World of Hurt is the one wrestling show that I watch over all others these days. If I had to make a choice, that'd be it. Before that it was Tough Enough. The new ROH show coming out I will be watching too.

Toyota and Davey Richards are different wrestlers with different styles with different things with different match structures that make them unique. Since this is the second time I've seen this comparison, I want to say I agree with the comparison in a lot of ways as at their core what makes them so awesome is the same thing but they're definitely different too. And I've said it before, but I have to say it again. Toyota just maybe the best wrestler of all time especially given the context of time. Screw it, she is. I'm even more convinced after rewatching her matches. Joshi puroresu is the most organic, natural, emotional and competitive form of the sport exhibition there is and Toyota is the king of the style. I would venture to say live it would be even more apparent. Nobody ever wowed me like they did when I first saw Toyota. Nobody blew my mind in what I was watching like she did. PWI had talked about incredibly amazing she was but even than I wasn't prepared. Not The Great Muta, not Sasuke, not Benoit or Dynamite or Scorpio or Eddie or Rey Mysterio Jr. or Ozaki or Yamada Keichi or Toshiyo or Owen or The LOD or the Steiner Brothers or Steamboat or Richards or KENTA or Kobashi or Misawa or any of the great athletic talents of today. I love every one of those wrestlers but nobody made the emotional/"This is the best thing I've ever seen in wrestling face drops down to the floor in amazment" impact that Toyota did. Not even the legendary Tiger Mask who is one of the best of all time in this category (which PWI also told me was one of the biggest names in Japan wrestling history due to his athetic ability) Toyota is everything that I love about wrestling. Also, hair is absolutely essential to a feminine woman. It is MUCH more signifigant for a woman than it is for a guy. Now I know someone might reply that Joshi wrestlers might not be that feminine but let's just leave it at that. So I imagine that would make the match more emotional for the female audience. Guys too to an extent.

I have seen The Steiners vs Fujinami/Iizuka match from Japan on handheld. Terrific match. Incorrect Scott Steiner is somene who you don't want to mess around with. He could handle himself too.

Freaking awesome picture. -
I remember this match being insanely awesome. Riveting, emotional, aweinspiring and the reason why I watch professional wrestling. The kind of match that sticks out from the pack and is timeless.

On promos for NXT, didn't he say he want to main event Wrestlemania in the video packages? -
At his peaks, Luger is better. I was one of the first people to be singing his 89 work:) Always been a big fan. Overall though, I have to go with HHH. People in 1989 were singing praise of Lex's work. I think he won Most Improved in the WON. John Yeah, I was shouting it out from the rooftops.

Does anyone know how insanely riduculous tough it is to do free weight squats for an hour?

I watched it back in 93 and have been singing its praises since than. It's definitely one of the best tag matches of the year.

Hit the nail right on the head. Early Sting promos were insanely awesome. I remember loving them when I first saw his promos in 89. Luger too had awesome energy in his promos and it helped draw me in along with the more intense/sport like wrestling to WCW.
-
Sting is better overall though Luger does have some qualities that are better than Sting. Each can be better than the other. It depends on the night, the oppenent and what's going on. Both of them are responsible for one of my all time fav wrestling moments. That was when Sting came down injured, slapped Luger in the face during his title match against Flair while Luger was down and out. Sting's motivation causes Luger to go insane which leads to one of the best goosebumping producing Superman wrestler comebacks ever.

For the record, this match is signifigantly clipped iirc. I'm a big fan of the match. One of the matches that turned me into a fan of Villano III

Does Smothers still wrestle? I heard he had a lot of concussion problems which were causing scary behavour.

Dean vs Rey ruled. Loved the matwork, the counters, the moves, the execution and the tesnion. I loved everything about the matches. Whiel Psicosis vs Rey from the Bash is a lot of fun and I give them all the credit in the world for the match it's not as good as the Dean vs Rey series for certain reasons. I think Psicosis vs Rey had a better match there in ECW (forget which one) which is up on the level and perhaps even ahead of the best Dean vs Rey matches in WCW. The ECW match is better because of better match construction than the BATB match.

