    Dr. Tom Prichard

I don't see him making my 100. Though I really like him. He had great brawls with DWB in Continental. He supposedly had them in Memphis too, but lack of Memphis arena shows hurts. Had good matches as part of the Heavenly Bodies. He had a great feud with Jeff Jarrett in the Jarrett-Texas promotion. I liked his matches with Brian Christopher. He looked to have great matches with Embry in Memphis, but again the majority of them are in highlited form. I think available footage in his prime might be a problem.

    Ric Flair

I think the Flair didn't adapt like Funk or Tenyru etc. Isn't really a fair argument. Funk or Tenyru weren't on weekly television so they weren't 't getting exposed like Flair in the 00's. Funk and Tenyru didn't have agents and producers telling them this is what we want in a match. I think Flair in the 00's is in a spot where he really couldn't change up a lot or adapt a different style because of the situation he was in.

    Dynamite Kid

I always considered Dynamite like Kurt Angle. A guy with intensity and cool moves who needed someone to reign him in. I always thought Dynamite's storytelling was lacking in the ring but got a pass because of all the cool shit he could do. I think he'll be hard pressed to get a vote from me.
  4. He was a fiat pick but Dynamite Kid was also either the biggest or second biggest draw in the history of Stampede Wrestling according to someone Bix mentioned to me who I can't remember at the moment. I can't imagine that was true. I'd assume that the guys who Stu flew around in chartered planes and who helped him build the big mansion were bigger draws than the guy on top as they declined and eventually sold out to Vince. I believe the story is that Dynamite drew the most dollars overall.. As in he consistently drew Stu money for years. Not a guy who came in for 3 months here, 3 months there.
  5. This is an epic feud. What's even more amazing is the longevity of. It. Hell Valentine starts with Albano as manager, by the time the feud is over he has Jimmy Hart as manager.

    Dick Murdoch

Can you give me a few examples of this so I can look and see if I agree? Not saying it didn't happen just want some examples to see if the statement has merit.

    Sting

In the GAB 85. At Starcade 86 and beyond Flair is clearly the heel. Their are more heel Flair vs. Face Nikita than heel Nikita vs. face Flair for what it's worth that made tape .

    Sting

Parv you really think Sting is a worse opponent for Flair than Nikita?

    Mike Rotunda

No way in hell is he making my ballot. About as pedestrian as a wrestler as they come.
  10. On the WWE network. On the Old School matches he was in a few. He wasn't having the best match on the show. He was having the most interesting though . Be it a spot, or a payoff to something . Just really smart stuff .

    Arn Anderson

He was the master of the studio match . He had matches in the 3 star range with Denny Brown , Mike Jackson, and maybe Sam Houston . It says something about being able to that with underneath talent.
  12. Jake Roberts
  13. I'll say the majority of Steamboat/Muraco matches didn't do anything for me. I watched 16 of their singles matches and only 4 of them I'd rate in the 3 to 3 1/2*.

    Randy Savage

He had great matches with Tito Santana, Bret Hart, Ronnie Garvin, Jake Roberts and others that other people have mentioned.

    Leo Burke

He really is a super smart worker. You can see a huge influence in Bret Hart's style through Burke.

    Tito Santana

I know he made my Smarkchoice list. I've been a fan. Of course their are the Valentine matches that are great. His feud with Savage was off the charts as well. His Strike Force tag team produced strong matches with the Islanders. He had Ron Bass and Barry Windham's best match in the WWF. He also rates as one of Hennig's best matches in the WWF. I enjoyed some of his matches with Flair , and Martel . The Lawler handheld from MSG was a lot of fun. Had good matches with Bob Orton. He's a guy who they could put anywhere on the card. He truly was one of the workhorses of the WWF in the 80's.

    Arn Anderson

Arn was a guy who could eat up 10-15 minutes on a card and deliver. He could work anywhere on the card from main event to opening match. A great promo, and specialized in tag matches. He always had sound psychology in the ring. He should make my list.
  18. He's already on the nominees list.
  19. Seems like a cool idea.
  20. Butch Reed needs a thread.

