I loved him in the 2003 G-1 Climax, but I think I'm with a lot of people now who have realized that really was him getting carried to his best matches. No shot.
-
He stood out in Toryumon and NJPW a bit and he had some straight-up carny submissions at times, but he also wrestled in an era I didn't like when it came to Japanese juniors wrestling. I know he was well-liked in the states because he was on TNA, but I don't see him for this.
-
Actually a pretty compelling character and probably one of Heyman's Top 5 mirages as far as credible guys who were shit in the ring. I did like that when he got in shape for WWECW that he still had a boiler on him. No chance for this list, though.
-
I like the JBL/Booker comparison, too. They were presented well and did the most with their pushes, but more often than not, the wrestling never matched up unless they were partnered with someone better (Benoit for Booker, Eddy for JBL). I don't see it.

Nope. I know why she was nominated, but even her best stuff doesn't touch the other female nominees. In an era where modern wrestling gets shit on more for not being better than stuff from the past, Trish is getting smoked by the NXT women right now and none of them are gonna make my ballot.

He's fine, and his career arc has some interesting peaks, but I don't think he ever did something that made me want to see more of him, honestly. He was a good flyer base and took all that punishment from RVD, but I think the aura of Jerry Lynn was what pushed the idea of Jerry Lynn as an actual great worker.
-
Is he one of the guys where TNA actually helped him out a bit? I know people loved him in ROH because his fireball angle at Reborn jumpstarted the post-RF era, but I really liked him in LAX and when he got an opportunity to shine, he really went with it. I don't think I'll have him on my list, but he's one of those guys that some of the newer fans will probably push hard for.

Liked her tagging with Hasegawa, and she stood out in an era where joshi tag team wrestling wasn't really that refined outside of what Toyota and Yamada were doing. Don't think she'll be close to my list, though.
-
Just doesn't have enough for a project like this, but on a per-match basis, he's got some good ones.
-
Both the Mesias brawls are incredible, MOTYC. Santo one was pretty good offhand but I don't remember much.

Even the Misawa/Kawada NOAH Dome Match, which is a billion magnitudes removed from 6/3/94 is a pretty good match. I wouldn't call it great, though. I'd say his last great match was with Hash, even though the leg selling gets a bit weird. A really epic match that delivered on first watch and stood the test of time on a recent re-watch. I liked some of his stuff from 2001, but nothing really stood out outside of leading Kojima and Tenzan to some pretty good matches. The first Kawada/Mutoh match was fine, too. But after the knee injury and his return, it just wasn't the same guy outside the Hash match, which it looked like was him trying to have one last great match, whereas the Misawa match was very much so Misawa by the numbers at that point.

I'll take it to my grave that Kobashi was the least of the four. Taue gets shit on for not being as dynamic as the other guys, which makes the nickname "Dynamic T" that much more awesome. I don't know if I think Taue's the best, as Kawada is the best seller I've ever seen and Misawa is the quintessential ace in my eyes, but I'm wondering if I'll be the high vote on Taue in the GWE poll.

It's weird to think that a team actually revolutionized television wrestling in 2012-2014, but was there any team/group better from the moment they first teamed to their final match together against Evolution? Reigns and Rollins vs. the Rhodes Brothers at Battleground was a great match with a hot crowd that saved that bullshit PPV for me. The 6-mans are too many to name, really. I'd love to find room for them on the list, but they aren't shoe-ins like some of the other teams.
-
They had a really tremendous "Before they were LCO" match against Toyota and Yamada on 1/24/94 that stands as one of the best non-Kansai/Ozaki tag matches Toyota and Yamada ever had. But I'm with Jerome, here. They were definitely one of the great heel teams of the decade and stand out amongst the go-go-go stuff that was so pervasive in joshi. I think I'm gonna have room for them on my list, but it's going to be tough.

