  1. Darryl Van Horn has brought in Nubian virgins to make Prince Kharis more comfortable before going into his SMW title match. It's a MUMMY. He says when he's finished with DWB, he'll be turning tricks for some chickenhawk on the streets of San Francisco and Dirty White Girl will return to her old job as the primary test subject for the Monistat Corporation. He proves that Prince Kharis can't be hurt by cutting one of his fingers off with a pair of scissors! Really! DWB interrupts and says no one believes this guy is 3000 years old. He flicks the hat off of Darryl Van Horn's head. DWB ends up fighting with the guy but Darryl throws sand in DWB's eyes and he gets attacked.
  2. I don't know, Cornette threw plenty of clever lines in his promos in JCP too. Was he just trying to pop the boys?
  3. Jim Cornette hypes up the debuting Bruiser Bedlam. Good idea to just have him stand there and look tough while Cornette does most of his promo for him. When he finally talks, he reminds me of a smaller Road Warrior Animal in his speaking style and body type.
  4. This one is to Bon Jovi's "Sleep When I'm Dead". They are pushing Jericho as the wild guy and Storm as the straight-laced one. Jericho and Storm are out on the town and Jericho wakes up hungover the next morning while Storm tries in vain to get him out of bed, only to have pillows thrown at him. As cheesy as it gets.
  5. This segment fell flat. Eddie asks Doug to be special referee for the upcoming match at Mid South Coliseum. I can't figure out what they're trying to do with Eddie, because everyone seems annoyed by his presence. He's playing the babyface, but the announcers aren't putting him over. I guess this is around the time Jerry Jarrett started getting impatient with all the walkouts.
  6. Clip from MSC. Eddie Gilbert shows up and accidentally burns his brother Doug with a fireball. In the post-match, Rich and Dream Machine attack Gilbert when he gets in their faces. Lawler and Christopher finally come to the rescue, and Adam Bomb is there for some reason to attack Gilbert too. This goes on way too long.
  7. That camera angle completely exposes Cowboy Bass's chairshots. The Moondogs have regressed like crazy in two years.
  8. I will feature your picture in local newspapers as a tax cheat.
  9. Bret's tights change color in the middle of the segment. I wonder what made them re-shoot this. Anyway, Bret and Owen are about to face each other again.
  10. Shawn introduces the Heartbreak Hotel concept. I really thought he was doing it before this point, but I guess he wasn't. Shawn mentions that they aren't done with Razor Ramon just yet, and says Diesel would like to challenge Razor for the IC title.
  11. They start by showing a clip of the Hogan interview where his son asked him if he could beat Flair. Flair talks directly to Nick and says he could beat Hogan with the snap of his fingers. He invites Hogan to watch Flair beat Steamboat at ringside at Spring Stampede. Was that planned at this point? Steamboat is out to take exception to this. Flair says if Steamboat has an issue, he too can watch Flair in the ring the following week, and offers him a ringside ticket at Center Stage. He says maybe he's forgotten what it's like to be around greatness, which gets a big "ooooh" from the crowd. Flair is fantastic here. I guess I'm glad Hogan wasn't at ringside for Flair/Steamboat. Talk about a weird mixing of wrestling worlds.
  12. GREAT feature on Vader, interspersed with him and Race mixing in various "V" words like VICIOUS, VICTORIOUS and VILE. Well, it wouldn't be WCW without some cheese. Vader and Race do a fun interview to cap things off.
  13. Good match given 10 minutes on TV. Candido especially works really well with the Rock & Rolls and he and Lee pick up a win.
  14. Dutch's guest is Tammy Fytch. She mentions that Dirty White Girl can have her singles match that she keeps asking for if she gets her butt out there. Tammy says she can't have a singles match with her, and Peggy Lee Leather attacks her from behind. Dutch Mantel tries to intervene and she bodyslams him!
  15. They keep stressing that this show was taped before the Bluegrass Brawl, which is smart. Cornette does one of his fall-out-of-bed promos about running Bob Armstrong out of SMW.
  16. They show a highlight of the Marietta house show where Bob Armstrong received an award for being such a great ambassador for the town. This show is notable for the WWF loaning some big stars to them since they were promoting in WCW's backyard. Armstrong is back at the "studio" and mentions Cornette's recent claims that he has a mystery man coming in to take him out. Bob Armstrong throws off more great lines than I could ever do justice in response.

"There's an old saying, 'Jackasses can't run with race horses'. I wish he'd learn that, because that man right there is the biggest jackass I know." -- Bob Armstrong -- SMW TV 04/02/94
  18. Let's get to know Chris Jericho and Lance Storm! Jericho talks about how he got into wrestling. Storm also mentions volleyball and how it helped him develop his great leaping ability everyone keeps noticing. Jericho mocks the absurdity of that statement. Jericho mentions his two bands -- Great Caesar's Ghost and Black Stone Menace, and his fandom of Beavis and Butthead. They make sure to mention that they are not married. Storm wants a girl who is a little more quiet, while Jericho wants a girl who is breathing and has a couple of ears and eyes. I'm not really sure what to think of this.
  19. Gene interviews Hogan on the set of Thunder In Paradise. Hogan takes exception to Gene stirring things up between him and Flair. He mentions that he recently tucked his son Nick into bed and he said, "Daddy, one day, I'm going to get in a car wreck that will bankrupt you." Oh wait, he said, "Daddy, I have seen the tapes and you were the greatest of all time. But can you beat The Man Ric Flair?" Hogan says if he ever decides to climb into the ring, Gene will be the first to know.

  21. Three minutes of highlights that are pretty great. Spectacular clips.
  22. I will make you work on all the weekends and all the holidays.
  23. When people say they don't understand the point about AAA being Sports Entertainment Lucha Libre, this is the match you tell them to watch. It would have been the best luchadore six-man in WCW history had it happened there. Here, it's disappointing and feels out of place in its environment. I used to not understand when people would say they didn't like the Japanese influence in lucha, but after watching this match, I get it. It's a styles clash and I don't really Eddy and Kanemoto trading suplexes. The Los Gringos Locos schtick is lots of fun at times, and it's really over, but it doesn't feel very lucha. Add in Los Gringos Locos turning on Panther and this feels ... cheap.
  24. What's the best 70s Joshi?

    Matches of the month

Lots of people have impressed and it's really too early to say, but at this point ... probably Bull Nakano.
