  1. Nice. This site has some great stuff.
  2. I still take out my Terry Funk rubber action figure from when I was a kid to teach my son and nieces and nephews about wrestling. I choose Funk because he pretty much embodies why I love pro wrestling. Flair is my No. 1 because no matter what new setting or era I see him in, he's the best performer 99 percent of the time. Even when I feel like, "Sigh. Another Flair match...." I always end up enjoying what I just saw on my screen.
  3. Are there any real world mods out for the new version yet?
  4. Small sample size, but the people who have responded to this thread so far have voted Funk over Flair by a 3:1 margin, yet all are predicting a win for Flair. Interesting.
  5. A tie wouldn't upset me at all. But the answer to the original question is Flair. Per usual, it won't be a clean victory for Flair, he'll use the ropes to secure the pinfall, but it will be a victory, nonetheless.
  6. In the booking meeting for the Flair vs. Funk GWE showdown, both workers are arguing over who gets to blade first. Bookers are legit worried that both guys may pre-blade in the locker room and juice during their entrance.
  7. Could the Funker really pull this off? When voting started, I knew people would rank Funk as an all-time great, but I didn't think many would list him No. 1. He might end up winning the whole damn thing!
  8. This is going to sound like I'm trolling, but I'm not. I'm genuinely curious: Do we think Bryan's retirement played a big role in moving him up on some lists? We see the same thing happen when musicians die. Artists like Prince and Michael Jackson are very popular, but they reach a whole new level of popularity in the months after they pass. Thankfully, Bryan is still with us, but I wonder if his retirement had a similar effect.
  9. Agreed. But Daniel Bryan over Lawler........grrrrrr.
  10. Alright I'm in the hospital for round 7 of chemo treatment and am firing up the Hales Bros. pod!
  11. There appears to be a significant bias in favour of WWF/WCW guys who worked during the 80's and 90's. Four of the top 10 are going to be Japanese workers. Five of the top 10 are going to be guys who primarily worked Japan. Another top 10 finisher worked in the indies and WWE in the 2000s. Another worked Mexico, mid-90s WCW and 2000s WWE. Not sure I see a significant bias toward 80s and 90s WWF/WCW guys.
  12. Flair is assuming he'll finish No. 1 on the PWO GWE list and has apparently already begun celebrating. http://deadspin.com/ric-flair-had-a-rough-morning-at-logan-airport-1773402986?utm_campaign=socialflow_deadspin_twitter&utm_source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow
  13. That's just not the case though. Tenryu got more and more creative with his spots and counter spots. He would go out of his way to make mid carders and de facto jobbers look as good as possible. For the record, Tenryu was my number 2 and i was the low vote on Jumbo at 82. Admittedly, later career Tenryu is a bit of a blind spot for me. It's just been weird hearing the criticisms lobbed at Jumbo during this process and thinking, "That's EXACTLY how I feel about Tenryu." I had Jumbo 4th and Tenryu 37th.
  14. Jumobo out of the top 10?!?! Damn you, Dylan! Damn you! Just kidding. It's disappointing to see Jumbo out of the top 10, but I am glad he finished above Tenryu. The criticisms lobbed at Jumbo about being disinterested and overly stoic are my criticisms of Tenryu.
  15. I once wore an "I Broke Wahoo's Leg" t-shirt to the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, and I had people asking me about "the band on your shirt" all weekend long. LOL. I wonder how people would react if you wore it to a Cleveland Indians game.
  16. Vader has appeal to folks who are into mainstream WWE, WCW, shoot style, Japan and even the indies. If you look at it that way, it's doesn't really surprise me that he appeared on so many ballots. Edit: And his brief stint in AWA is well regarded and has gotten a lot of love over the last couple of years. Great match w/ Hansen.
  17. I'd say Buddy Rose broke through that as well.
  18. And the generous guy who started it is giving the winner (if there is one) $10.
  19. I LOVE seeing Arn in the top 20. However I can understand why some might think that's too high. I'm actually surprised Macho Man didn't finish higher. Based on my unscientific observations, a lot of voters seemed to factor in a wrestler's character work and there was no better character than Savage.
  20. Casas falling now could cause some folks on this board to completely lose their minds. To help prevent this from happening, I think it's time for another quick Kamala interlude: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBBIfYFlIOA
  21. Agree with all of this. He had good matches while leading the biggest wresting boom in history. Before that, he had good to great stuff in Texas and WCW. I don't get why Austin finishing where he did has some folks so worked up.
  22. I did. And I did adress why. Familiar with the AWA stuff and the Hennig feud in Portland. Basically : not seen enough for him to go higher. I'll be honest, I've heard so much hardcore pimping of Buddy Rose Portland years, that I have a hard time believing it can live up to such a hype at this point. I'll only know if/when I'll check it out. Yep. I had Austin at #61. Really enjoyed his entire WCW stint, it's actually his WWF Attitude Era years that hurt him. Basically, nothing stands out after his injury except the Foley matches (and the Taker SummerSlam match), then he has ons of bad stuff (like mostly everybody else) until he comes back and has maybe his best year ever in 2001. I just need to see his rookie USWA feud against Chris Adams. As long as you can stomach some pretty bad violence against women in the feud, you'll love it.
  23. I love Barry, but I don't see how he can rank above Buddy Rose.
  24. Totally forgot about the Monday Jericho shirt (No. 30 on the what a culture list). I own that one too!
  25. There it is. Thanks!
