  1. Man, the last thing WWE can afford right now is to lose more talent, especially guys with experience that are somewhat established.
  2. I'm not a Styles fan at all, but I 100% side with him not wrestling on the ROH show. As Gabe said, plastic surgery could be required if his lip gets messed up anymore than it already is, and he wouldn't be able to go all out anyway.
  3. Since Candido's autopsy results are sealed, it's hard to debate wrestling's role since we don't actually know wrestling's role.
  4. God Bless no-fault divorce.
  5. Actually, that's pretty typical winter skin tone for most of the white people I know, self included.
  6. Strange as it sounds, pre-superroidage, HHH and Chris Jericho, aside from the height difference, looked a great deal alike.
  7. That's embellishing what Christian said, to say the least. Also nice to see that they're criticizing Hayes for things he says in WRESTLING PROMOS, as if he's shooting. And the needless Bret Hart hatchet job is in full swing.
  8. I always thought they looked exactly alike as well.

  10. Not really wrestling, but I've been to parties where UFC is on TV and no one is paying attention plenty of times.
  11. Wrestling is an okay background thing to have on TV for parties, I guess. I could see a bunch of people getting together to watch wrestling with their friends on New Years and getting wasted in the process. I don't know if TNA really applies there, though.
  12. Spike wants stars. Sting is there to be the top star.
  13. Dave Meltzer said last night he originally thought Sting coming in was a good thing and pitched some ideas to them about making new stars before being told Sting wasn't being brought in to make new stars. That's when he soured.
  14. This is currently my favorite wrestling picture.
  15. That seemed to be the sentiment of the "smart" fans at the time.
  16. There would probably be some, but I don't know if it would be the majority. Anyone who understood booking draws to be strong and not booking non-draws to be strong would understand the difference.
  17. Flair didn't have the Horsemen run-in and save his title on a regular basis. He honestly didn't. I can think of Starrcade '85, where it didn't work, and later incarnations of the Horsemen where they did it way too much and Flair wasn't a draw anymore anyway, but in big money matches, in his heyday, Flair won on his own, even if he had to cheat.
  18. Yes, considering they all get cheered by the fans regardless.
  19. No, I don't. There are no similarities in the way Flair has been booked and the way Jarrett has been booked.
  20. Try as I might, I can't think of a single Flair title defense from the year 1986 that ended with run-ins. Not against Windham. Or Morton. Or Garvin. Or Nikita.

  22. I got a major chuckle just now out of Bryan Alvarez suggesting on WOL that Viscera play Shelton Benjamin's mother.
  23. Jericho and Benoit are both 5'9". Bret is 6'0". Shawn is 6'1".
  24. Ric Flair v Chris Adams - WCCW 01/11/85 Everything worked against this match. Both were heels, leaving the fans unsure who to back. Booking was lousy, with Flair being portrayed as a bad champ and Adams as a non-worthy challenger. There's even some sloppiness at the end when they try to speed things up down the final stretch. But somehow, they manage to make this dynamic not only work, but they do a really good job with it. Total non-formula Flair, for those of you looking for more atypical Nature Boy. Nice matwork, and Flair decides to go with the tide instead of fighting it, which was a smart choice. Adams is the top heel in the promotion at this point, so Flair plays the babyface and lets Adams be the one to use the ropes for leverage and rely on outside interference. This isn't a great match, because of everything working against it, but it's a terrific example of workers determined not to let a match fall to pieces and doing a strong job of salvaging it. ***1/4
  25. Probably Eddy Guerrero, at 5'6".
