  1. A few posts up, under "Blu ray exclusives".
  2. Would Barry Windham count in this group? He only had a few cups of coffee with the main event in the late 80s/early 90s at best, and when he was NWA champ, he was still second fiddle to whatever Vader as WCW champ was doing.
  3. Ted DiBiase. I'll also toss in another name in the "should have stayed" category: One Man Gang. Did he get the most out of his WWF run that he could've?
  4. You trying to get me killed? Although, answering the door to a pissed off Harley would be pretty epic for a few seconds. Harley would need (and deserve) more than a few seconds to cut a promo about signing all them photos.
  5. Agreed with Will. I admit to being partial to the scaffold one because family has a nice framed large poster of the original, but Harley blends in so well in it.
  6. Canada is a town? Isn't that what Americans think? Canada is just one big town. Hey, in 1997, Bret did not want to job in his home town.

Dogg's a road agent, Gunn's a trainer and Waltman is an evaluator. They don't need to do this right away, since the main angle is the new WWE Corporate reinforcing to Daniel Bryan what his role is, but perhaps the integrity of the new regime can be put into question with Hunter creating jobs for his old buddies. I also dug that interview a lot.
  8. Are you talking this one? (Unfortunately, I can only Google Cache it, and that would be a post quoting Tom's post.) http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/sear...=on&ct=clnk
  9. To be fair to him that's one match that legit would have been "main event anywhere in the country". I don't know about "main event", but it was one of the four (if memory serves) that got a video package/preview before the match itself happened (Hulk-Andre, JYD-Race, Steamer-Savage, Piper-Adonis). Not the oddest claim I've seen.

Seriously, they've actually opened up a lot of doors for the Wyatt Family and how they can be inserted into this storyline. "They've been lying to you!" Who's they? Could it be the McMahons and Hunter, who just recently turned heel (and Bray saw it before anyone else did)? There's also the obvious visual (beards unite!). Also, the Wyatts have a cool act, but they're not so big that they'd overshadow Bryan. That's something I worry about if people like Big Show, Henry, RVD or even Dolph finally get the cahones to help Bryan (nothing against any of those guys in that sense, but Bryan's the guy they're trying to push). FWIW, they're heavily advertising on WWEShop Bray's new T-shirt, and you do see some lamb masks in the crowd already, so there's also the merch factor. My fantasy booking for all this would be Bryan booked in a seemingly 5-on-1 handicap match on the go-home RAW before NoC to finally finish him off before the big rematch. Shield, Orton and HHH dons the tights once again for this purpose. Oh, and all the roster is brought out similarly as the past two weeks and anyone on that stage who tries to join Bryan is immediately fired of course, but Bryan can try to get any four people he wants. Heels come out for the match first, Bryan next with a shit-eating grin on his face. Next thing you know..."We're here"...then eventually followed by the new, improved Kane, however that will be. Perhaps the go-home RAW is enough time for Kane to grow a decent beard. We'll see.

Given the roster, who would you introduce? Hero? Ritchie Steamboat? I don't know. Styles? When's Rey due back? It shouldn't be a small guy like Styles or Rey. Having two underdogs vs the World makes no sense in the DB storyline. The perfect candidate would actually have been Kane if not for the Wyatt storyline. How do you know the Wyatt Family wouldn't? Along with Kane? There not the type of characters who would care about paychecks. Plus this is the type of storyline that would cause Bryan to go to the dark side for help, knowing he couldn't get it from the usual roster. The Wyatts, and the way they are, are about as anti-corporate as you can get. Plus, it would set up that Wyatts vs. Shield feud that many people hope for.
  12. If they found a way to book Cena on Raw the way he is on Total Divas, he wouldn't get booed.

