"Take Me Home, Country Roads"

Almost Heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads

All my memories gather 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads

I hear her voice in the morning hour, she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
Driving down the road, I get a feeling
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads

Take me home, (Down) country roads
Take me home, (Down) country roads

HOUSE SHOW 01
Friday, November 21st, 1990
from Beckley Regular Baptist Church, Beckley, West Virginia
The Turkey Day Fund Raiser

Chris Cruise on commentary.
Referee Bruno Laurer on duty.

Wrestling for a Cause and a good one at that as Championship Wrestling helps to raise money for buying turkeys for the Church Food Kitchen to help the homeless and less fortunate on Thanksgiving.

- Wild Dog beat Scotty Summers.

- The Bodacious Pretty Boy w/Tasha defeated Tony Williams. *

- Shane Morton pinned Lil’ Frank of the Crazees. **

A successful find raiser as everyone dug into their pockets, even the wrestlers, to donate to the Church’s cause, bringing in nearly $400 which do well to buffer the kitchen’s coffers and feed more people.

* Very evenly matched pair, it was Tasha who was the difference maker. Tony Williams complained to the referee but Laurer said he didn’t see anything.

** Match of the evening between two very athletic men who can go, despite their big lack of experience. Throw in a low ceiling that limited the style of the match but both men shined, coming through to close out the fundraiser.

After the match, Shane Morton, gave a small speech, thanking the fans for coming out and supporting the community.

- Host Cruise
welcomes everyone to Championship Wrestling. He talks about today’s Power Half Hour and the matches on the program before being joined by Shane Morton.

shanemorton_SM.jpg

- The two talk about the Morton name and it’s importance to professional wrestling and the area. They discuss Ricky, Shane, Steve and Todd, wondering which of them will show up. Today it’s Shane, who knows what tomorrow brings.

----- COMMERCIAL BREAK -----

- Wild Dog versus Scotty Summers.
It is a good one as the masked man gets the fans behind him and takes it to the bigger Summers. Wild Dog ducks a slowly thrown clothesline, hits the ropes and comes flying off with a cross body block for the win.

Wild-Dog.png

- After the match he joins Chris Cruise and is fired up after the win. He looks forward to facing the best of the best here in West Virginia.

----- COMMERCIAL BREAK -----

- Back from commercial, Cruise talks about Championship Wrestling and rundowns the weekly house circuit and where to catch all the upcoming action.

- Rob Van Winkle versus Shane Morton.
Morton’s opponent looks lost here and is directed by the fans to the ring. Once inside he tries to square up with the referee who informs him his opponent is Morton across the ring. Once underway, it is all Morton as Van Winkle is really lost inside the ring. A bit of comedy as even Morton has to fight back laughter until the match is finally put away with a big drop kick.

A laughing Chris Cruise signs off but reminds everyone to come back next week for more Championship Wrestling!

Your shows are never very big but they always have a lot of personality. From the DC Comics shout-out with Wild Dog to his opponents slow clothesline to Rob Van Winkle, there's plenty of little things that could endear the show to the audience.

I really enjoy your format.  You show that it is not necessarily the names but how they are used that make wrestling so cool.  I could just see the 10 year old boys in West Virginia telling their parents that they had to stay up late to see Wild Dog!

- Host Cruise welcomes everyone to Championship Wrestling. He talks about today’s Power Half Hour and the matches on the program before being joined by a trio in pink
.

Pi-P-(2)sm.png

- Pretty in Pink is introduced as the best looking
, the best dressed and the best wrestlers in the promotion by the “Mouthpiece”, Tasha. She promises any titles will belong to her and Pretty in Pink! Her so-called “manly men” look anything but that as they flit around in the background while she talks.

- Once they leave, Chris Cruise talks about today’s matches … we have The Pink Assassin taking on Tony Williams and in the Main Event, Philadelphia’s Johnny Hotbody faces off against “Itchy” Richie of The Crazees.

----- COMMERCIAL BREAK -----

- The Pink Assassin w/Tasha and the Bodacious Pretty Boy versus Tony Williams.
A lot of delaying to kick things off as the masked man refuses to get into the ring, clearly complaining to the referee and Tasha about his opponent while holding his nose. She sprays perfume or something around the ring before The Pink Assassin attacks Williams from behind before the bell. It is one-sided as the cheating Assassin goes to town on the young wrestler. He even gets help from his two compatriots who get in on the act. After Williams is pinned, all three stomp him until ...

shanemorton_SM.jpg

- Shane Morton hits the ring and Pretty in Pink vacates the ring in a hurry as the fans cheer on Morton who has come to the young Tony Williams’ rescue. A fired up Morton motions for PiP to get back into the ring to take a few lumps from him but Tasha leads her team to the back. This is far from over!

----- COMMERCIAL BREAK -----

- Back from commercial
and the fans are excited as Cruise talks about Championship Wrestling and rundowns the weekly house circuit and where to catch all the upcoming action.

