the ring twirling his nunchuks, Kendall Windham comes rushing out with a patch over one eye from last week’s mist attack and goes right after Kabuki! Ross says, “Kendall Windham is coming in hot for this one, fans!” Windham managed to catch Kabuki off guard knocking him down in the corner causing him to drop the nunchuks and Windham starts putting the boots to Kabuki, stomping him repeatedly, Humperdink leaves ringside for a moment and returns with all three of the Mercenaries who the hit the ring and attack Windham, just as they are getting the best of Kendall, Johnny & Davey Rich rush in to help even the odds! A big brawl ensues as Jim Ross informs us we’re out of time and that they’ll see us next week for more PWF ACTION from the Sunshine State!

Lightfoot is quickly looking to make a name for himself here. The battle of the feet comment cracked me up.

DJ has put together quite a stable. It's great seeing these guys back in our game.

I don't think to many people will mess with Precious with Miller watching her back.

Both tournaments are loaded with talent. Can't wait to see who walks out with the gold.

LOL, the Son of the Beach gimmick is great. This gives Grizzly a new resurgence in our world. Things quickly turn sour with Price wiping him out. A heated feud has started.

Fun match with the Jr. title on the line. Mando was great here. I'm going to enjoy his run as the sneaky heel. However, Mikey is looking to end the run soon. Nice set up.

PWF has another hot feud going with Humperdink's men, Kendall and the Rich's.

Florida is catching fire!

The first round match ups show how competitive the tag team division already is in PWF.

Fan favorites, the Rich's advance to the finals as the heels Tatum and Victory get lucky with a bye.

Cannonball gets his revenge but gets triple teamed. Luckily the Richs saved the day, setting up a heated finale for the straps.

"The Opportunist" what a great moniker for Mando.

Rich's win the titles and send the fans home happy. The Rich's have always been a fun part of our world, so it's cool seeing them holding gold.

Really enjoyed the booking for the tag title tournament. Classic angle with the heel finalists getting a bye to the finals.

Cannonball gets the win but DJ's boys make him pay for it.

Mando shows why they call him "the opportunist".

Going to Florida has done wonders for Johnny and Davey's careers.

PWF TV Episode #3

Airing on 11/23/89

The Sportatorium

Tampa, Florida

Hosts: Jim Ross & Joe Pedicino

The show opens with a still shot of Johnny & Davey Rich holding up the PWF Tag Team Championships immediately after winning them in the tournament finals in St. Petersburg, Florida. We then go to the opening montage and then to our hosts Jim Ross and Joe Pedicino.  Ross reminds us we’re merely days away from ‘Thanksgiving Homecoming’ where we will crown our first PWF Heavyweight Champion as sixteen men will compete for the championship!  Pedicino chimes in that in this week’s main event, we’ll see a rematch from the finals of the PWF Tag Team Title tournament as Johnny and Davey Rich will defend the titles against “Hollywood” John Tatum and Jack Victory.  Ross says that Precious has let it be known that “Gorgeous Jimmy” will make his PWF in ring debut, today!

MATCH #1:
“California Stud” Rod Price w/Dark Journey vs. “High Chief” Sivi Afi

Ross perhaps exaggerates the truth a bit by saying this match “could be a main event anywhere in the country” but it should be a solid bout none the less.  Afi finds out he can’t quite match strength with Price so he tries to use his quickness and manages to gain the advantage early on.  Afi stays in control for a couple of minutes but after Dark Journey attempts to trip him, it distracts him long enough for Price to blindside him and take control of the match, Price turns up the heat on the Chief and really works him over for a few minutes when suddenly, “Wipeout” by the Fat Boys starts to play over the P.A. system in the Sportatorium…..Price gets extremely agitated and starts looking all around and yelling, “BRING IT ON GRIZZLY! COME ON YOU COWARD!”, as Price is looking all around for Cannonball, Afi slips Price into a school boy roll up for a three count!!  Ross exclaims, Sivi Afi just slipped one over on the ‘California Stud’! Pedicino adds, “Thanks to Cannonball Grizzly!”  Ross replies, “I didn’t see big Cannonball out here? Did you Joe? He’s pretty hard to miss. I just heard his favorite song, that’s all.”  Meanwhile, Price is losing his mind in the ring as is Dark Journey as we head to our first commercial break!