I think Jimmy has it correct the most regarding that DiBiase-Orton match, which happened on the 10/19/09 Raw. 10/04/09 was HIAC, which was the blowoff to the DX-Legacy feud, which to the best of my memory was never about dissension in Legacy and more the idea that they could hang with DX, especially with beating them the PPV before. Legacy didn't work the 10/05/09 Raw according to Graham's site (also used as reference for everything else here) to sell their injuries. They returned the following week at 10/12/09 and were booked in a triple threat match with Cena, with the winner joining Raw's team for the Bragging Rights match. Rhodes won pinning DiBiase after he got distracted by Orton. This same week, Maria Menounos and Nancy O'Dell were the guest hosts and booked the main event right afterward as Legacy vs. Cena/Orton, with both guys in Legacy claiming the other would attempt to pin Orton. DiBiase pinned him when Orton went after Cena over whatever. That set up the match in question the following week. All this said, they did have a match in July as well, but that was the Million Dollar Man turning babyface by pitting his son against Orton, as well as Rhodes vs. Henry after Mark turned face the following week in the Gauntlet match against Orton. I don't think there was any dissension teases at the time.

I usually like the Bellas act, but holy fuck was their shrieking during that promo fucking lame. I liked how Cole after the promo said something about AJ being jealous of not getting the attention that the Divas show gals have, but JBL was all, "There's some truth" in the promo. I did like Brie's comeback during the promo, "All you do is skip!" but I could've used a lot less of their yammering. Funkadactyls were fun during the promo. Naomi with the finger gun at one point, and Cameron throwing down her pom-poms after AJ's "sucking up...to the right people" line as if to say, "You talking to me, bitch?" were well done.
  16. No not at all, atleast in context. I mean, everyone who followed joshi to any degree beyond watching ocasional matches on comp tapes would know who these two are. And yeah, in hindsight this is one of the most obscure titles ever as it only even existed for 7 or 8 months but it was pushed as a big deal for the short period it was around. This particular match was the semi main at that years Jr All Star show (think of it as Dreamslam but limited to wrestlers with 3-4 years experience or less) which drew around 4000 in Yokohama. I stand corrected, thanks Flik. I also admit that there was some guesswork in my post, as I assume Loss has seen way more of this stuff than I have, and him not seeing any previous work of these two made me think the above.

I have a soft spot for Bull because of how she kept AJW going during during the post-Crush Gals, pre-Hokuto (in her prime) era. Plus she had a damn good long run that included those eras too and produced some memorable matches and angles. I don't know if her North American stuff means that much, but her work with Blayze opened the doors for more WWF work for Joshi (particulary Aja) before Blayze jumped. I don't know if this is enough for her to be considered the all time greatest, but she had an impressive career. She didn't have to deal with the age cap, did she? Still, though, fine run.
  18. I watched this on YouTube yesterday after reading Loss' recommendation for it in the other thread. Eveything Loss says about the match I agree with, and I really did dig Toshie's own personal struggles in her own desperate attempt to hold onto her title. I don't know if it is because these two were pretty obscure relative to anyone else in Joshi, as well as that title for that matter, but this is probably one of the better matches to come in watching cold. It seemed booked and layed out in a way for a first timer to get it, rather than a match that's a certain chapter of a prolonged story. I'm not saying it was booked for people to watch it 16 years later, but it came across to me as a match for an obscure title, but the girls went beyond that and took it to the limit, and made the match about the title. Any story/build leading to it? At any rate, great match, and thanks for the recommendation.
  19. So was this the project KC did with Vince Russo that pissed off Jim Cornette to the point of not wanting anything to do with them? Or was that something else?
  20. He goes on to say that Mr. Perfect was a more interesting and entertaining version of Bret. Urge to kill....rising.... His apparent lack of knowledge of Hennig's health/insurance issues and the real situation of Hennig jumping ship is pretty funny.
  21. A take away on Total Divas is that John and Nikki enjoy the occasional alcoholic drink, while Brie and Daniel abstain from it. That said, I could've sworn I saw Brie drink the same thing as John and Nikki on John's private plane, while Daniel was content with a bottle of water. Speaking from personal experience, it's probably a little easier to avoid even being a casual drinker if you don't own a TV.
  22. I'm disappointed that John didn't bring up the Brody comparison in his recap above.

  24. Going back to DiBiase: How could he could he legally trade Royal Rumble numbers with one of Slick's boys? Did either Jack Tunney or someone overseeing the administrative operations of the Royal Rumble rule this to be perfectly within the rules? Do trades like this come with an approval process from the powers that be, in similar fashion to trades in sports leagues?
  25. Hey...how do we not know that the only reason this happened was because Vince's pen ran out of ink?
