Got my issue fixed... Loved Kawada vs. Kojima from 2001..... I have been watching a good bit of Puro over the last month or so (my first full dive in) and one thing is clear to me... Kawada is the FUCKIN man....period, Love him....It started with the first puro match I saw (Kawada vs. Taue, 1/91) and the clothesline to the back of Taue's head that was BRUTAL...and the love continued from there.. Bad motherfucker...

Only happening on the MAC's...PC"s seem fine! Any ideas?

Great to hear another year in review...I love these and cant wait for a whole set of the 90's (or some 80's and some 90's. etc...) as, for me, its really giving me some back info on the NJPW / AJPW stuff I am watching as well as giving some info on the Lucha stuff I am about to start getting into.. Keep up the great work...I have one complaint....that these arent 4-5 hours each!

What show is this on? I thought Barry Windham vs. Bobby Fulton was from NWA TV 12/3/88. It's on one of Will's Barry comps. It was 88 . I had a brain freeze. Thanks...hunting this one down in my stuff today! -

Glad to see you are starting to enjoy it... Steiner as main heel and champ is so fuckin cool and I am glad you are loving it like I did when I saw it in 2000.. Sad enough, but I was still getting the PPV's for this stuff in 2000 - 2001... I couldnt remember when, but it was a few weeks after Fall Brawl that things got better, I had thought it was from Fall Brawl on... Do you like the Goldberg being forced to re-do his streak? I really loved that personally...

Great Matches witha Tag Wrester in a Singles Match

Haku was a singles wrestler in some high profile stuff before he joined the Islanders...so I wouldnt toss him in here... -
Thought about this last night while falling asleep.. What are some of the best matches where a Tag wrestler before, who primarily works tags, is in a singles match? Not guys that joined tag teams once they were already really established as singles workers. Some of my best that I can think of off the top of my head: Bret vs. Steamboat in '86 - Maple Leaf Gardens was great Shawn vs. Perfect in '91 - WM VII Stars and Stripes Forever Shawn vs. Flair in '91 - On Invasion 92 and really happens days before they break up What else?

I NEVER realized that Hogan's chest hair was an atomic bomb until you mentioned it today!

Johnny, once again we share some commonalities...I also dropped for the first time, not at a Floyd Concert but listening to Floyd... As for the band Parv, simply put, they are to me the GOAT...period.... Is the Wall the best? No, its not...but its definately crap... I go: 1. Wish You Were Here 2. Animals 3. Dark Side 4. Wall That is my top 4.... But the Wall also contains two MAJOR Floyd things: 1. The best solo of all time for them, Comfortably Numb 2. The song by which most people will say they know (Brick In The Wall II) I would say that makes for a really good work of art... As for wrestling...great show as always....you guys bring the goodness.......

At least once at MSG, IIRC. Warrior spent most of the Spring 1990 beating Perfect over and over and over again..

I think the dream feud was doomed when Ax couldnt go fulltime anymore, so they had the 6-Man thing...but still, the LOD - Demos (all 3) could have been good still, with Ax working here and there in BIG shows.. Harts, yeah, I got nothing...I dont get why Rhythm and Blues at all...Power and Glory were taillor made for that feud and were hot, just destroying the Rockers...makes no sense... Then, after Savage was ready (when he is come October as they fight all over) there is your world title feud Hogan - Earthquake and then Hogan - Slaugther in there as well and things look better...
-
Johnny, Nice to hear someone else speak a little truth about the whole Carter / Reagan / Iran debacle...
-
If that is true...WOW...but I cant believe it based on how Hogan was STILL reluctant to turn heel in '96 before the NWO thing got hot, so I cant see him doing that in 1990 - 1991.... As for Warrior - Quake, I dont even see any house matches between them so they must have decided to scratch that quickly... One other very strange thing...the Tag Titles.....VERY prominent in WWF until Harts win them at Summerslam...they then feud ALL FALL and some of winter with...Honky and Valentine...REALLY? They eventually started a feud with Power and Glory, but it went no where once the Nasties arrived... P&G should have had that spot directly after Summerslam...its almost like they said "Fuck it" to teh Tag belts for the rest of 90 and when teh Rockers thing failed, they really just dropped it.

I think its a great card...almost all matches have storylines going into them.. As for Bryan, screwing him here will be fine as long as he looks OK doing it....this storyline needs to continue forward, with now the "Viper" Orton being back and the feud going from there...force Bryan to jump through hoops to get back what he wants down the line... Dont kill it now.... I have seen a lot of people want the WWE to draw out storylines and go different ways with them, but as soon as things go a few weeks, people start saying they're killing it and its not gonna work...I wonder if either fans today just arent trained to deal with long term storylines (due to the everything now culture we live in) and when even teh same thing happens two weeks in a row (like Bryan getting attacked a month or so ago), fans will immediatley start with "they are doing the same thing over and over..its ruined). I want a long feud that forces Bryan to fight his way back after being fucked over by the powers when it looks like he is about to win...that makes things compelling and makes me want to see him get his revenge, but having hoops to jump through to get there, making me hate the person blocking him even more... Same thing with Punk...I hope he doesnt destroy Ryback and attack Heyman...keep things going a little longer... For Del Rio / RVD, I think RVD winning the title here is the right thing to do...time to move on and give both guys something else to do and give RVD a shot with teh title...

Halle 'fuckin' lulah Need me some new Titans.....looking forward to going to work tomorrow now!!! Fin..

I got nothing on the 3rd one, but for the other two, speculation here: 1. From looking at the results from the second half of 91, Warrior was wrestling Savage on almost every show he was on, with neither getting a decisive win (count outs / DQ) the whole time...you have to figure they were heading to Savage - Warrior for the title at the Rumble 2. For Warrior / Hogan II, the only reason I would say this was at least planned for a while was the fact that they were going to have Mania VII originally at the LA Colliseum and seat 100,000 for it...no way Slaughter / Hogan does that...Hogan / Warrior II? Maybe...From there, I think that advance ticket sales for Mania werent great, so they moved indoors (or it was "security" as they say, but I have never hear reports of tons and tons of people getting their money back due to the move!)...from there, I dont think it mattered which they did as it would fill that much smaller place up. So the rest happened, Warrior loses to Slaughter (thanks to Savage) and Hogan comes in to protect America against Slaughter....
-
Makes sense with that information there...thanks.. Although I agree about the Mania VII classic, having a few matches prior could have done good things as well for this feud as a whole..and I still am curious that if the original idea was the Rumble Main Event or not before the war as no way Slaughter sniffs that WWF Title feud without the Iraq conflict happening... So if Savage was thinking of retiring, what the hell would they have done from Rumble to Mania? Savage - Warrior at Rumble and then Hogan - Warrior II at Mania? And if the Slaughter choice was made in Nov - Dec, still dont get why Savage and Warrior wouldnt have a high profile title match... Hogan politics possibly in here as well?
-
Hoping someone knows the answer to this... Following Summerslam 1990, Savage started a TV feud with Warrior wanting a title shot as well as both men taunting back and forth... However, Savage doesnt wrestle hardly at all until October, when he finally starts the house show matches with Warrior..but they never wrestle at one of the BIG Televised venues... 1. Was Savage hurt from Summerslam to October and if so, what was wrong? 2. Why did the two of them have NO matches in the big televised venues (Boston / MSG / etc...) if they were building a feud between them? 3. Was the original plan for the '91 Rumble Savage vs. Warrior for the title before the Dessert Storm stuff with Slaughter jumped in, followed by the Warror / Savage feud that did start to have some major venue matches.. That whole scenario has bugged me for sometime...
