  2. Rock vs Eddy from Raw on DVD? Awesome.
  3. They definitely used Winners Dos as a stand-in Abismo Negro. I guess that Pentagon Black as Sasuke the Great when STG needed to team w/ Masao Orihara (who normally played the gimmick) might count.
  4. I'm not clear on the full details of the Tommy H./Jimmy Hart deal. I've read that Hart was already suspended to some degree/barred from ringside after pouring flour on Lance Russell's head. Was Tommy H. on TV before the Coliseum card?
  5. There's footage of DiBiase as champ from the broadcasts of both shows (Boston & Philly) that the crew he was headlining worked as a double shot the day after The Main Event. The Boston match is on DailyMotion. WWF @ Boston, MA - Boston Garden - February 6, 1988 (matinee) (15,534; sell out) Televised on NESN - included Craig DeGeorge & Lord Alfred Hayes on commentary: Lanny Poffo pinned Terry Gibbs at 9:48 with a moonsault Jacques & Raymond Rougeau defeated Steve Lombardi & Barry Horowitz when Raymond pinned Horowitz at 11:20 after a double team move from the top Prime Time Wrestling - 2/22/88: Sam Houston pinned Iron Mike Sharpe with a bulldog at 11:37; after the bout, Danny Davis attacked Houston until several referees were able to intervene Rockin Robin vs. WWF Women's Champion Sensational Sherri Hulk Hogan & Bam Bam Bigelow (w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink) defeated Ted Dibiase (w/ Virgil) & Andre the Giant at 7:59 when Hogan pinned Dibiase with the leg drop after Andre's arm became entangled in the ring ropes; prior to the bout, Dibiase came to the ring wearing the WWF World Title belt and was introduced as the new champion as a result of what occured the previous night in Indianapolis Ricky Steamboat fought Dino Bravo (w/ Frenchy Martin) to a double count-out at 12:23; after the bout, Bravo challenged Steamboat to 5 more minutes; after Steamboat accepted, he was double teamed by both Bravo & Martin until Bravo accidentally hit his manager; Steamboat then cleared the ring of both men Prime Time Wrestling - 2/22/88: Danny Davis pinned Brady Boone with a sit-down splash off the top at 7:59 The One Man Gang (w/ Slick) pinned George Steele at 4:24 with a kneelift to the back after Steele became distracted by Slick on the ring apron; after the bout, Steele cleared OMG from the ring with Slick's cane before attacking Slick as well; Steele then chased the referee and Frenchy Martin, who was providing guest commentary, around the ring The Islanders defeated Davey Boy Smith & the Dynamite Kid via disqualification at 12:36 when Dynamite shoved the referee; after the bout, Dynamite cleared both Islanders from the ring with the dog leash they brought ringside; during the match, Frenchy Martin left the commentary table after an argument with DeGeorge WWF @ Philadelphia, PA - Spectrum - February 6, 1988 (13,112) Televised on the PRISM Network - featured Dick Graham & Lord Alfred Hayes on commentary; included footage from the previous night's The Main Event in which Andre the Giant won the world title and then sold it to Ted Dibiase; featured the announcement that Dibiase would defend his newly won title against Hulk Hogan at the following month's card, to be held March 12: Lanny Poffo pinned Terry Gibbs at 8:59 with a moonsault The One Man Gang (w/ Slick) pinned George Steele at 4:32 with a splash to the back, even though Steele's shoulder was clearly up; after the bout, Steele cleared OMG from the ring with Slick's cane before attacking Slick with it Ricky Steamboat fought Dino Bravo (w/ Frenchy Martin) to a time-limit draw at 13:31; after the bout, Bravo challenged Steamboat to 5 more minutes; when Steamboat accepted, he was double teamed by Bravo and Martin before eventually clearing both men from the ring Danny Davis pinned Sam Houston at 9:41 with a reverse roll up, grabbing the top rope and the tights for leverage Hulk Hogan & Bam Bam Bigelow (w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink) defeated Andre the Giant & Ted Dibiase (w/ Virgil) at 9:56 when Hogan pinned Dibiase with the legdrop after Andre became tied in the ring ropes; prior to the bout, Dibiase came to the ring in possession of the world title belt and was announced as the champion Jacques & Raymond Rougeau defeated Steve Lombardi & Barry Horowitz at 9:08 when Raymond pinned Lombardi following a double team move from the top WWF Women's Champion Sensational Sherri pinned Rockin Robin at 7:35 with a roll up Prime Time Wrestling - 3/7/88: Iron Mike Sharpe pinned Brady Boone with a clothesline at 9:05, using the loaded forearm support The Islanders defeated Davey Boy Smith & the Dynamite Kid via disqualification at 13:03 when Dynamite shoved referee Joey Marella; after the bout, Dynamite attacked the opposition with the dog leash the Islanders had brought ringside
