    Nice little clip to lead into the title match.

    Eric Bischoff is the only announcer dressed up. This had to have been a rib. Paul E. Dangerously has some earth shattering news. He talks about being removed from the color commentator spot on TBS, which is weird, because he's been on the show every week. That aside, Paul E. is out to bankrupt WCW by destroying their heroes. He's going to start with Sting. I think this is Madusa's debut, but they act like everyone already knew who she was. Phantom unmasks as RICK RUDE and things are going to start getting interesting in WCW very quickly. Great pickup for WCW, and they really used him well. Bischoff's bewildered facial expression during all of this is great. Yay Dangerous Alliance!

    I've always liked this match, especially the last five minutes. Two young guys working hard to steal the show, both bleeding and doing some great nearfalls. I love Dustin counting along with the referee. Austin is capable at this point, but misses out on so many chances to take the match over the top. I'd like to see him more aggressive at this point, but with time, he found himself.

    Is this the most WCW match of all time? Good action, silly gimmicks and setting, some good ideas, some bad ideas (Refer-Eye?). Abdullah getting electrocuted is a near-legendary finish, and if nothing else, this was an interesting way to open a pay-per-view. Pretty much everyone involved worked hard, and they did try hard to do something unique. I don't think this is Wrestlecrap worthy. It's just weird.

    Bischoff is on shit duty, greeting people as they arrive in Chattanooga. Barry Windham gets attacked by the Enforcers as they come in. This attack always looked really good to me.

    It was several minutes before I could even find Gilbert. He goes overboard to sell for Sullivan in this one, and this is a match that was almost definitely better live, as they brawl all over the building. I wish Sullivan had taken some of the lumps, but it was entirely one-sided for way too long. And it's hard to watch from home.

    In a first, Larry Zbyszko manages to tie Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin to Darwinism. I love intellectual heels. Arn, meanwhile, is sick of their whiskey breath and matted hair. If the 'Birds wanna be rock stars, they can do it on their own time, damnit! All of this leads to a brawl. Not sure why they are pushing this match so hard the night before Havoc when they weren't facing each other, but WCW loved to not hype their pay-per-views.

    Clip of Jarrett/Fuller/Marlin vs Embry/Pritchard/Someone. Pritchard accidentally hits Embry with the chain, and Jarrett secures the pin, just as promised. There is dissension among the heels after the match, and Embry and Pritchard end up fighting it out. They don't really turn either guy at this point, as it's played more as two heels having beef with each other. Good stuff. I love how heartbroken Billy Joe Travis seems by all of this. We get interviews from both to close the segment out. Embry blames his loss on Pritchard. I love his logic -- It wasn't an accident. When you're from Texas, you don't make mistakes. Pritchard responds in the studio, and addresses the Roddy Piper clone allegations. As good as Embry's promo is, Pritchard's is even better. Probably the best I've seen from him.

    Clip of Lawler throwing a fireball at Billy Joe Travis at Mid South Coliseum. Travis enters the studio and has a pretty nasty burn on his face. Lawler has scarred him for life, and he'll never forget it. Lawler eventually interrupts to gloat and offers to take him on, but Travis bails. I don't like that Travis isn't really getting any heat on Lawler in this feud.

    This time, Slaughter exploits Paul Revere for his babyface turn.

    I loved how grounded this was. It really gave the match a sense of importance and credibility. The headlock spots were especially well done, and played into Kawada's overall strategy of wearing Jumbo down with holds. But as good as Kawada is here, Jumbo's performance is as good as I've ever seen from any wrestler in any match. Everything Kawada is doing is focused on Jumbo's neck, and Jumbo is selling it brilliantly. I love the spot where Kawada goes for a powerbomb, Jumbo manuevers himself out of it, and it looks like Kawada is about to improvise with a piledriver, and Jumbo goes crazy to avoid that. He puts Kawada over about as convincingly as he can without dropping the fall. This wasn't quite as "epic" as I thought it might be in terms of big kickouts, but that's not a knock. It's just great in a different way than I expected, and I think I prefer what I got to what I thought I was going to get. The heat wasn't quite as over the top as it was in the Kobashi match earlier in the year, but the match felt more complete, and not just because of editing.

    Awesome match that I wish we could have seen in full. What we got had Fuchi doing his typical cavalier heel act to great results while Kroffat sold the fuck out of his knee. I think the finish was built to create rematches that I'd love to see if they ever happened, but the few minutes we got were excellent.

    Pretty short, but high energy and full of crowd pleasing spots. I think the other Finlay matches were better, but it was fun to see Wright up and around a lot, as in previous matches I've seen him in, he's been more of a flashy mat wrestler.

    Cactus vs Kazamier with Abdullah running in with a huge stick. Sting makes the save and cleans house.

    Ron Simmons lays it all on the line in this outstanding promo. Great emotion and good hype of specific points, and Ron seems like the real deal. I'm looking forward to revisiting that match. We get an announcement that Mr. Hughes is banned from ringside, and that Dusty Rhodes will be in Simmons' corner for one night only. I like this hype. I just think Simmons needed a longer chase to the top.

    He's print media, but Wade Keller is the best interviewer, if only because Torch Talks read more like a conversation and actually include follow-up questions.

    They were an upper midcard act in the WWF at best, so no, they weren't draws. Their drawing was in the NWA and All Japan, with possible brief success elsewhere at times.

    True or not, I don't know, but it feels like an inappropriate personal attack. I realize there's a greater point in there about his work, but I think there's a more tasteful way to say it.

    Sting does a weird interview hyping the Chamber of Horrors while showing off his new denim jacket.

    I thought I'd like Lawler/Travis as a feud, but I'm still not really digging it, and the main reason is that I'm not crazy about the tone in Lawler's promos. It's better than last week, but I'm still not feeling it.

    Eddie Marlin knows he's past his prime, but he wants to get his hands on Eric Embry. Jarrett and Fuller have a few words as well, with Jarrett promising to pin Embry or he will quit. Fuller is awesome as usual.

    This is Sid Justice vs El Diablo. Just after the bell rings, the Undertaker and Paul Bearer come out and offer El Diablo a briefcase full of something to take off. So we get Sid vs Undertaker and this crowd is really into the staredown between warring Dan Spivey tag team partners. Just as Sid is distracted, El Diablo hits the ring and tosses off his mask before attacking Sid. It was Jake Roberts! He chokes Sid out and Bearer brings out a casket. Jake gets out a snake and they are about to sick him on Sid when Duggan makes the save, untying Sid. Great heat for all of this, and a terrific angle.