COMMERCIAL BREAK

As we return from the break, we get a promo for the ‘Thanksgiving Homecoming’ on Thanksgiving night at the Tampa Fairgrounds and we see the brackets for the PWF Heavyweight title tournament.

As we come out of the promo, Joe Pedicino is joined by Mike Graham in the interview area. Joe mentions the four corners match from last week and says that Mando Guerrero is now referring to himself as ‘the Opportunist’.  Graham says that Mando should be referred to as ‘the Cheater’ or ‘the Liar’ which would both be more accurate.  This brings out Mando sporting the championship belt.  Mando said that last week he didn’t take it personally when Mike Graham tried to question his integrity because he just wrote it off as an overload of emotion and adrenaline from a guy who USED to be a champion himself. Mando adds, “But, to hear you still out here whining and making excuses a whole week later, well that just comes off pathetic….and sad…but then again, I guess that sums up the Graham family at this point, right? Pathetic….and sad.”  Graham lunges at Guerrero and knocks him down as security grabs Graham and takes him away as Mando gets up and dusts himself off. Joe asks Guerrero if he learned his lesson about disrespecting the Graham name.  Mando says, “actions like that bring further disgrace to the Graham name, you should really do better, in fact you should follow the example set by your father.” Joe asks, “You mean as in be the type of honorable man that Eddie Graham was?”  Mando adds, “No, I mean he literally should follow in the footsteps of his father and ki (the audio drops out at this point and a disgusted Joe Pedicino immediately throws it back to the ring)

MATCH #2:
The New Breed (Chris Champion/Sean Royal) vs. The Southern Rockers (Rex King/Steve Doll)

As the match gets underway, Jim Ross apologizes for the “disgusting, vile words that were just spoken by Mando Guerrero”, Pedicino echoes those sentiments. Ross adds, “It’s one thing to be an opportunist, but it’s another to be an ***hole and pardon my French but that’s how I feel about Mando Guerrero right now.  Meanwhile there’s a fun fast paced tag team match happening in the ring. The momentum goes back and forth without either team keeping the advantage for very long until Rex King goes to hit the ropes, but Chris Champion pulls the rope down causing King to go crashing to the concrete floor.  King struggles to get back up but doesn’t beat the ten count back into the ring allowing the New Breed to get the victory.  Ross says “it will go down as a win in the record books, but anyone who was here to witness it will tell a different story.

Joe Pedicino is joined by Dory Funk Jr in the interview area.  Joe asks Dory how he feels about facing Joe Lightfoot in the opening round of the PWF Heavyweight title tournament. Funk says that Lightfoot is a talented young wrestler and he will be a challenge but Funk says that he has his sights set on the championship and he will stop at nothing until it’s strapped around his waist at the end of the night.

As we head into the commercial break, we cut to the dressing where “Gorgeous Jimmy” has his back to the camera but you can see his familiar silver sequined jacket as Precious sprays his hair with one more coat of hairspray as he will be in action….NEXT!

COMMERCIAL BREAK

MATCH #3:

“Gorgeous Jimmy” w/Precious vs. Frankie “the Thumper” Lancaster

As Lancaster waits in the ring, the familiar tune of “Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top plays as Precious comes through the curtain spraying air freshener everywhere followed by “Mean” Mike Miller and then by…..”Gorgeous” Jimmy POWERS!!  It takes Ross and Pedicino a moment to realize it’s Jimmy Powers as he has his hair poofed out and curly like another “Gorgeous Jimmy” from the past, but once Ross sees there’s no facial hair he realizes this isn’t who they were expecting.  Pedicino points out that even if he had the facial hair they “woulda known the minute the jacket came off.”  Powers is primping and posing just like Garvin and strutting around the ring.  Even Lancaster seems taken aback by it all.  When the bell rings, Powers immediately pokes Lancaster in the eyes and is “heeling it up” from the word go. Precious is in rare form here as well doing her thing at ringside all while under the watchful eye of “Mean” Mike Miller. Lancaster eventually makes a comeback and has things going his way and gets a couple of near falls on Powers, Lancaster shoots Powers into the ropes and ducks for a backdrop, but Powers leapfrogs over him, when Lancaster raises up and turns around, he gets a kick to the gut, followed by a BRAINBUSTER! 1-2-3!  “Gorgeous” Jimmy Powers gets the win!