Henning's WWF run is soooooo underrated especially when he had his Perfect streak going. Perfect's run is also very misunderstood in what it was going for and how it impacted the fans emotionally. That can be expected somewhat due to the context of time but even than his run and what it did was waaaay underrated. I loved how his matches were often put together at this time.

I am a big fan of I believe it was 4 of the Villanos vs Benoit matches. They helped maked me into a fan of VIllano III and Villano IV. The mask vs mask match was a brilliant bout but only once I realised what was going on which I thank Ray for. The 92 match I love but it should be noted that a lot of it is not shown. Their first match was constructed well with a combiantion of NJPW and lucha libre. 9/26/92 against Villano IV is definitely reccomended too. All matches had a different feel to them.

People who hadn't watched wrestling in over 10 yrs after this angle took place will mention this angle to me when wrestling is brought up. This had a strong impact on a lot of people. One of the all time best WWF angles. -

That kind of thing is what made Japanese wrestling better than wrestling from other places. It was more realistic, more organic and not as much formula. More like a real sport. -
Clash is fun but this match is way better than the Clash match. A classic. I remember thinking this is approaching Japanese quality when I initally watched this.

Akira Fukuzawa says hello. I don't speak japanese, and as it is I would rank him pretty much at the top along with Lance. Ross over excitement during finishes post 1999 just makes him unbearable to me during big matches, he sounds like he's having a panic attack and it's just as ridiculous as Joey Styles infamous screamed lines (and I like Joey as much as anybody). Basically Ross ranks that way to me : WCW Ross > WWF (1993-1998) Ross (at his best, really great, and excellent most of the time) >> UWF >>> WWF post 1999 (could be just plain terrible and annoying, oversells everything by gawd!) Fukuzawa does the same thing as Ross and Styles only it's cool because it's like a crazy Japanese TV commercial. And there just maybe nothing better in life than crazy Japanese commercials. -
You're being too tough on Elgin. I really enjoyed that match against Corino. The guy is over too with his insane Steve Williams like strength which from what I've seen is over like crazy with everyone. This guy has so much upside it's insane. He could be a future ROH heavyweight champion and at the very least a strong contender. Generico vs Daniels was a lot of fun. I did have the Transformers soundtrack on while listening to it though which made it four times as good as it would do for any match:) Davey vs Eddie was a very interesting match in that it was different in how it was put together. The effects if they went this way or a different way is something I coudl talk about for a long time. Overall, I loved it. It's best to watch it without being spoiled otherwise you can't get the full effect. It felt very, very competitive which it had to be and in a lot of ways I think it made Eddie into more of a face. I think he looked extremely strong in defeat and is now totally credible as a world champion moreso now than even when he had the belt. This will make people get behind him more. He's got that sympathy with him now. I also liked the drama of Richards/Edwars being brothers and built from the same cloth in what makes them tick. Richards "didn't want to" hurt and end Edwards' dream but Richards knows what makes him go is the same as what makes Eddie go and if he didn't do it and give it his all than Eddie could never grow complete as a person. To not do it would be the greatest insult to his brother. But Richards is still conflicted and it makes for some terrific moments such as the incredible spot where Richards is going to dragon screw Eddie's hurt leg in the ropes in one of this trademarks spots and hesistates. Eddie has to slap and encourage him on assuring Richards it is the right thing to do not only for Eddie but for Davey himself. Davey still is unsure though but doesn't let it stop him from going all out against Eddie which he displays by talking to him while on the top rope and the awesome "You'll always be my brother" line before finishing him off with the last kick. I knew it was over at this point. So did Davey. Oh yes, and I also love the spirited talking to each other while they were to face and face I was expecting a very emotional post match celebration/interview given who Eddie and Davey are and what they went through but this blew those thoughts out of the water. It's better to be felt than talked about. I was tearing up.