-
Itchy Richie w/Lil’ Frank versus Johnny Hotbody.
Hotbody with the “Philly Salute” for the fans draws boos. Hotbody struts around the ring trying to draw adulation from the fans but gets just the opposite. Richie isn’t very cooperative during the match, preferring to dance with Hotbody when they lock up which gets the fans behind him. Hotbody with an arm wringer twisting away before Richie can reach the ropes for a break. He heads back to his own corner where Frank grabs the arm and twists it in the other direction, fixing Richie right up.

Hotbody has had enough and smacks Frank before laying into Richie and hammering him around the ring. Hotbody sends Richie flying with a big back body drop and follows with a leg drop for a two count. A shoulder butt off an Irish Whip flattens Richie again followed by stomps until the referee breaks it up. Hotbody shoves ref Nate Whitlock out of the way but is almost rolled up for a three count when he doesn’t pay attention to his opponent.

Johnny Hotbody’s had enough and stops Itchy Richie in his tracks with an eye rake. Several right hands backs The Crazee into the corner where Hotbody sends him for a ride across the ring. He follows behind with a flying body press in the corner and moves Richie to the center of the ropes for another Irish Whip and meeting in the middle with a flying shoulder that puts both men on the canvas. Hotbody with the cover for the three count and the win.

The fans boo in the background as Chris Cruise signs off but reminds everyone to come back next week for more Championship Wrestling!

Pretty in Pink equals heat magnets here

They do get the heat with a beat down on poor Tony Williams. Luckily Morton makes the save and we've got an angle.

Itchy Richie, what a name LOL. Hotbody takes care of business.

chriscruise_SM_USE.png

- Host Cruise welcomes everyone to Championship Wrestling before being joined by referee Nate Whitlock.

Nate-Ref-SM.jpg

- Whitlock talks about last week’s match between the Pink Assassin and Tony Williams that ended with all three Pretty in Pink members
jumping into the ring and beating down an already beaten Williams before Shane Morton came out and chased them off. With time to look back on all of the chaos, it has been determined the match result has been reversed from a win for The Pink Assassin to a win by Disqualification for Tony Williams …

angry-Tasha-SM.jpg

- An angry Tasha comes out and yanks the mic away from Chris Cruise and lets Whitlock and the fans get an earful that the unfair treatment is because they are all jealous of her “Real Men.” She promises to get even with all that would do her and her men wrong …

shanemorton_SM.jpgTony-William-SM.jpg

- The fans cheer as Shane Morton and young Tony Williams make their way out. Morton thinks that referee Nate Whitlock made the right choice in overturning The Pink Assassin’s win last week. He also challenge’s Tasha’s “men” to a match with the odds a little more evened up with Morton and Williams challenging Pretty in Pink to a tag team match in the Main Event today! She agrees to the match!

- Chris Cruise throws it to a commercial break!

----- COMMERCIAL BREAK -----

- Scotty Summers versus The Red Terror.
Summers lost two weeks ago to a better wrestler in The Wild Dog on TV but turns it around and picks up the win over the masked Red Terror.

Wild_Dog.png

- After the match, Wild Dog joins Chris Cruise. He’s chomping at the bit to get back into the ring to show all these fans what he can do in the ring. He’s ready, willing and able to take on all comers!

----- COMMERCIAL BREAK -----

- Back from commercial and the fans are excited as Cruise talks about Championship Wrestling and rundowns the weekly house circuit and where to catch all the upcoming action.

-
Pretty in Pink w/Tasha versus Shane Morton & Tony Williams.
Solid tag team action with quick tags and quicker momentum changes. Rookie Williams gets trapped in the match and double teamed by both members of PiP until Shane Morton is able to get in and clear house. Both teams battle inside and outside of the ring.

Back inside, Morton puts a beating on the Bodacious Pretty Boy but has his pin attempt broken up by The Pink Assassin. Tasha directs her men by Shane is able to counter whatever they throw at him. The good guys get some double teaming of their own in before things break down and all four are in the ring brawling. Tasha is able to slip The Pink Assassin a chain but Shane Morton is able to wrestle it away from him. The Pink Assassin falls to the canvas as referee Bruno Laurer turns and sees Morton with the chain in hand standing over the fallen PiP member. The ref calls for the bell immediately, calling for the disqualification of Morton and Williams. Tasha pulls he victorious men from the ring while Morton and Williams plead their case with the referee.

The fans boo in the background as Chris Cruise signs off but reminds everyone to come back next week for more Championship Wrestling!

The show opens with Whitlock asserting his authority by reversing his decision from last week. Nice to see a ref do the right thing. Tasha disagrees and her fit leads to this weeks main event.

Summers shows fans he can be a winner.

Wild Dog puts everyone on notice.

Some quick thinking by the pink Assassin gives PiP the win.
