Davey Boy Smith For all the same reasons.

And yes, whether it was intentional or not, I do feel like the layout of the Austin/Jericho matches, even though Austin put him over twice, made Jericho look really bad. I don't know if sabotage is the right word, but it's not terribly off, since he refused to do a clean job to him at Vengeance in 2001. Austin and Jericho could have had great matches had Austin been willing to give him offense.

I think you made the point better than I did, honestly. Well put.

Would you settle for a reminder that Kevin Nash once had Randy Savage sneak attack him and put makeup on him on national television?

HHH As much as I hate to say it, HHH's run as the top heel in 2000 was better than Honky's IC title run in 1987. HTM had the benefit of being a secondary champion when Hogan was at his hottest; rather or not Hogan was on the shows where he drew so big, Hogan made the product hot. HHH had to become the top heel with Austin, Undertaker and Foley on the shelf, and he and Rock did a very good job of keeping things together, considering the huge void they had to fill. It's the one thing I'll always give HHH credit for.

Shawn Michaels If this were overall careers, I'd take DiBiase in a heartbeat.

Undertaker

Rey Misterio Jr Edge is nowhere in Rey's league as a performer, nowhere near as over, nowhere near the draw and Edge has had more failed pushes than almost anyone in the company. Rey carried their tag team, Rey has had better singles matches and Rey currently means more to WWE than Edge.

Owen Hart Owen's 1994 run *blows away* Flair's 1992 run, and quite substantially at that. Compare any Bret/Owen match to any Flair match in 1992. Also factor in that Owen had the longer run, both as the Blue Blazer having good matches in 1989 and as a singles wrestler and tag wrestler, against teams like Furnas and Lafon, Michaels and Austin, and in singles against guys like Austin, Davey Boy and Michaels. Flair has the Savage match and the Rumble. Owen has far more.

Chris Jericho It's a popular belief that Angle is a better worker than Jericho. It's also a myth. It's a popular belief that Angle is a bigger star than Jericho. It's also a myth. Angle has been given far more push, but Jericho has done a far better job making the most of what he's been given. Jericho has had better matches with Rock, HHH and Benoit. Jericho got matches out of Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash, Viscera, Mark Henry, Hulk Hogan and Kane for crying out loud! Jericho typically has more fan support. Jericho has had better results with the same opponents, with Steve Austin being the only exception.

Randy Savage For all the reasons goodhelmet said.

Chris Benoit This is the match that really will tell us why everyone here watches wrestling, and what they truly see as important. Benoit can't touch Hogan as a draw. Hogan can't touch Benoit as a worker. So, which is more important to you? I'm going to go with the guy who made wrestling more enjoyable to watch, not the guy who brought in tons of casual fans, but also did his share of damage. Benoit has done ZERO damage to the company. Benoit never refused to drop a match, or tried to undermine another world champion. Hogan did. Benoit never walked out on the company. Hogan did three times! Benoit hasn't overstayed his welcome. Hogan has!

Eddy Guerrero Voting for Rock is admittedly probably the right thing to do, but I feel the need to plead Eddy's case here. As for Rock, he is one of the biggest draws the company ever had, became a very good worker as his career progressed and had a great attitude in terms of putting over those around him. Eddy Guerrero overcame a lot of bad decisions in his life to reach the level he reached, though, and the fact that he was able to pick himself up out of the doldrums and come back, finally figuring out a way to adjust his style to the WWE style and work against all opponents, huge and small, means that I don't think people should completely count Eddy out here. Had Eddy's 2003 happened in 1997, would he have hit the same level Rock did? Would Rock have been the draw he was without Austin paving the way? I'm inclined to say yes, but it's something to consider, because fans tuned in for "Stone Cold", and Rock made them stay around a while longer. He deserves massive credit for that, just like Eddy deserves massive credit for going from the fringes of both wrestling and life to the world title in under two years. He hasn't relapsed. He drew money. He represented the company well, and has helped them tap in to a new audience. He gets my vote not because he's had a better career than Rock, but because he's overcome so many obstacles thrown his way.
-
Bret Hart It's possible that Foley drew more money at his peak, but Bret would have been just as effective as a foil to Austin and Rock. In fact, I give Bret credit for laying the groundwork for the Attitude era with his run against Austin in 1996-1997, even if he wasn't around to reap the benefits. Foley became a draw toward the end of his career, and just when he was hitting his stride as a draw, his body gave out on him and he had to retire. There's still so much unfulfilled potential there with Mick. Bret met his full potential. As a worker, there's no comparison, and I don't think Foley would even argue himself over Bret Hart here.

Yes, we've already run this match once, but goodhelmet asked that we re-run it so he can state his case and possibly cause some people to rethink their initial votes. The stage is yours, Will.

Fair enough. I'll run it again.

Yes, actually. I'll be talking about the other one I've liked later today.
