Sabu's a legend. Put him on any card and I know I'll be there watching. "AAW Heritage Championship Match Shane Hollister vs. Davey Richards" Now unless they had two title matches, I have seen this and it is an excellent match. If one loses their stomach due to viciousness though, you might want to stay away. An all out slobberknocker as JR might say. It just escalates and escalates.

Definitely. This is one of my fav matches of all time from anywhere. The emotion for me is unbelievably high in this one. For the WWF's matches you should see before you die here is just a partial list from me I'd have to give a nod to Angle/Benoit vs Edge/Rey from No Mercy 2002 which is seen by the masses as the best WWF/WWE tag in history. Scary thing is they could've even topped it especially if the WWE was a little less restrictive. Hogan vs Andre Wrestlemania III Steamboat vs Macho Man Maple Leaf Gardens Bret vs DK Bret vs Mr. Perfect King of the Ring Bret vs Yokozuna MSG Cage Match Bret vs Owen Wrestlemania X Bret vs Austin Wrestlemania 13 Bret vs 123 Kid Longer Version Monday Night Raw Eddie vs Bradshaw The too much blood match and Smackdown Cage Eddie vs Benoit Smackdown their last match Tito vs Mr. Perfect WWF SNME Hart Foundation vs Demoliton 2/3 Falls Summerslam 90 Ultimate Warrior vs Ravishing Rick Rude Sumerslam 89 Bret vs Diesil almost the complete series Angle vs Austin Unforgiven? 2001 A ton of Benoit matches though people may have trouble watching them due to the brain damage Hogan vs Rock Wrestlemania And a ton more.

Seconded. It's just one of those awesome majical wrestling experiences that can't be duplicated. It reminds me of TM/DK somewhat in that aspect.

I still remember Ahmed bodyslamming Yokozuna. Incredible.

Sixteen years later, and he's still doing the same thing in TNA. I think it was more of WCW willing to acknowledge the outside wrestling world (esp. in view of working with NJPW and AAA) while WWE generally kept an isolated world view. Yeah, I always liked that about WCW and disliked the WWF for doing that.

It's impossible to completely be able to assess how much damage was done at what points in his career. Wrestling is a dangerous profession.

Yes, that was the way I saw it too. I also heard someone say that the rope went on Primo. -
I remember watching that at the time and really liking it a lot. I'm going to rewatch it. I think I only watched it twice before. RE --- Loves Andre's WWF work Warrior's work too. Does anyone have the match I think perhaps right before Wrestlemania VI where Warrior wrestles Dale Wolfe? on Superstars? I remember he did the military press from inside the ring, than walked over to the ropes while holding Wolfe in the military press before he threw him outside on the mat? I might be remember some of that wrong. Anyone remembering this?

I do not like it when people incorrectly say that people like Bret Hart -- TREMENDOUSLY charasmatic -- or I would say Dean Malenko too aren't charasmatic. Charisma is a lot more than the over the top personas that so many (not saying this is Jerry) associate it with. James Bond or Bruce Lee are charasmatic as anything but they don't have to shout it out from the rooftops. Jerry -- What are your feelings on Arn Anderson being an all time great? One of the best promos of all time and he was very strong in a lot of areas. Plus he has some high end matches.

Considering Jingus said they're down on most cruiserweight matches, no it's not. But your reply was. No actually, it is to be expected even with what Jingus said about them being dowon on other cruiserweiht amtches. -
I agree with a strong percentage of this. Not familiar with Mary Sue so I can't commetn on that but I never liked heroic protagonists who go out of their way to inflict gratuitous suffering on random people. I might like or love some of their personality traits but that trait is HORRIBLE. Yeah, I liked the Rock overall but as some people on the board here know I hate it when people take advantage of correctly or incorrectly percieved weakness in order to make themselves strong. This was a big part of the Rock's personality and it was something I couldn't get behind. That being said, it did and does and always will work as it is something that appeals to the lower part of man. When you combine it with Rock's engaging super charasmatic personality and an excited WWE fanbase, it's going to go over like crazy. People LOOVED the put downs.

Mistico so far is being promoted and is being anticipated by teh WWE fanbase in the same way as what made Mysterio popular in WCW. If his flashiness is toned down than than yeah people who complain about him not being flashy enough are not missing the point of who he is because they are already told that is who he is -- a flashy Rey Mysterio. Mistico right now is a Rey Mysterio (or actually he's being promoted more as a Tiger Mask right now -- mystery/supernatural ability -- by the WWE) People in the WWE Universe are not thinking of comparing Dusty Rhodes to Mistico. They know Mistico in the now, what he is currently and that is what the WWE has shown them. They're thinking of comparing him to other high fliers so they're not missing the "point of who he is". Who Mistico is in the eyes of the WWE fanbase is what he's being promoted at.

I don't see there being any problems with Wrestlemania being showcased heavily on Taker. It's a great thing, not a bad thing. If Taker wants to do Mania than let it be that way.

No it's not very surprising. It's to be expected. -

What do they think of current stuff that is a continuation of cruiser/juniors stuff? In other words, your typical ROH or DG or PWG stuff? I wonder if juniors-style spot wrestling has now gone so far beyond 90s juniors spot wrestling that stuff from 15 years ago is boring. Big heavies like Hansen are drmatic and theatrical, so they're not terribly far removed from say Taker-HHH. John Personally, I find there is a big difference between ROH and say DG. PWG kind of has the same kind of feel as ROH does. This is all true. People who complain especially if it is against the consensus (even if they're wrong) stand out more. Sometimes they can also shout their opinions louder and because their opinions are more against the norm they bring attention to them with other people debating them. This can give a sense of perception that their opinions may be right due to importance. -

Very true. Oh man, my internet connection went just as I clicked on the add reply button. I really liked my post too. It was a great one! Last week, I was watching a match from 2002 and it was everythig that I loved about wrestling. All out organic natural feel, brilliantly innovative, different, INTENSE and smartly put together. Two tag teams giveing it all. I got such a rush just from watching it. I love wrestling because it combines what I like about being a rock star with an athletic exhibition of fighting spirit. I like to use one word to self indentify myself as a wrestling fan. Passionate. If I'm not feeling passion from watching a match, than I'll switch to something else. -

Dibiasise was a strong wrestler who did great at being a heel Santana's high end matches are great. Perfect on SNME was an underrated classic imo. He had at least 2 awesome matches with Savage and a terrific match with Martel on SNME. Santana had the fire, charisma and intensity you need as a babyface to make his matches work. So much so that I noticed the fans at least around me were confused on why he lost so much. I would hear youngsters call him the best wrestler in the WWF while he was actually being depushed. -
[1996-11-24-WCW-World War III] Rey Misterio Jr vs Ultimo Dragon

I always thought the match was very one sided. I know JDW and others have this ranked as one of the best WCW matches of the 90s.- 18 replies

Interesting. Very interesting. What else can one get fined for doing in the ring? -
Have any of these guys ever had good matches?
Resident Evil replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Megathread archive
Are you sober tomk? And yes, Andre did have a match I liked with Kamala. The one where I beleive Andre does the big butt splash off the top rope. It might've been in Ontario iirc. -

Benoit had gone through the dungeon and started working some Stampede. Than he went over to NJPW but this was very, very shortly after becoming a pro in Stampede. He did time there, than came home briefly for Christmas before going back again. I believe his first match was agaisnt Pancrase's legendary Fuanki. I know Funaki's first was against Benoit, a time limit draw. After he finished with NJPW, from than on he was mostly in Stampede (he may have done a few NJPW dates inbetween here) before going back to Japan under the mask in 90 as Pegasus Kid.