  6. This is when I went from hating YouTube commenters to REALLY hating them.
  7. Nah, the ex-Kaiju. Just pointing out how ridiculous it reads when you itemize it (and the recent cycle of Vince/Linda stuff in the WON was due to the feaar that stock price could possibly be affected).
  8. The WWF lies by omission gets people to go see the first Wrestlemania: I got some '85 WONs and some of the stuff that they pulled back then is amazingly carny. In markets where there was only CCTV location, the show was promoted using vague terms as if it was occurring live in that location, with no mention of CCTV. In addition to this, at least one location had a single 44 inch screen in the middle of a 10,000 seat arena.
  9. Today, I learned on another board that speculating about what the best source on the matter is coyly saying about something that internally was feared to negatively affect the stock price is a bad thing, because it means I want to have sex with Vince McMahon.
  10. Hey, someone remembers the original point of the thread!
  11. There can't be a clear distinction because he killed his son with a real version of his fake pro wrestling finishing hold.
  12. I get complaining if it was a history piece, but is was a "from the heart" essay from his friend who he has his retirement match with. It's really not a big deal at all.
  13. There wasn't a lot, but it was there. I always criticized the shows as ridiculous and creepy, and I think may have gotten into an argument over it with someone, maybe Rob Naylor.
  14. Yeah, the Benoit story in the 4/2 WON is weird, heavy, and creepy to read. Really bizarre to get an insight into their relationship in Nancy's own words, as well as the odd side effect of getting a direct quote from CM Punk apologizing for a clusterfuck tag on ECW by going through all of his texts.
  15. I think the inherent "What the fuck?"edness is what strikes me. I don't really expect anything of wrestling fans as a group, and I'm sure I spend money on related products that eventually end up funding evil endeavors, but there is still a "What? Really? What?' that goes with that crowd reaction even if I don't expect better from them.
  16. I don't disagree, but Benoit is best known as the wrestler who killed his family before offing himself. Even if a ton of other people in the wrestling business are awful people on the level of a family annihilator, it's not as widely known and cheering the mention of Benoit's name is still pretty fucked up.
  17. Don't feed the trolls, John.
  18. I get the idea of wanting to "take back" the crossface (no way do they have any other intention) so I don't necessarily have a problem with it even if it still feels weird as someone had to use it eventually.
  19. Anyone who makes a sweeping generalization about all wrestling fans is an idiot, anyway. Making a generalization about many/most...not as much, at least not automatically. And in all these arguments, it amazes me how hard it is in various places for people to agree on the fact that cheering a murderer is bad.
  20. I'm a wrestling fan and so is everyone else at this board. My point is that I don't care about people making negative generalizations about wrestling fans anymore, because it sure looks like they're right about the majority. It's well known that he violently killed his wife and son before killing himself. While the majority doesn't know that the Crippler Crossface was used to kill Daniel, or that Chris was beating Nancy for years (though more would know this as it got decent mainstream coverage), or other more obscure stuff, they know the key details, and that's all that matters. If they question it without doing research, then they're idiots. If they question it after doing research, then they're idiots. You are right that it would be interesting to hear the views of that group of fans and the reasoning behind it, because I can't wrap my head around it.
  21. WWE caught up w/ Pat Rose for some reason. Awesome.
  22. I'd say that's a different variety of stupidity.
  23. Yes, but it's better to not have it thrown in our faces like that.