Jim Ross awaits Powers, Precious, & Miller in the interview area. Ross says it was an auspicious debut for the ‘Gorgeous One’. Powers grabs the mic and says, “What’s the matter Jimbo, expecting someone else?? (laughing) As you can see, Precious got an UPGRADE! There’s only ONE ‘Gorgeous Jimmy’ in wrestling now, and you’re looking at him…”Gorgeous” Jimmy Powers and on Thanksgiving Day, I WILL be your champion!!” Ross goes to ask another question but Powers and Precious turn to leave as Miller leans in and says, “Gorgeous Jimmy will not be taking anymore questions, Good day.” Ross says, “But, I just need to ask..” Miller cuts him off, “GOOD…DAY!” Miller then leaves as Ross smirks at the camera and pitches to another commercial break.

MATCH #4:
MAIN EVENT

PWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Johnny/Davey Rich

vs.

“Hollywood” John Tatum/Jack Victoy w/Dark Journey

Ross points out that they cut back to four matches this week to make sure we didn’t have a repeat of last week when the show ran out of time just as the main event got going but points out there is a “stand by match” featuring Scott Armstrong on tap if needed.  These two teams have a pretty epic tag team match for television that after 13 minutes sees Tatum/Victory in control working over Davey Rich for a bit before he finally manages to break loose and get a ‘hot tag’ on cousin Johnny who comes in like a “house of fire”, after rocking both Tatum and Victory for a few moments, Johnny Rich locks Tatum into a ‘Boston Crab’, Dark Journey jumps up on the apron, as referee Mickey Jay goes over to get her back down, Rod Price runs in, wraps a chain around his fist and punches Rich in the back of the head then places Tatum on top of Johnny….DJ gets down which causes the ref to turn around and see the cover, he counts one, two, and three!  The ring announcer confirms as we go off the air….

“Your winners….and NEW PWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS “Hollywood” John Tatum and Jack Victory!”

A timely distraction hands Afi a win over the California Stud.

Okay any charm Mando's gimmick just had just vanished.

The New Breed get one up on the Southern Rockers again.

Hoss is ready for the High Chief.

Nice swerve with Gorgeous Jimmy. To be fair, I looked up a picture of him and Powers is a good looking guy.

Price put all his anger into that punch handing Tatum & Victory the tag titles.

First:  Episode #2

Rally enjoyed the Southern feel.  You are proving that any promotion in Dawn of War can be awesome... it just depends on the writer.  Great job getting me really interested really quickly.

Very creative in match # 1 with the "Battle of the Feet."

Thanksgiving is shaping up to be a huge night at the Fairgrounds with the 16 Man tournament.  I can already expect the unexpected with your shows.  I have no idea who you are going to put the title on.

Dark Journey seems to have a pretty talented stable forming.  Enjoyed Price attacking Cannonball and the visual with the surfboard was great.

Really fun 4 corners match with Mando and the grab of the tights getting the title.  Great comeback by Mando when Mike Graham talked about his family... and Mando quickly put Mike in his place.

Loved seeing the tag tournament in St. Pete.  I have only been to two shows in my life.  One was in White Plains NY where Andre the Giant beat Sgt. Slaughter and the other was in the Bayfront Center in St. Pete where Dusty and Terry Funk went at it.  Such awesome memories.

Windham and Kabuki seems like the perfect place to start a huge feud!

Can't wait to see the arrival of Gorgeous Jimmy

TAG TOURNY IN ST. PETE

As I said before, expect the unexpected.  I truly didn't think the Rich cousins were leaving with the belt!

Loved the appearance of Dixie Dynamite!

Episode #3

It seems even Cannonball's song has Price on high alert... costing him the match with Afi... great booking and way to hype up the feud.

Awesome segment with Graham and Mando.  These two names are big in the area and the sport and is a great way to draw in the old fans.  Wow.... Mando goes for the Ki.... yourself comment to Mike.  This is going to be WAR!

HAHAH... Awesome... Gorgeous Jimmy Powers!

And by any means necessary.... NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPS.  I find this interesting that we get such a short title reign from the Rich's and it is on TV.  I think this is great and goes to show everyone that PWF is going to be full of excitement and chaos!

