Even those main events aren't guaranteed because they've given Cena some real crap to work even at WrestleMania like Miz & some hodge podge multi man stuff. How is Cena supposed to have a match with Miz that feels worthy of being a WrestleMania main event? No top star has been exposed to worse booking than John Cena and it is something that hurts his case just like everyone else has pluses & minuses to where they worked.

So I happened to remember that there was a Nightmares vs. Fire & Flame match on the Memphis set. I didn't remember anything except that I didn't rank the match very high but The Nightmares hit an awesome stereo dive. So I watched it again and I really under rated this thing. I think I just couldn't get over how outright awful The Nightmares look is in this match. But it's a pretty cool match and a real good look at The Nightmares as they work a normal tag with Fire & Flame and then some "only in Memphis" stuff happens that we don't see. But what you can figure out is that Flame does something to a fan off camera and it causes Jerry Lawler & Randy Hales to run out so you know something fucking happened. They cut to commercial and when we come back Lance says that Fire & Flame are banned from wrestling in the studio and JD Costello brings out the Mod Squad to finish the match with The Nightmares. Then this turns into a total brawl and you get to see that side of The Nightmares also.

In a slight defense of Cena on this point: I know that in a perfect world they all would be, but not every PPV match is a big match. I think in the REAL big matches (outside of The Rock matches, which I thought sucked) when he's actually had a well built feud, he delivers in the big matches. That does also mean he has had stretches of time where his PPV matches have been very lackluster especially a lot of the stuff he was doing in 2010 after the Batista feud. The Cage match with Sheamus is a match that stands out to me as one that really disappointed me at the time.

I may have to check out Lucha Underground. Judge me if you want to, but as soon as I saw they signed Rycklon Stephens (aka Ezekiel Jackson) I was interested. Now if they will just hire Chris Masters...

I didn't put it up because there is pretty much NONE of the match. All we see is Invader get a pin and then as the ref has his back turned Invader tapes his fist up and KOs Dory with it to keep him down for the 10 count for the Texas Death Match. Then we see Terry jump him afterwards, but none of the actual match.

Yes, it's easier. Yes, it's a problem. On the most popular wrestling torrent site the average number of downloads for Network originals like Monday Night Wars or Rivalries is about 400-500. For PPVs, depending on the PPV, it's anywhere between 1,000-1500. I'm not saying you're going to convert all those people into subscribers, or even a large number of them. But there's no reason not to do something to make it harder, or track who is doing it so you can cancel their subscription and scare them with legal letters.

Yes, piracy it still an issue. A lot people who were used to downloading the PPVs an hour after it was over weren't going to pay for anything, like ever. And now with The Network it makes it a lot easier to get a version in good video quality a lot faster.

FWIW if there are any other AWA guys someone wants to make an argument for and video needs to be circulated, I can probably help out with that too. I have samplers of a guy like Leon White, for example, and Col. DeBeers (if Wiskoski gets any love in this thing). Vachon, of course, if he gets into the conversation. Adonis (both with Ventura and as a single), Blackwell 80-85, Slaughter as SD II, plenty more. My preference would be to send out a block of stuff to one person and have them pass it around to whoever needs it (chain mail, similar to the review process for the 80's sets). I'll leave that up to you guys to figure it out if it comes to that. For now, a Bock list is a good starting point. If everyone is willing do things digitally, I have no problem letting everyone use my FTP server.

On a note no one has touched on, I can't believe they haven't done anything to make it harder to rip stuff off of the site. I still think they should have tried to come up with a system like movie studios do now where there is a unique identifier to each theater so they can track if a whole bunch of bootlegs are coming from one place. I don't think it's impossible for them to have a system that could do the same thing with individual accounts and pop the people who immediately go and upload the latest show from The Network onto torrent sites.

Yea, they might have more subscribers right now if they had decided to put all their TV on the Network, but then there is almost no way to grow the audience and it'll be a continual slide down hill as people drop off and quit subscribing for any number of reasons.

What I don't understand is why they will spam my inbox telling me I should resubscribe but not once have they asked me why I stopped giving them my money. I'd be happy to tell them.

I believe that 1 million is the break even point. I don't think those numbers are really THAT bad. Especially considering that there wasn't some huge drop off of people who only wanted Mania and then forgot about the Network. I still think there is the potential to add a lot more subscibers but whether they are ever going to get their shit together and figure out how to improve the content & delivery of the Network, and more importantly the marketing is questionable.

I think Orton is better than a lot of people give him credit for, but this is exactly the reason why and I don't even really fault them. It's the same problem Sheamus is going to have in this thing. There have been a lot of good matches in WWE over the past 5 years but how many of them mattered in the grand scheme of things or were even something you remembered a month later?

I have a soft spot for Stan "Plowboy" Frazier but he feels like a guy who might fit this topic. The Batten Twins were pretty bad also and were around for a long time. Haven't seen Jeff Gaylord mentioned yet but The Missouri Tiger wrestled at least a decade and never looked like he got any better.

The last match between Stubbs/DWB & The Nightmares - Cage Match. Unfortunately they pull the old "show goes off with the match in progress" trick on us but we do get 19 minutes of the match and that's after I cut out commercials. I'll try and get to the rest of the feud soon.

I'm not trying to be a troll, but this is the "worst ever" thread not the "list wrestlers you don't like" thread. I mean I'm not sure I would call Billy or Bart Gunn "good" but I couldn't even begin to place them on a 'Worst Ever" list along the sides of Tiger Jeet Singh. Same deal with Randy Orton & Kane. I mean more likely candidates for this thread would be a guy like Warlord who was nothing without Barbarian, Angelo Mosca Jr. who didn't last long but grew up in the business and was REALLY bad, also maybe Brian Adias as a guy I've never seen do anything remotely interesting but was around a while and had opportunities in WCCW.

I'm not taking anything but wrestling into the equation. I don't equate the performers with the people doing the performances at all. I don't ever care to find out more about the personal lives of people I watch in movies or TV either.

That's kind of a fair point actually. He has a short run in 1983 Georiga that I liked before he headed off to Mid-South but outside of the Mid-South run and Doom there really isn't much for him to hang his hat on. In between Mid-South and WWF he was in the black hole of Central States teaming/feuding with Rufus R. Jones and then his WWF run is completely forgettable.

I think it'd be a super valuable resource for the project actually.

Did he have any other matches in the U.S.? I know there are some semi-legendary stories of guys wrestling him in Nigeria, but this is the only time I know of him traveling here. After viewing the match he's obviously very unpolished but I don't think it's one of the worst performances I've ever seen. He still has those impressive leapfrogs and his botches aren't of the "make you embarrassed to watch wrestling" type I used to see all the time in Divas matches. I really haven't watched any 80s WWF house shows and it's really not even on the list of things I want to see but I know that Honky's pre-WWF career smokes Beefcake's.

I don't care and it wouldn't affect my rating but I could see why that would be a problem in the locker room if someone is hurt and needs to work light.

Just checked and the most stuff you can find of him on youtube is from 1980 Memphis under the name Magnificent Zulu. So that saves me the trouble of looking for stuff. vs. Tony Boyles Even if those 1972 results are from his first year in the business, this is an 8 year pro by 1980. Wrestling this match looking like he's doing a 1991 Undertaker tribute.
