Loss Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Vote for the wrestler that you think had the better career in WWE (whether you base that on impact or match quality is your decision), from 1985 to 2005. Voting will end tomorrow morning at the latest. Please give the wrestler's name first and any explanation thereafter. Thanks.
Guest Hunter's Torn Quad Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Chris Jericho Far more charismatic than Angle, and for more versatile, Jericho is better than Angle in just about every way except for drawing money, but that's not enough for me to go with Angle on this.
Loss Posted May 12, 2005 Author Report Posted May 12, 2005 Chris Jericho It's a popular belief that Angle is a better worker than Jericho. It's also a myth. It's a popular belief that Angle is a bigger star than Jericho. It's also a myth. Angle has been given far more push, but Jericho has done a far better job making the most of what he's been given. Jericho has had better matches with Rock, HHH and Benoit. Jericho got matches out of Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash, Viscera, Mark Henry, Hulk Hogan and Kane for crying out loud! Jericho typically has more fan support. Jericho has had better results with the same opponents, with Steve Austin being the only exception.
Guest Some Guy Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Jericho. He's done more with less. This is an interesting match up because you have a case of a guy, in Jericho who has been buried by aborted push after aborted push and a guy in Angle, who unitl recently was pushed to the ME but was done so as a joke character. Both guys could have been way more than they are. I'm going with Jericho because he's a better worker and remains over after 6 years of being buried. When they ran that "Can Jericho win the big one" angle in late 2001, I took that as admitance that they buried the guy and as hope that he would finally be rewarded, he gives them the MOTY with Rock and then Austin sbatages his push by refusing to put forth an effort in their matches and HHH comes back to feud with his wife over dog shit. If were Jericho I might have refused to job at WM in protest, held them up for a ton of money and then quit.
Loss Posted May 12, 2005 Author Report Posted May 12, 2005 And yes, whether it was intentional or not, I do feel like the layout of the Austin/Jericho matches, even though Austin put him over twice, made Jericho look really bad. I don't know if sabotage is the right word, but it's not terribly off, since he refused to do a clean job to him at Vengeance in 2001. Austin and Jericho could have had great matches had Austin been willing to give him offense.
Mad Dog Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Chris Jericho Kurt Angle is without a doubt the most overrated wrestler of the past 5 years.
Guest Some Guy Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 I would say sabotage is the right word. Austin did nothing but chop in the NWO 2002 match, presumably because he pissed about the nWo coming in or something and as you said refused to put Jericho over, you know there is a world of difference between jobbing and putting someone over. Late 2001 and 2002 were bad years for Austin in terms of maturity and doing the right thing for the company.
goodhelmet Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Chris Jericho. Kurt Angle may be the most overrated wrestler Ever... from nearly all circles.
goodhelmet Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Can the people who listed Kurt Angle please explain your position!
Guest Alfdogg Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 For me, it came down to the fact that he's been a constant in the ME for the last five years, barring his injuries, which is something only two other guys can say, HHH & Undertaker. And he's done it without the political influence that they have and has conistently put on good matches in that time frame, also unlike HHH/UT.
Guest rob Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 I think Angle has had better matches in the WWE. And his character is far more entertaining, as I think Jericho is still doing the same things he was doing back in 1999.
MyOwnSummer Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 I gave Angle the win because he's had some character growth while Jericho has stayed the same. Jericho is a better worker but Angle's been in better matches in his wwe run. Jericho is entertaining but I found Angle's stuff with Austin and Vince, and his three I's to be more entertaining. If this included WCW than Jericho would have won.
Guest KingPK Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 If I voted for Angle, tonight's SD would have changed it to Jericho. What......the........fuck?