That was all a lot of fun to read!

Cannonball is officially inside Price's head. I'm enjoying this fun feud.

Wow, Mando gets very disrespectful tonight as things with Graham goes to another level.

New Breed eke one out over the Rockers. Hopefully we get more matches between these exciting teams.

Dory looking to prove he's got another title run in him.

Oh man, you got me!!!!! Gorgeous Jimmy POWERS hahahahaha. This is great! I always thought Powers had the look and talent to be a star and now he's been given a huge opportunity to do that. Good job, very creative.

And just like that the Rich's reign is over. I've always liked the team of Tatum and Victory and they've had a lot of success in our game. Congrats on another title reign.

Round One:

Johnny Rich pinned “Hollywood” John Tatum w/Dark Journey with a small package

“Rotten” Ron Starr w/Sir Oliver Humperdink defeated “Son of the Beach” Cannonball Grizzly by DQ, when Rod Price hit the ring and punched Starr, just to get Grizzly DQ’d and eliminated from the tournament.  At first, Starr got up very heated at Price..but Hump realized what the deal was and he quickly rushed Starr out of the ring as Price quickly departed followed by Cannonball chasing Price up the aisle and out of the building

Kendall Windham pinned “Mean” Mike Miller w/Precious after a running bulldog

Ring announcer Joe Pedicino lets us know that Tim Horner who was signed to be in this match, has left the promotion unexpectedly. However, after being involved in a fight in the parking lot with Cannonball Grizzly after his previous interference, local police have removed both men from the property, therefore Dory Funk Jr will get a BYE in the next round

PWF Heavyweight Title Tournament

SEMI-FINALS:

Kendall Windham pinned “Rotten” Ron Starr w/Sir Oliver Humperdink after botched interference from Fidel Sierra

Dory Funk Jr vs. Mike Graham

Funk came to the ring first.  Graham had to be led out to the ring by his friend Scott Armstrong due to the mist to the eyes in the previous match from Kabuki.  One eye was completely covered with a bandage and while the other eye wasn’t covered but it was clear Graham was having problems seeing out of it. Funk seemed to express concern over Graham’s safety if he were to compete. Hiro Matsuda came to ringside and ruled that Graham “could not be allowed to compete in this state” and ordered that Funk be declared the winner by forfeit resulting in Dory Funk Jr’s 2nd BYE of the night through no fault of his own.  Announcer Joe Pedicino announces there will be an intermission and then a tag team match before the finals take place for the championship.

SEMI-MAIN EVENT

TAG TEAM CHALLENGE MATCH

The Southern Rockers (Rex King/Steve Doll) defeated The New Breed (Chris Champion/Sean Royal) after Doll pinned Royal with a flying crossbody off the top rope!

MAIN EVENT

PWF Heavyweight Title Tournament

FINALS:

Dory Funk Jr. defeated Kendall Windham to win the championship!

A highly competitive and scientific match throughout the 27 minutes they competed. The match started with a handshake and things got intense at times but no one ever broke the rules, finally Dory went to apply a spinning toe hold on Windham who kicked Dory off into the turnbuckle, as Windham got up off the mat, Sir Oliver Humperdink came down to ringside and began shouting at the referee who went over to see why Humperdink was out there, as Windham approached Funk in the corner, Dory kicked him right between the legs, dropping young Kendall instantly. As the referee turned back around from being distracted by Hump, Funk was now able to apply the spinning toe hold. Due to the pain of the low blow and the spinning toe hold as well, Windham succumbed to the pain and submitted, giving Dory Funk Jr the win…and the championship!

Humperdink came into the ring and handed Funk the PWF Championship belt and Dory Jr embraced Humperdink! Perhaps, Graham being blinded by Kabuki was no coincidence!?!?  Tune into Saturday’s PWF episode to hear Dory and Humperdink’s explanation!

Wow... these fans got 15 great matches.  What a way to get them hooked on live events.  Great hype for the PWF.

Love how the tournament hyped up all your angles!

Nice job keeping the Florida feel with many of the past Florida stars staying hot.   Kabuki with the mist... Mike Graham was willing to fight even though he was blind... Windham all the way to the finals... Humperdink with a hand in everything... and a Funk on top.  Really fun read.

