Autistic Dragon
The Mortons sweep the field to prove themselves the best tag team in Kentucky. I think we can safely say Joe and the Cuban won't be settling their beef in a traditional match.
spaldoni
Bittersweet decision for Lee and Z but hey at least the fans get to see another great match Gossett really has been stricken by the love bug but I don't think Tasha feels the same LOL. Meanwhile, Falk's still hoping for that first win One thing's for sure, I wouldn't want to be Bobby Starr OH YEA! Gypsy Joe shows up but unfortunately, we don't get to see the brawl on TV. Classic formula to get the fans to the arena
kevinmcfl
Great week of Bluegrass Championship Wrestling... The back and forth between Bert, Ronnie and Tasha was great especially with the Valentines gifts added to the angle. Too bad Lock had to come and take the candy. Awesome segment with Richard Lee, Zebra Kid, Chris Michaels and Hickerson. What a great way to sell tickets for the rematch! A small promotion like this needs to big guys who just want to brawl. Gypsy Joe and Cuban Assassin fit this perfectly. And the Kentucky Cup goes to the Mortons.... I think Pretty N Pink was a bit surprised to see the Mortons run the gauntlet. You really do have a knack for these small time territories... great job.
LastStopTour
Voiceover: You are watching Bluegrass Championship Wrestling on WPSD-TV, Channel 6. Wrestling action to snappy music plays interspersed with images of Kentucky to kick off the program. Bluegrass Championship Wrestling February 16th, 1990 TV Taping - WPSD-TV, Channel 6 Studios Paducah, Kentucky Announcers: Bert Prentice & Ronnie Gossett Referee: Bruno Laurer & Tom Renesto Jr. Host Bert welcomes everyone to Bluegrass Championship Wrestling's Power Half Hour and introduces his co-host. An exciting half hour of action today and Bert gets right to it. He talks about last night’s Kentucky Cup, set in a Gauntlet style one night tournament to crown BCW’s top tag team. We get a “hrumph” from Ronnie Gossett as Bert looks over at his co-host and asks if he has something to add? Something to add? He sure does! He calls the USWA a bunch of cheapskates and by association, Bluegrass Championship Wrestling as well! Bert wants to know how how he came to that conclusion? It’s pretty simple … rather than have a one night tournament for tag team title belts here in Kentucky, they throw in a trophy … a single trophy! Bert pays him no mind and says that speaking of the USWA, they have just announced an upcoming tag team tournament. Should be a good one as tag teams from all across the USWA are invited. We’ll have more info on that in the coming weeks but right now, let’s get the winners of the Kentucky Cup in here … Todd and Shane Morton … The Mortons make their way out carrying the Kentucky Cup. An impressed Bert congratulates them on their win before explaining what it was they actually did, winning a gauntlet style tournament AND were one of the first two teams, running the field to win the Cup. An impressive achievement that Ronnie Gossett thinks is kind of ho-hum as he yawns several times. The Mortons are of course excited and are now setting their sights on something a little higher … THE USWA TAG BELTS! They are ready to throw their hat into the ring and face the very best the USWA has to offer … The biggest member of Tony Falk’s Rookies make his way out. The large face painted man rants and raves about the Mortons cheating and continuously double teaming in their match and the referee favoring them … HE’S READY TO PROVE IT RIGHT NOW AND CHALLENGES THE MORTONS TO A MATCH! Here comes Tony Falk and Frank M. Tony apologizes profusely, telling Big Dave this isn’t the way to do business while little Frank does his best to try to push Big Dave back. Todd Morton says he and Shane didn’t break any rules, they didn’t bend any rules and always do it the way you are supposed to but if Big Dave isn’t happy about the match and he understands that, so if Shane is up to it, he has no problem giving them a rematch today. Shane’s “Hell yeah” made it official! Bert throws it to a commercial break. ----- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----- A camera sweep through the audience finds this pretty fan cheering before we return to Bert and Ronnie who talk about the segment before the break. Ronnie sides with Big Dave who he believes has a legitimate beef with the Mortons. Bert says that is nonsense and the Mortons did not shy away from a rematch here today. Bobby Starr joins our hosts. He says for the last several weeks the creepy Lock has been saying that Starr was the first target on her list and he’s been waiting now patiently to get his hands on whoever she brings in to wrestle, ever since they did what they did to Gary Royal. Bert explains what happened for those not here or can’t remember … as her Tazmaniacs injured Gary Royal before they were banned from Bluegrass Wrestling. Gossett says if it was up to him, he’d toss the whole kit-n-kaboodle because no one but him knows what they will have to deal with in the very near future. Starr says he’s going to do his part to run them out of the territory! HERE SHE COMES! Lock and Oliver Humperdink make their way out. She says Starr won’t have to wait long now as today is his judgment day! Bert wants to know just who is wrestling for her? Her answer is to turn towards Humperdink whose eyes go wide when he realizes it is HIM! Bobby Starr versus Oliver Humperdink w/Lock. Referee Tim Renesto Jr.. Starr is ready to go as soon as he hits the ring while Humperdink is reluctant to even get in the ring but does so at the prodding of Lock. The fans are already cheering on Starr before we get the bell which sounds as soon as Humperdink enters the ring. With the bell, Hump tries to get out of there but Starr yanks him right back in and gets to work. Humperdink is repeatedly floored by running shoulders from Starr. Big dropkick has Humperdink looking for the exit as he slips out of the ring for the safety of the outside. Gossett is loving this, calling it karma for taking the box of chocolates for Tasha Simone. Bert tells him to knock that off. Humperdink can’t escape as Starr with a double sledge to the back as he comes flying off the turnbuckle and the fans are eating it up. Lock tries to intercede but gets pushed out of the way by a man on a mission. Bobby Starr will not be denied his revenge. He hammers away on Humperdink before bouncing his head off the ring apron. Hump gets rolled back inside the ring and Starr makes the cover … 1! 