I think this situation is begging for a Bix call to WOL. -

Dana didn't take a shot at WWE. He made a Youtube video where he called out MMA journalist Loretta Hunt on writing an unfavorable story and called one of her anonymous sources a "faggot." GLAAD complained and he apologized and is going to be lowering his public profile for a while. The thread on the board was someone asking why this was news at all. I went back and read the whole thread and I still don't know what Dave meant. -

After the past two days, I want Ricky Steamboat to come back full-time. That may be selfish of me, considering his injuries and all, but come on. If Finlay can do it with one good leg, so can the Dragon. After Orton wins the title from HHH, I want to see Ricky challenge him for the belt. And win! This could be the Rocky Balboa storyline Dave was begging for with Flair two years ago. No way it happens, of course. I also like how Michael Cole's "Vintage ______" has now become a comedy spot. -
Whatever happened to the "old timers?"

CRZ has his own site at the-w.com Ganc is still an admin at DVDVR, but he hasn't posted in two months or so. His username is ^..^ or something like that. Last I remember his name was filtered on the site because I think he worked for one of Sun Myung Moon's newspapers and he didn't want his bosses finding out about his wrestling-mod hobby. -

I didn't understand where he was coming from with that. Is he talking about the early 90s WWF accusations? Or the Catholic church scandal? And what on earth does that have to do with Dana White dropping the gay f-bomb? -
Well, that match order was all wrong! MITB was awesome. Shelton and Kofi had an ugly moment in there but everything else was great. Divas battle royal was hilariously rushed. They didn't even get intros and the old divas like Sunny and Jackie were barely mentioned, even in passing (Molly's name wasn't even mentioned until she was eliminated.) Piper actually did a dropkick and a sunset flip against Jericho. But Steamboat, as expected, put in a really good performance. Obviously he was extremely rusty and he's also 55 or so, but he did all his signature spots and took some bumps he probably shouldn't have. It was just nice to see him back for one night. Hardys match was good enough. I'm glad Matt went over. His new tights are an improvement over those awful pants he's been wearing for years. JBL must be really hurting to get squashed in such a manner. Rey was supposed to look like The Joker but looked like a terrible indy Doink instead. Amazing. Michaels-Undertaker was even more awesome than I expected. In my humble opinion, with which none of you will likely agree, it may have been the best match of Taker's career. I'd give it *****. It was everything a Wrestlemania main event should be. Too bad it wasn't the main event. Three-way was good enough. I like Cena but I'm so tired of him and Edge as champ that I sort of wish Show had won. His ECW title run was fun until his back really started flaring up and it would be a change of pace. HHH-Orton was unbelievably disappointing. They tried to surprise people by having both guys hit their finishes in the first two minutes but everything else was standard and formulaic. Standard and formulaic works a lot of the time but for a Wrestlemania main event, especially between two guys who have had so many matches before, you expect a little more. And HHH going over turned me off, but Orton winning wouldn't have made it a good match. Overall thumbs up show but the last match could have made it a classic, and it wasn't.

Is it just me or is this board kind of dead? We have Mania tonight, a new ROH champion, the Hall of Fame yesterday and none of that has been discussed at all. Maybe it's just not an exciting time to be a wrestling fan. -
Slam! Wrestling article on anti-semitism in pro wrestling

I don't know how calling Ali "Cassius Clay" is the most damning indication of racism you can find. I suppose it is a "slave name", but you know, that is the name he had when he first debuted. Some people are going to call Paul Reubens "Pee-Wee Herman" no matter what. You want racism? -

I hate to bring the B.S. from that board over here, but since you want to know: Mike, the owner/admin over there, sold half the board to a poster called Leena, who has literally spent nearly half a decade trolling, flaming, stealing accounts, and generally screwing with everyone at TSM. So that led to a bunch of people leaving the board in protest, then the Leena deal fell through and it's basically been anarchy over there for the past couple of days. So yeah, message boards, huh? -

Ben Miller: I wonder exactly which promo he's referring to. He cut a promo when he re-assembled ECW basically saying "This isn't WWF, this isn't WCW, this is ECW." And that was two weeks before Invasion. The promos he cut in the week before the show were "Hey Molly, join the Alliance and get breast implants" and "Hey Vince, you killed your dad and I'm bringing back wrestling." The big promo everyone remembers was three days before Survivor Series, and it really wasn't any great shakes either. Invasion drew because (1) Interpromotional always draws unless you Alliance it, but this was before they managed to kill it and (2) because of THEOLDSTONECOLD. -
I still don't get what was so creepy about this.

I just wish these two were feuding in TNA. Russo could come up with some great material for them. Taker: Do you remember the Fleet Center, Shawn? You didn't want to lay down...BUT I MADE YOU. West: Oh, we all know what he's talking about! Tenay: He's shooting here, folks! Michaels: Oh really, Mark? You want to talk about not laying down? Do the words "I'm not feeling it" ring a bell? Tenay: BOY IS THAT EVER STIFF! And then they would have a match later in the night that would end in a DQ when Booker T would beat them both up in a 1-on-2 attack. -

Well that promo did remind me a bit of Schiavone's legendary intro to Havoc '93. I still enjoyed it. -
No, but Savage blamed Hogan for the breakup of his marriage. I think the story is that Liz became friends with Linda and opened up about how unhappy she was in the marriage, and the support of the Hogans gave her the strength to leave him. I'm also pretty sure she stayed with them after leaving Randy.

I think a court ruled that since he was "Honky Tonk" Wayne Ferris before WWF, he could continue to wrestle as HTM. After all, he couldn't have used the gimmick in WCW otherwise. -

http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/8643/ Not exactly a shock. I hate to speculate on cause of death, but keep in mind that this is the guy so who was juiced up even TNA had to get rid of him because it made them look bad.

People are overreacting, but it goes to show how they're dipping into the lower rungs to fill out the HOF roster. Is Ware the least-accomplished HOF inductee ever or is that Johnny Rodz? -

Don't forget that on the now-defunct WWE Confidential, they blamed the downfall of WCW on 1) DX invading the Norfolk Scope and 2) Paying Bret Hart $3 million per year even though he never drew 100,000 people to Budokan Hall like Hulk Hogan did. The bullshit in this thing will be HILARIOUS. -

I was leafing through the "History of Wrestlemania" magazine at the grocery store. It's funny when they have to ignore Benoit's existence while at the same time recognize the matches he took part in. Like in the results for WMXX: ... Eddie Guerrero defeated Kurt Angle to retain the WWE Championship The Undertaker defeated Kane Triple H lost the World Heavyweight Championship; Triple Threat Match Or "Kurt Angle wasn't pinned, but lost both the Intercontinental and European championships in a triple threat match." Just don't list the match, for cryin' out loud. -

I just heard on Observer Radio that they are doing a Rise and Fall of WCW DVD. I'm sure it'll be fair and evenhanded!