Good choice with the Southern Rockers!!  This team will keep all the girls happy.

PWF TV Episode #4

Airing on 11/30/89

The Sportatorium

Tampa, Florida

Hosts: Jim Ross & Joe Pedicino

Show opens with random highlights from ‘Thanksgiving Homecoming’ ending with a still shot of Dory Funk Jr wearing the PWF Heavyweight title belt with Sir Oliver Humperdink raising his hand, then go to the opening montage, then the camera pans the crowd where two lively fans in lucha style masks in the front row are causing a stir and then over to our hosts Jim Ross and Joe Pedicino.

Jim Ross welcomes us and says that PWF fans are still reeling over the shocking conclusion to Thanksgiving Homecoming that saw Dory Funk Jr seemingly align with the House of Humperdink. Pedicino says perhaps that’s what those two ‘lucha fans’ are so riled up about then he points out that perhaps Dory was a part of the H.O.H. all along as it certainly seems looking back on it, Kabuki took out Mike Graham intentionally to pave the way for Funk to breeze into the finals having only wrestled one match to Kendall Windham’s THREE! Ross agrees that certainly seems to be the case as he points out that we’re scheduled to hear from Humperdink and Funk later in today’s show. Pedicino adds that we’ve got a huge grudge match in this week’s main event as “California Stud” Rod Price has demanded a match against “Son of the Beach” Cannonball Grizzly as their game of oneupsmanship finally went too far as far as Price is concerned at Thanksgiving Homecoming. Ross says that Hiro Matsuda has spoken to the ‘PWF Board of Directors’ about all the interference that has been running rampant here in the PWF and he says that Mr. Matsuda has a big announcement in regards to that later in this program.

MATCH ONE-

“Gorgeous” Jimmy Powers w/Precious & “Mean” Mike Miller vs. Frankie Lancaster

Ross points out that Lancaster has been beside himself since losing to Powers recently here on TV. Lancaster gets things off to a quick start meeting Powers center ring with a dropkick to start the match! Lancaster controls the first couple of moments of the match until Miller trips Lancaster as he was hitting the ropes. Powers quickly takes over and dominates for the next couple of minutes. “Gorgeous Jimmy” shoots Lancaster into the ropes and hits him with a dropkick. Powers struts around the ring, then primps his hair for the close up from the camera. Powers then struts over and picks Frankie up off the mat, he signals for the ‘Brainbuster’ but Lancaster quickly scoops him into an inside cradle for a 1-2-3!! Lancaster rolls out of the ring and celebrates with the fans while Powers has a complete break down in the ring. Precious tries to console him but Ross tells us it’s time for a commercial break.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

As we return, Joe Pedicino says that since we just saw Mike Miller interfere in the last match, Hiro Matsuda says he moved this segment up in the show. He says that Mr. Matsuda and the PWF Board of Directors have deemed it necessary to bring on someone to help “enforce the rules” here in the PWF. So at this time welcome our new PWF Commissioner, Blackjack Mulligan! (Blackjack Mulligan comes out in his typical western style attire with what appears to be a badge with ‘PWF Sheriff’ on it) Mulligan says there’s literally a “new Sheriff in town” and he’s here to restore order to the PWF before things get out of hand. He says that it was “dadgum ridiculous” how much interference there has been in PWF matches recently, especially in a prestigious tournament like the PWF title tournament. He says that guys like Sir Oliver Humperdink and the “so called ladies” like Dark Journey and Precious are about to become very well acquainted with him if they continue to interfere in their wrestler’s matches. He shakes hands with Pedicino and heads out as the two lucha masked fans yell and “boo” at him.

MATCH TWO-

The Armstrong Brothers (Scott/Steve) vs. The New Breed (Chris Champion/Sean Royal)

Ross spends the first couple of minutes of this match putting over Blackjack Mulligan being “the right man for the job” to restore order in the PWF. Pedicino says that while Scott Armstrong’s partner Tim Horner has seemingly left Florida, his brother Steve is a more than adequate replacement in any instance. Ross provides some background on Steve Armstrong. Pedicino chimes in that the New Breed got off to a great start in the PWF but recently lost to the Southern Rockers and seems to be shaken by that loss. Champion used a familiar tactic of pulling down the top rope causing Scott Armstrong to go crashing out to the floor. This brings Blackjack Mulligan down to take a seat at ringside. Royal and Champion are both quite distracted by this and seemed visibly annoyed by it, as they each take time to trash talk him in between kicks to Scott Armstrong who eventually uses their distraction with BJM to roll to the corner and get a tag on his brother Steve who comes in and takes control…and after a few moments scores a pinfall on Royal with a sunset flip!

