[1992-11-14-WCW-Saturday Night] Dustin Rhodes vs The Barbarian
Loss replied to Loss's topic in November 1992
Fun little match with Dustin entering the ring injured and overcoming the odds to win. Barbarian displays some terrific power moves. This is a good showing for him.- 7 replies

[1992-11-14-SMW-TV] Down and Dirty: Bob Armstrong / Kevin Sullivan commercial
Loss replied to Loss's topic in November 1992
Dutch's guest is Bob Armstrong. Bob had time to sit on his decision and says Sullivan is still banned from TV, but he doesn't want him to get away with what he did, so he can show up at the arenas if he wants, but Bob has someone really scary waiting on him .. the Mongolian Stomper! We get some cool 70s era footage of Armstrong vs Stomper. Bob was BORN for this role and should be commissioner of every single wrestling promotion. Then we get an amazing Kevin Sullivan video to "Sympathy For The Devil" that's a paid advertisement, leading in to a vignette where he's in Satanic-looking gear sitting by a fire and saying some harsh words about Bob Armstrong and SMW ... "allegations, lies and incinuendos ..." Incinuendos? He has a tombstone with Brian Lee's name on it. Modern wrestling would benefit by having more madmen. SMW is suddenly a zillion times more interesting.- 7 replies

First we get another Moondogs vignette, this time of them destroying a barn. Then, we go to the studio and Doug Gilbert does an interview before his match. He mentions that Eddie is in Philly today to wrestle Terry Funk. Hey, we should go see that match! The Moondogs end up attacking him during his match and wrapping him in barbed wire. Lawler finally makes the save with some weapons in tow. Lawler and Gilbert then do an interview hyping up a six-man barbed wire match at Mid South Coliseum.

[1992-11-14-WWF-Superstars] Update: Ultimate Warrior out, Mr Perfect in
Loss replied to Loss's topic in November 1992
Warrior is out of Survivor Series. No further explanation is provided, but we get highlights of Prime Time Wrestling of Savage selecting Mr. Perfect as his partner and a fresh interview to cap it off. The full angle is included later on the set. The idea that Flair wanted to be like Mr. Perfect, though, is ridiculous by any standard. -
[1992-11-07-WCW-Saturday Night] Rick Rude vs Barry Windham
Loss replied to Loss's topic in November 1992
Rude has no moustache! Jake is on commentary explaining the psychology behind holds and I've decided he missed his calling post-wrestling career, because he is phenomenal. About what you'd expect a 10-minute match between these two to be at this point in time. Both are in the middle of a hot run, and this is a good match for both. I would have really liked to have seen 10 more minutes of this, because there some interesting things, like Windham countering the Rude Awakening by simply holding the top rope. Solid match that was working toward great with more time to get there.- 11 replies

[1992-11-07-WCW-Saturday Night] Brian Pillman, Tom Zenk and Paul E. Dangerously

This is insane! Ridiculously violent and I'm surprised I've never heard about this. After all the blood, there are mic problems, swearing on the air, etc., which just adds to the moment. This is the most memorable thing I've seen on the yearbooks from either '92 or '93 for SMW.

[1992-11-07-SMW-TV] Interview: Jim Cornette & Heavenly Bodies
Loss replied to Loss's topic in November 1992
Four Faces of Fear hype! Cornette hypes Thanksgiving Thunder: Rock & Rolls vs Bodies in four consecutive matches over four consecutive days, with the titles on the line in each one -- Texas Death, Falls Count Anywhere, Barbed Wire cage match and Street fight. If that doesn't draw in this group, what would?- 6 replies

Lawler is Unified champ again, beating Todd Champion to regain the title. Yes, we live in a world where Todd Champion was at one point competitive with Jerry Lawler, although I think with some seasoning he might have become good at some point if this match is any indication. Jeff Jarrett was special referee for some reason, and we get some clips of the match while Lawler talks briefly. Jeff is WAAAAAAY too involved in this match. Then, we get Richard Lee on top of "Moondog Mountain" complaining about Eddie Gilbert as we tour the Moondogs house. The place is not exactly a nice one, but this would edge out Redman as the best episode of MTV Cribs of all time.

Really good video to some Tom Petty song I don't recognize. Now that Bret's the champ, I suppose it's time to start presenting him like one.

Good match, but sometimes, I hate Kyoko Inoue. For a great wrestler, she has some annoying habits, like tossing Bull around like a ragdoll without any real struggle. I know Bull is a willing bumper, but Kyoko is Toyota-lite without quite as strong a body of work. The other three, of course, rule throughout. I used to love Aja Kong and I still do, but the more Bull I see, the more secondary Aja becomes. Aja and Hokuto are MUCH better at working the size difference and selling for each other. Really, every pairing here works except Bull/Kyoko, and even that is good most of the time. Hokuto does an incredible top rope splash on Kyoko, who is all the way across the ring. Athletically, she looks like the best wrestler in the world. Not a hidden classic, but a great match, and one I'd consider a critical yearbook pick because it really provides an interesting look at all four outside of their Established Classics.

This really built nicely. Well paced, and another example of Hasegawa showing more talent than her push. Not sure if this was the dynamic they were going for, but this really felt like a midcard team pushing a main event team to the limit, almost like a RWTL match that ends up being way better than it has any right to be. They work holds really well, but Toyota still gets to do all the stuff she does well ... without a lot of the stuff she does that normally drives me crazy. Yamada is awesome and has become one of my favorites. They don't really telegraph the draw like you might think they would either. FLIK is right that this manages to avoid the pitfalls of many long matches. I think this is my first Debbie Malenko match, and she's more over with the AJW audience than I would have expected. She also puts on a really terrific performance. I don't know anything about her really, but I'd be interested in finding out what the best stuff of her career was.

[1992-10-31-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler & Jeff Jarrett & Eddie Gilbert vs The Moondogs

[1992-10-31-WWF-Superstars] Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty
Loss replied to Loss's topic in October 1992
Of course this was great! Jannetty returns after being gone all year and turns it loose on Shawn. I wish they hadn't made the focus on Sherri getting KO'd with the mirror, but this was still really well done. Who would have thought at the beginning of 1992 that they'd be looking to The Rockers to get a hot, upper card program going before the end of the year?
