  1. When did Meltzer wish death on anyone?
  2. As we learned tonight, apparently WWE doesn't feel the same.
  3. That jdw's avatar looks like Kawada is getting plowed from behind only makes this whole thing more disturbing.
  4. No, the Gross thread was the last war of words between the two.
  5. Didn't Dustin go on a months-long undefeated streak booked by his father during '91? That's going to lead to criticism no matter how good a guy is. During what time period did Meltzer think Badd deserved Dustin's push? Not '91, I hope.
  6. Dolph doesn't exactly have room to be pissed since he failed a test a few months ago. Nor should he be since he's likely winning the title next week.
  7. Are WWE and Rey still having monetary disputes? It's fairly obvious that WWE covers up failures for top stars, so they must have an ulterior motive. Unless this is like his 5th failure and they were finally like "enough is enough!"
  8. According to PWInsider (by way of the F4W board), WWE is looking to raid a few guys from ROH because they are mad about ROH doing a "wrestling returns to Monday night" campaign. Bryan Alvarez posted this on Sunday night: And then six hours or so later the Danielson thing was announced. LOLvarez.

  10. Luger never failed a WWF drug test because he took good masking agents. I don't see how that reflects upon a love of the business.
  11. He had two good matches with Pillman and one with Steamboat. I win.
  12. He announced his retirement at last night's TNA tapings. He announced his return to the ring at tonight's TNA tapings. Will he be as good as he was before? Only time will tell.
  13. I remember when the Undertaker's gimmick was that he crucified people and tried to enbalm Steve Austin alive. I think I would have faulted him had he tried it IRL. Also, when has HGH use been part of Angle's gimmick on TV?
  14. You see, this would never happen in WWE. Rhaka wouldn't dare call the cops on Angle if they were working for Vince because she'd get fired for making a top Entertainer look bad, just like when B.B. got axed for dating the kinda-but-not-really married Bob Holly. Dixie needs to keep those bitches in line. IT'S A MAN'S WORLD
  15. Angle shows why the 35-year age minimum is still too low. At least part of the rationale for Kurt's induction had to be an assumption that he would continue to work at his '02/'03 level for years to come. He didn't. I'm not a fan of inducting guys in their primes anyway. It would be impossible to not induct anyone until they retire, since nobody retires in wrestling, but at least let their careers wind down a bit.
  16. Ha This would be Brian Pillman's mentor Kim Wood. Was Pillman already wrestling by this point?
  17. I'll immediately reference the Amy Winehouse song so that someone else doesn't. No, no, no. There. I guess the idea is supposed to be that Punk is exaggerating Jeff's drug problem. So when he talks about how he didn't go to rehab, he's saying "Hey, my problem was never THAT bad!" (On a related note, anyone remember Jeff's hilarious and sad addict-in-denial interviews he gave after being fired in 2003? "I didn't fail a test for drugs, I failed a test for A drug.") I think it was on the LAW that Meltzer and the hosts of the show speculated that perhaps the company is bringing all this stuff to the forefront as a ploy to get Jeff to stay because if he disappears after all this talk of his drug test failures, fans will think he got a third strike and was fired. I can't say for sure that all this stuff is solely due to his leaving, as it does make a perfect storyline considering his feud with Punk. But the timing is very interesting. And so is the role reversal of the anti-drug crusader being a bad guy and the addict being the hero. How very Attitude Era of them. Has it ever come out what exactly Jeff failed for last year. Between the comments that his failure was due to "immaturity" and HHH's comments about "the wacky pills," I'm thinking LSD or Ecstasy.
  18. I'm watching Halloween Havoc 1990, and does anyone else think 1990 WCW deserves the criticism that 1993 gets? For all the talk of how WWE likes to make wrestlers look bad in their hometowns, everyone forgets that WCW had Luger's 20-month US title reign end in Chicago, in a clean job to a really shitty-looking lariat from Stan Hansen. And the main event finish with Sid pinning Barry Windham in Sting paint was one of those things that's a good idea in theory, and WWE today probably could pull it off well, but in practice it was awkward, confusing and made both guys look like crap. Sid, the big monster heel, had no chance of winning the belt unless he got one of his buddies to tie up his opponent and pull a switcheroo with him, and Sting, the top babyface, can't beat Sid without hitting him with the belt, which curiously didn't get him disqualified. My favorite shot is the replay at the end of Sting coming back through the crowd, seeing Windham dressed like him from head to toe as part of the Horsemen's diabolical scheme, and just glancing as he passes by as though to say, "Man, that shit's wacky." Hit him! That's what Hogan would do! I'm glad I wasn't watching wrestling back then.
  19. Am I the only one who really liked the Schiavone/Ventura team? While I'd never say that he was better than JR, I thought Tony had better chemistry with Jesse. I'm a Heenan fan but WCW announcing took a step down when he joined.
  20. Can anyone make this part of that diatribe less "WTF?" for me? Dave's last trip to Japan was pretty R-rated.
  21. But it's not questionable whether Kane is a bigger star than Jeff Hardy. He's not.
  22. Mania 3 he was out with an injury I think. He turned face and befriended Hogan again in '87. He left in December.
  23. When did he do this exactly? He didn't. He swore up and down that it WAS his use of steroids and other drugs in the past that was messing with his thyroid. I guess he didn't want us to think he was just eating and not exercising.
  24. The point is that WWE wants to present their wrestlers as cool but they can't be because they are scripted by a combination of old people, geeks, and old geeks. For all the talk of Austin's heel turn and the invasion angle (which were the big reasons for the decline in fans, don't get me wrong), I think a pretty huge turn-off in 2001 was WWE's increased emphasis on comedy (which Vince preferred to call "humor" or "ha-ha") to the point where every match seemed to be bookended by Debra baking cookies or Steve Blackman holding a kendo stick between his legs in silhouette. They've managed to rein it in quite a bit since then. But when it's there, it's real bad.