COMMERCIAL BREAK

As we return from the break, PWF Junior Heavyweight Champion ‘the Opportunist’ Mando Guerrero joins Joe Pedicino and says he’s spent the week thinking about Mike Graham’s challenge and that he’s decided he accepts it, but if Graham is going to get a shot at his title, it has to be RIGHT NOW! Not next week or two weeks from now…but right this minute! Pedicino points out that Guerrero knows that Graham was nearly blinded by Kabuki at Thanksgiving Homecoming and that he’s still experiencing issues from that incident. Mando points out that was “days ago” and if “Mikey really wants a shot at this title, he will ‘grow a set’ and come get it, NOW!” Pedicino says that Mando is being ridiculous. (Mike Graham makes his way out, he still has a patch over his right eye and isn’t dressed to wrestle) Pedicino interjects before Mike can speak that “this isn’t a good idea, Mike.” Graham responds, “I don’t need vision in both eyes to wrestle this coward. I could beat him with one eye and one armed tied behind my back.” Mando grabs the mic, “Challenge accepted! Tie his arm behind his back and ring the bell!” Joe says, “Come on Mando, that wasn’t a challenge…he was just saying that….” Mando once again grabs the mic, “So who’s the coward now, Mikey? You come out here shooting your big mouth off and you can’t back it up, typical Graham bravado. Like I said last week, You’re a coward just like your…” Mike snatches the mic away, “Don’t you dare finish that sentence! If that’s what it takes to get you in the ring for the title..FINE, tie my arm behind my back and get your a** in the ring! I’ll show you who the coward is!” Mando heads to the ring but Blackjack Mulligan comes out and says this isn’t happening, not like this…not today! Graham actually shoves Blackjack, “Did you hear what he said about my Dad last week? This can either happen in that ring..RIGHT NOW….or it can happen in the parking lot or at the Waffle House but it’s happening and if I have to fight YOU first to make it happen…as much as I respect you, Bob…..I’ll do it!” Mulligan takes a moment to consider this….and finally says, “You heard the man…tie his arm up and let him fight….or try to anyway.” Blackjack heads to ringside to take a seat. Mando is shouting taunts from the ring as they tie Graham’s arm up behind him.

MATCH THREE-

PWF Junior Heavyweight Championship

“The Opportunist” Mando Guerrero vs. Mike Graham

Our two vocal masked fans are giving Mando all sorts of grief from the front row. Ross suspects they “got into the Cervesa before they got here”. Pedicino says he’s lost all respect for Mando and suspects his family is ashamed of his behavior as of late. Graham makes his way into the ring as Mando immediately goes on the attack, however Mike Graham is holding his own despite having a patch over one eye and one arm tied behind him. Finally, Mando just pokes Graham in his “good eye” and manages to take control. Guerrero works Graham over for a bit and then he goes up to the top rope, Mando taunts the fans (especially the two in the front row in masks) as well as Blackjack who is sitting in a chair at ringside. Mando then comes off the top rope with a splash but Graham rolls out of the way! Graham gets on top of Mando and starts wailing on him with his free arm when suddenly the two masked fans run into the ring and attack Graham!! Ross exclaims, “What the hell are these two fans doing!?! Why the hell are they helping Mando Guerrero?? Blackjack jumps up out of his chair, he makes a move towards the ring, then looks down at the “badge” and heads back to the back. Mando recovers as he and the two masked men stomp away on Graham, suddenly Blackjack returns with the Armstrongs in tow who slide in to make the save causing Mando and the two fans to quickly exit the ring. Mando holds his championship belt up over his head as the two “fans” remove their lucha masks to reveal their identity……Chavo & Hector Guerrero!! Ross points out to Pedicino that it appears the Guerrero family may not be as ashamed as he thought. Pedicino adds, “That appears to be the case, let’s take a break.”