  22. Tracy Smothers. These come from the SMW folder not all the reviews are mine. Tennessee Chain Match for SMW Heavyweight Title: "Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony © vs. "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" Tracy Smothers (4/2/93) They did a great job here of building up the importance of this match saying this was the first Tennessee Chain match in 15 years. Smothers dominated early taking the battle to DWB in and outside the ring using the chain to choke DWB where he starts touching the turnbuckles and goes to three sides but stops to deliver more punishment. Smothers touches the buckles again but Ron Wright would break it up so Smothers went back to pounding on DWB choking him with the chain on the floor. Tracy then gets the mic and calls DWB a stinkin yankee and drops a leg right in his balls. Smothers again touches 3 corners choking DWB with the chain but again DWB fights back to stop him. Tracy would then go up top with DWB pulling the chain to crotch him on the turnbuckle and finally DWB will go on offense. DWB uses the chain himself and brings out the juice from Tracy then follows up nothing but shots with the chain as blood flows freely from Tracy's head. DWB then touches 3 corners but Tracy fights back like DWB did earlier although not enough as DWB kept attacking him. DWB then tied up Smothers' legs with the chain as he touched 3 corners again but Smothers was able to monkey flip him over to break the count. Smothers would keep fighting back but DWB is too fresh and again touches corners but Tracy would jump on his back before missing a splash in the corner. DWB again would choke Smothers with the chain before touching corners yet again with Tracy again jumping him after he touched 3. DWB answered back by throwing Tracy over the top rope where he hung with the chain but after coming back in the ring he would pull DWB off the top rope with the chain to start his comeback. Tracy starts teeing off on DWB who is now bleeding as the crowd goes nuts and he would use the chain to choke DWB as he goes around the ring to touch the corners but he changed his mind and carried him on his back to touch the 3rd corner but DWB's weight took him down. DWB then took the chain and dragged Tracy by the neck around the ring and both men touched the corners and after DWB would flip Smothers over his head he would touch the 4th corner to get the win. The crowd is apeshit as Tracy gets the belt and this was an awesome match. Slam dunk nomination. Lsdder match vs. Candido 4/1/94 I thought this match was amazing and one of the top ten matches in SMW history.I can see people saying this is better than the Wrestlemania X ladder match. It was so awesome how the wrestlers worked a bout on a normal level and then worked the ladder into the match. Just so many great stuff and moments in the bout. Steven Regal

Regal is like a fine wine. He gets better with age. I'm curious on where he'll end up on my ballot.
  24. I've always been a fan. I've always been a fan of his storytelling in the ring. To me he's the ultimate babyface worker. He's had great matches or feuds with a variety of wrestlers. You have Flair,Savage,Rude,Roberts,Austin,Blanchard,Anderson,Pillman,Muraco,Windham, Slater,Slaughter,Kernodle and a host of others. He had great single matches. He was one of the great tag workersin the likes of Anderson,Eaton, and that ilk. Young talent that worked with him usually learned from him and evolved into better wrestlers. Some of these guys are like Luger,Austin,Pillman, and Dustin Rhodes. In regards to Muraco. It wasn't loaded with tremendous matches. Nothing I'd call 4 stars. Though their were a few 3 stars or better matches. This is from 8/18/85 in Toronto This might be the best match in the feud. Muraco is in the ring 1st while Steamboat is being announcedhe is running up the ramp to get his revenge from the hanging angle. Steamboat is all over Muraco with chops, strikes, and dropkicks. Muraco is bumping and flayling for Steamer. Muraco tries to escape and Steamboat climbs the middle of the top rope and comes down with a chop.Steamboat even leap frogs the ref to chop Muraco. Now Steamboat is focusing on Muraco's neck with clotheslines, spinning neckbreaker, chops to the neck, and he locks on a neck vice. Eventually Muraco gets the heat and beats on Steamer. Nothing to light the world on fire, but very heelish. He does some KOTM spots. Fuji gets in on the action and whacks Steamer with the cane. The hope spots were pretty great because everytime they happenned it felt the timing was right for a comeback. Finally he does make a comeback and he busts Muraco open with strikes to the forehead. Steamer is all over the cut. We're building to the finish and Steamboat is on the top rope ready for his flying body press, but Steamboat gets salt throw in his eyes for a DQ. This was a pretty good match. Another one is a really good double juice brawl which takes Steamer out of his comfort zone. This is from 12-7-85 in Philly. Another interesting match note is he had a great match with Savage on the same day in Boston. I was actually talking about the wrong match in my prior post. It was at the prior Philly show. I agree this is a low-end nomination. This was a fun brawl. It was hot to start. Muraco slingshots Steamer into the post and busts him open. He kicks, punches, gouges, and bites the cut. Just real good heat section. Everything Muraco does is aimed at Steamboat's cut. Eventually Steamboat busts Muraco open and chops, kicks, and beats on the cut. This is a double juice fight. Fuji tries to get involved and Steamboat chases him to the back. Steamboat beats the count. Then Muraco and Steamer brawl to the back. The finish made sense, but I would have liked it better if Steamboat didn't chase Fuji to the back 1st. I'd prefer that he'd KO Fuji and then work the dbl countout. The Fuji chase took away from the chaotic feel the fight had and took away from the chaos needed for the finish. This was a better body than the Sheik match that made the AJ set. Here's a review of a match against Dick Slater on 6/13/84 that really doesn't get talked up enough. I hope people check it out. I love this match. I'm a sucker for the impromptu match that the fans are red hot for. They are having an awesome fight that tells a great story. Both guys are tremendous at working each others back. It was a lot of fun to see Steamer go after the back. Slater sold his back well in the early portion. Steamboat's back drop landing on his feet had a real Eddie Guerrero feel to it. Eventually these guys are on the floor, in the crowd for a double c.o . Man they really left you wanting some more.
  25. I was pretty vague on my question.
