Harry Smith

So according to the WON, Harry's drug test failure was actually when he was still in developmental, and WWE waited until he was brought on the main roster and given a push before suspending him. The logic allegedly being that they wanted to prove they mean business by showing they're willing to suspend a guy they started pushing to show the media they mean it with the new testing policies. The whole deal with putting his debut dark match with Carlito on WWE.com was just part of getting him established as a name just so they can be on record punishing a WWE Superstar and not some no-name development guy.

Things like this make CNN's editing of their piece that much more irritating, when there's stuff out there to report on that would absolutely murder the whole WWE drug policy if only the person doing the reporting would do the most basic of research.

It's amazing that they didn't stop and think for a second that by promoting a developmental wrestler that they knew had failed their last steroid test instead of choosing one of the dozens who are clean according to their testing, the media would probably see that as proof they reward steroid abuse not that they mean business in cleaning it up. But that's the wrestling bubble for you.

CNN and other's don't care about some guy that's only been on TV a couple weeks. They want guys like HHH and Cena to fail so they can get the big guys. Of course if they only knew that he was Davey's son, it might have made some news.

I don't think CNN and the media really are that into wrestling that they would strongly differentiate between top stars and guys on the lower rung. I'm sure if someone gave them two choices - bust a top star like Cena or HHH or bust a lesser-known star like Harry they would choose the first option, but this is the kind of dirt CNN would have loved to have had in their documentary, especially since Bulldog was mentioned in it.

What I find to be both funny and stupid at the same time, is that everyone was giving props to the WWE for actually going through and making the violations public, especially to a young guy they seemed to have hopes for.

And now with the truth coming out, they look just as bad as ever for basically screwing out with the policy so they could make themselves look good to the media.

It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Major companies do sleazy, not-exactly-on-the-level stuff for PR all the time. If anything, this means WWE is running itself more like a real business and less like a traveling carnival.

What seems to be sailing under the radar is that while all this is going on, they released Chris Masters. On one hand, they use a 20 year old to further their drug policy while firing a guy who was repeatedly teased about his shrunken, roid free build on live TV.

True but he was never teased IN A POST BENOIT WORLD