COMMERCIAL BREAK

MATCH FOUR-

The House of Humperdink (PWF Champ Dory Funk Jr/The Great Kabuki) w/Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. The Southern Rockers (Rex King/Steve Doll)

Humperdink joins Ross & Pedicino on commentary. Ross asks Hump point blank if Funk was a part of the H.O.H. all along. Hump responds, “Well Columbo, look up in the ring right now….what do you think?” Pedicino asks, What was the point of Funk coming in and leading people to believe that he was going to wrestle by the rules and do things on his own. Hump tells Joe that he should ask the champ himself and see what happens. Ross talks about how well the Southern Rockers have done in the PWF so far but wrestling these two guys will be there toughest test to date. Hump adds that these guys are no test for his team as they will just be two more young punks that are in over their head wrestling ‘future hall of fame wrestlers’. Meanwhile, King & Doll are holding their own against Funk & Kabuki but eventually Hump would leave the desk and head back to ringside which brought Blackjack Mulligan back to ringside to warn him to not get involved, as the referee looked to see what was happening with Hump & Mulligan, it allowed Kabuki to hit Rex King with the nunchuks which Funk quickly capitalized on and got the pin.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

After the break, Jim Ross was joined by Johnny/Davey Rich who promised they are hot on the trail of Tatum/Victory and that they will not rest until those PWF tag team championships are back around their waists!

MATCH FIVE-

MAIN EVENT

GRUDGE MATCH

“Son of the Beach” Cannonball Grizzly vs. “California Stud” Rod Price w/Dark Journey

Price was waiting in the ring as Grizzly’s music started to play but this week there was no surfboard nonsense as Cannonball rushed the ring and the fight was on! Ross says, “Who would have thought that these two men would be engaged in what is perhaps the most heated feud in the PWF today!” The fight goes on for a few minutes until Grizzly clotheslined Price over the top rope! Cannonball goes out of the ring and the fight continues on the floor as the referee Mickey Jay starts to count. Grizzly and Price duke it out on the floor as Jay hits the dreaded 10 of the 10 count…..as the bell rings, Tatum & Victory run out and jump Cannonball Grizzly but within seconds Johnny & Davey Rich are there to even the odds….as all this is happening, Blackjack Mulligan comes out and gets on the mic and demands the fighting stop immediately or they will ALL BE FIRED!! This brings the fighting to a pretty quick stop. Mulligan announces that next week’s main event will be a six man tag match between these six men….INSIDE A STEEL CAGE!! Then Mulligan adds, “Oh…and there will be a special referee inside that cage…..ME!”

Ross: “Fans, you don’t wanna miss next week’s show as we are going to see these six men face off in a steel cage and Blackjack Mulligan will be the special referee!”

Pedicino adds: “Also Jim, I’ve just been handed a memo that Blackjack has signed another match with Scott & Steve Armstrong taking on Chavo & Hector Guerrero and if the Armstrongs win, MIke Graham will get a rematch with Mando Guerrero for the PWF Junior Heavyweight Championship with a stipulation of his choosing….but if the Armstrongs lose, Mike Graham will not a get rematch with Mando for 90 days!”

Ross: “Make your plans to join us, folks…….the PWF just keeps get wilder and wilder each and every week. SO long from Florida!"

Really exciting show from start to finish.  Using BJM in this role is a great choice.  Between his size and history in Florida, people better listen.

Gorgeous and Precious had their egos put in place here tonight.  Will be interesting to see where this goes.

The segment with Graham and Mando was so well done.  It had it all from great wording of the interviews to BJM to the match to the arrival of Hector and Chavo and then the feud started between the Armstrongs and the Guerreros.  Awesome booking!

All the matches did a nice job of moving your angles forward and really looking forward to next week with the bog match/big stipulations between the Armstrongs and the Guerreros.

Thanks for such a great read.

Lancaster with a surprise win to start us off.

I sure as hell wouldn't want to run afoul of sheriff Mulligan.

Mando brings his hermanos to help him beat up a half blind man?! What a culero. Thankfully Sheriff Mulligan found two qualified deputies in the Armstrong's.

Hoss shows he fits right in the HoH.

Mulligan makes his first major decision and it's a doozy. A six man tag in a cage next week!

I haven't watched much classic Florida wrestling but if it was as crazy as this I need to rectify that.
