  1. Michelle Wilson did say something about "another connected device that we're not allowed to announce" that sounded like AppleTV to me. Glad to hear this. When it comes to streaming devices that older adults use, AppleTV is high on that list. Chromecasts in the press kits, too. Wondering how closely they'll work with Google and Roku. It's in WWE's interest to be able to push streaming devices that cost the same as or less than the current PPV rates to people that don't already have game consoles or other connected devices hooked up to their TVs.
  2. Looks like it will indeed be on AppleTV and they were handcuffed by Apple's weird policies in announcing it, as the reporters there got WWE-branded AppleTVs: http://bytenow.net/2014/01/08/wwe-network-apple-tv/
  3. Older programming is pretty much just going to be edited for music rights. Nothing for content, whether it's blood, Benoit, Ventura, etc.
  4. 1500 hours of on demand content at launch. Going by some pretty proflific YouTube uploaders who have looked at their copyright flags, WWE appears to have the vast majority of the last 30 years of domestic TV and home video fingerprinted, as it gets flagged instantaneously with show-specific names for the flags. I suspect they'll add as much as they can as quickly as they can since it's not like people will get through the launch lineup quickly.
  5. *IF* there's no streaming problems. With MLBAM behind it, streaming problems are really unlikely.
  6. From the AP story of all places: Also in that article are some money quotes from Michelle Wilson: They are trolling the cable/satellite companies hard. The best part is that they can justify it being more than spin because it IS a much better service than it would be via traditional distribution.
  7. That doesn't sound like the greatest idea, but I can understand why they're doing it. Curious if it's a $60 payment of contractual commitment to 6 payments of $10 each. I'll try to find out.
  8. Q4 2014 or Q1 2015 most likely.
  9. Sign ups launch that morning at 9 AM ET.
  10. I think I covered the sheet writing of the WWF in the 80s in several of the posts. Despite that, Dave correctly covered the *business* side of both, which included the booking side. When JCP/WCW went to shit, he pointed it out. When their booking was shitty, he pointed it out. Flip on when the WWF did something good: he pointed it out. Not just opinion-wise: In terms of how much space it got.
  11. What's the best way for WWE to present this to the tech media today to make sure they cover it? Push the death of PPV, the size of the online library, and the social components? I can't think of anything else since there's no groundbreaking technology involved.
  12. Hmm? It's more or less a Patrick Bateman gimmick.
  13. So am I crazy or is TNA doing a fairly good job of introducing the fairly unknown guys they've given new gimmicks to recently? They've done a solid job with Spud and Ethan Carter III, but so far I love Samuel Shaw's preppy sociopath/rapist/serial killer gimmick. Shaw's good at being creepy and they've done a great job at the little details from his clothes to his entrance music sounding like they're trying to rip off "Goodbye Horses" (the song Buffalo Bill dances to in Silence of the Lambs). I can't really tolerate most of TNA but it seems like they're doing a good job transitioning into their role as a cheaply made TV-only product.
  14. As someone who's had this conversation with Snowden before, I *think* he's talking about now the newsletter writers/readers were a bit too in the bag for JCP/WCW back in the day, which manifested in the WWF not being covered properly in the WON and other newsletters.
  15. Tony Nese's brother in law. Unsure if serious.
  16. I feel really bad for not voting but I just didnt have it in me to binge watch the Japanese and Mexican stuff I missed and didn't feel right voting here if I didn't. Having said that who the hell voted for Liger vs Richards vs Nese?
  17. Network isn't mentioned in the document on that link. Business Wire press release also doesn't mention it: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/tune-advisor...-190000600.html Did they change something? Originally, they added something to the Corporate Calendar Then they sent out an email (from IR Alerts) which mentioned the WWE Network Announcement, but you're right that the actual press release does not have the Network mentioned. Methinks it's a right hand-left hand mixup. Title of the file still says "Network" in it.
  18. Bix

    Current WWE

I don't think he's "officially" straight edge, but his vegetarian/vegan lifestyle is pretty similar in terms of not putting bad things in your body. I'm almost positive Bryan isn't vegan anymore. Yup, soy intolerance made it impossible to stay vegan on the road.
  19. And then Jerome would chime in about SECAM.
  20. The Facebook RSVP link they tweeted.
  21. It's at 9:00 PM ET, not 9:30.
  22. My doctor on wearing scrubs one day when he usually wore business casual at best: "Have you ever worn scrubs? It's like going to work in pajamas!"
  23. It's worth pointing out that of the many Gracie's NJPW could have tried to bring in, one of the two they picked is best known to MMA fans for doing a Flair Flop when he was knocked out a few months ago.
