One of the great booking decisions Baba ever did. To have essentially your co-Ace on the native side out of half the match, and give Kawada such an amazing amount of shine was a big move. This would be copied in the inverse on 6/9/95, but this was sensational because Kawada actually looked like had a shot at times given Gordy’s placement. Just incredible stuff.

I should have guessed Suzuki would have shown up given he’s doing his long US tour. Should be fun at Full Gear.

Main show should have Excalibur/Ross/Tony.

There are a million ways to book the match, and I have all the confidence that they know how to make both guys shine.

Again, feels like this was a show that was booked a while in advance, but didn’t have the ability to pivot nearly as well given at the right moments. Like they had the card ready, we’re gonna do what the plan was, circumstances be damned. I don’t think I’ve really seen that from Tony yet as a booker, and I don’t know what the feedback loop looks like there, but it’s pretty easy to know that how you end a show the most important part, and that wasn’t it.