I like these guys way more than the Funks, but want to see a bit more of them before I make a decision about them being on the list. Even in their later years when they were getting chased by Steamer and Youngblood, they could still go, so they've intrigued me.
-
Of the early AJPW RWTL stuff, I thought Dory was way better in a tag setting, but him slowing things down after what Funk would do in some of those great brawls threw me off too much. I think he was a fine, totally capable worker, but I don't think I could see these guys making my list when the team dynamic worked a lot better within other teams that even featured lesser workers.
-
A lot of their stuff doesn't hold up that well, but they were very good garbage wrestlers that used plunder effectively. Good promos, but not what I'm putting a lot of stock in on a list like this. Won't make it.
-
I want to find some space for them on my list because they were probably my favorite ECW act ever and they could go. I could see them getting in at the bottom of my list.

Sasha/Becky is a legit MOTYC and might be in my Top 5. Someone gave an Ozaki comp to Sasha Banks and I about marked the fuck out for that stepping armbar. Absolutely nasty looking. She's surpassed Charlotte for sure, but I'm hoping she and Charlotte get one more match together at some point. The one thing I didn't like about the main was that they did that whole ref thing at the end again and didn't really determine if the match was over or not. They did a great job setting up the shoulder issue with Zayn (much like they did with Itami) and Owens is the best menacing heel I've seen in a long time. He's added a ton to it in such a short time it's mindblowing. I agree that Joe's music wasn't the best, but man, when he walked out and threw the towel down, I was excited as all hell. Owens/Joe is gonna be legitimately incredible, especially with Joe having really put in work in the last couple of months to get in shape. Hopefully Owens' balky knee allows him to get in shape, too, because they're gonna really have to come up huge. I think I'm out on Balor at this point, too. The entrance is cool, but he's going through the motions in many ways. He's also quickly becoming a bit overshadowed with what's happening at the top of the card, and I don't really see how he's going to fit in other than just lining up to job to Owens again. You wonder if the NXT top guys getting shots at Cena is going to lead to something over the summer that plays into SummerSlam somehow, but with Zayn out, along with Itami (who it seems was going to be the guy to get the title shot had he not gotten injured) you wonder who's gonna get left behind if Owens actually gets the push to the main roster full time. Joe seems like someone who won't be at NXT for long, either. Suffice to say, the interest level for me is at an all-time high.

I think a lot of it is how he sputtered out with WWE not taking him due to medical issues and then the TNA Hep B diagnosis. I still have vivid memories of the Driven match in my head. Watched it twice and thought it was an incredible match just due to how hard he and Bryan worked and the lengths they went to in order to play off their previous matches. When he decided to just start ripping off peoples heads with the lariat, he had found his niche, but he DID have the tendency to go overboard at times. I'd say he was a top worker for at least three years, maybe four depending on how people liked his Euro-heavy stuff before he became The Man in ROH.

The "Confirmed Stories of Triple H Being A Total Douchebag" Thread
Timbo Slice replied to sek69's topic in WWE
I still think the conspiracy theory that he's trying to gather support around him before going to Vince and getting him ousted holds water. Or if it isn't in place, he's thought about it before. -
In the early days of ROH, he was a Top 5 worker in my eyes behind Dragon, Lo Ki, Styles and Joe. I echo Dylan's sentiments about him being underrated because we thought he might get a bigger push than he did, but his stuff with Spanky was really fun and I actually liked the Kidman feud, as the No Mercy match might have been Kidman's best match ever and has one of the great SSP meeting the knees spots ever. He's one of the guys who I wonder what would have happened if he actually hadn't gone to WWE, because I think he matched up well with all the great workers that got big time indy runs in the mid 2000s. I'm not sure he'll make my list, but he's got a better case than many might think.

Wanted to get this thread started now because of some news that broke a couple hours ago from a wReddit insider that got picked up by SBNation: http://www.sbnation.com/2015/5/15/8613721/samoa-joe-wwe-rumors-debut-nxt-takeover-unstoppable Pretty sure it's the right move, and with all the injuries that have been sustained, he's coming in at a very opportune time.
