  1. I think this is the reason to be happy about Cena winning. There's no one in that match that would make for a better Ron Garvin.
  2. Did anyone else notice Bray Wyatt being put in a babyface position in that Orton sequence? The turn I suspect is coming fairly soon.
  3. Regardless of Cena winning, the match was clearly laid out to let Roman Reigns shine more than anyone. Even though Cena won, it now feels like Reigns is being positioned at or possibly above his level.
  4. Cena is a placeholder for Brock and is the only guy in a position to do that without losing something in the process. I have no problem with him winning. I also see no problem with Cena not doing much in the match. If he got injured right now, they'd be fucked.
  5. People who are considering not renewing?

Agreed that Cena is the best guy to win just because it's the most compelling match against Brock and he'll be the least hurt by dropping the title so quickly.

  9. Dave mentioned that the stuff getting viewed the most is by far the recent PPVs and the current week's edition of stuff like Legends House. I'm not surprised by that since they aren't even trying to promote anything else. I wouldn't be surprised if a significant chunk of subscribers still don't know about the Clashes being added simply because WWE has never even tried to promote it. It seems every week on all WWE shows, they should hype anything that was recently added.
  10. The Turner Home Entertainment releases that would start with a block of ads for all the shows was so great. I remember watching that over and over, usually more than the actual show that was on the tape.
  11. The 80s/90s TBS voiceover guy was outstanding.

  13. To relate this back to wrestling, I really do think the commercials help put things in context. Wrestling is a reflection of the culture and commercials put in context where the pop culture was at the same time.
  14. Alpine White's the very best ... N-E-S-T-L-E-S.

  16. My theory is that Vince thinking Hogan and Savage had nothing left prematurely is probably what he sees as one of his biggest flubs, since those guys did big business in WCW and definitely still had something in the tank. I think this is why Vince has a tendency now to run with a pat hand way too long. According to legend, Jerry Jarrett told Vince that Hogan and Savage may get hot in WCW since they were in a new environment and were so featured on TV but Vince refused to believe it, saying both of them were way too old.
  17. I'm 34 but I remember that quite well. That and "You, all right! I learned it by watching you!"

  21. I don't know for sure that this will happen, but odds are pretty good we'll do a 1989 Yearbook, so it's worth sharing recommendations if you have them. Stampede, Continental and Joshi would be especially appreciated.
  22. Funny stuff. I'd also be interested in seeing a Vince McMahon map of the United States. Some comedian has to have some great ideas for Oklahoma and Atlanta, among other places.

It's definitely something they used to care about. That seemed to change in 2000-2001 when Stephanie started wearing high heels and towering over babyfaces every week.
  24. Heenan didn't have to say anything. The Bischoff school of thought on keeping announcers in the dark is what should be criticized more than Heenan. He was operating blind so it's hard to assign too much blame to him. One of the bookers should have realized the dilemma of what Bobby Heenan should say and gave him some guidance on how they wanted him to call that moment. My suggestion would have been that he either says nothing at all when Hogan comes out and lets Tony and Dusty do the talking, or that he says, "I never thought I would say this in my life, but I am actually glad to see Hulk Hogan!"