2! NO! BOBBY STARR PULLS HUMPERDINK UP BY HIS HAIR! Humperdink begs and pleads for his life and Starr answers with a knuckle sandwich right between the eyes. Irish whip and Humperdink is caught around the waist on the return. Spinning his body, Bobby Starr plants Hump in the mat and makes the cover … Oliver Humperdink is NOT kicking out of this! Bobby Starr leaves the ring to celebrate with the fans as Lock enters the ring to berate her man for doing absolutely nothing. Starr with a salute, says that one’s for GARY US ROYAL! The fans chant U.S.A. over and over as we need to take a station break! ----- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----- Local ad with Tony Falk ... Tony Falk: Do you want to become a wrestler, a manager or a valet? Call the number below and we can get you on the path to stardom! Call today! Back to Bert and Ronnie with Bert celebrating the huge win by Bobby Starr. Gossett wishes Starr had done that to Lock instead … he says kill the head, the rest of it dies! Bert says he is sure this isn’t the last we’ll hear of this and that Lock is probably already planning her next move. Ronnie says Bert doesn’t understand, she’s already three steps ahead! Bert turns his attention our next match, going over how this all came about. The Mortons already hold a win over Falk’s Rookies two weeks ago here on TV as well as a win over them last night in the tournament. They certainly appear to have the Rookies’ number at this point. Ronnie tells Bert to not be so sure because Big Dave certainly looks to have that fire in his belly to beat the Mortons. Bert tells him that is why we have the matches! LET’S GO TO THE RING! Big Dave & Frank M w/Tony Falk versus The Mortons. Referee Bruno Laurer The fans let everyone know who they are cheering on as soon as the Mortons make their way out. Loudest pop of the night for the Kentucky Cup winners who are set to take on their first challengers less than 24 hours after winning! Big Dave runs out from the back and attacks both Mortons before they hit the ring! He hammers away at both before shoving away the referee to continue the beatdown. Tony Falk and Frank rush out to pull Big Dave away. The Mortons gets a break to try to shake off the cobwebs but has the damage already been done? Bruno in the corner issuing warnings before the match has even started, telling Dave he WILL DQ him if he does not heed the referee’s commands! Tony does his best to calm his wrestler and tells Frank to start things off while he talks to Big Dave. Frank and Shane get to it with some chain wrestling with both men taking control. The fans appreciate it the wrestling and let them both know as they share a handshake before getting back to it. Fast tag to Todd Morton and he takes over, taking Frank to the mat and even rolling him to his back for a 1 count. Todd whips Frank across the ring, fast tag and Shane comes flying over the ropes into the ring and flattens Frank with a slingshot clothesline. 1! 2! NO! BIG DAVE BREAKS IT UP! Todd follows with an elbow drop and gets a 1! on the cover. He works a side headlock and moves Frank to his corner where Shane awaits a tag. They switch and Frank is still in a headlock and unable to escape. HERE COMES BIG DAVE! Charging the ring, Dave comes flying in with a big spear! Shane dodges and Dave hits his own partner, flattening Frank and sending him through the ropes to the outside. Dave is looking for blood and turns to Shane Morton … drop toe hold and down goes Big Dave! Slingshot leg drop from Todd Morton before the Mortons both grab one of Dave’s leg and sit back into a double crab hold. The big muscular man powers through and uses the ropes to pull himself forward to gain a break of the hold. Angry Big Dave is grabbed by Tony Falk and admonished by the trainer. Double drop kick sends Dave forward into Falk, knocking him to the floor and landing on him when he goes over the ropes to the outside. Across the ring, a groggy Frank, the legal man in, is brought back into the hard way with a double hip toss. Todd drops Frank across his knee before Shane comes flying off the top rope and lands a leg drop and makes the cover while Todd Morton stands near by ready to thwart any attempt to break it up. We get the 1! 2! 3! The Mortons have beaten Falk’s Rookies once again! That's all the time today as Bert Prentice signs off but reminds everyone to come back next week for more Bluegrass Championship Wrestling! Autistic Dragon
The Mortons certainly appear to be the best hope of bringing the USWA tag titles to Kentucky. Big Dave is getting frustrated at the pace of his advancement under Falk. Starr sends Humperdinck packing but Locke doesn't seem to bothered. LowBlowPodcast
I have family from around the Hazard area - right now there's some massive floods that have been wrecking havoc down there. One thing was always true though - they loved wrestling and Bluegrass would be a top tier for them. Bert Prentice is a solid go to for the face of the promotion and really adds a lot. I don't know if i would trust Tony Falk to take my money and train me but who knows. Tommy Rich has some open dates and would love to come see if anyone is talking about being fired up down in Kentucky!
