  1. I think I would take Scorp over Butch Reed. Scorp has never had a period where he was bad or "just there." Reed was never bad but his WWF run was disappointing.
  2. Pillman had his moments in 95 but I think he was less consistent than Wright and Arn
  3. Either Wright or Arn was the best guy in the company in 95 as well for whatever that is worth.
  4. It's not them acting like a typical corporation that bugs me; it's their usual hypocracy with claiming that they're not just a typical corporation. The WWE is far more shameless than most capitalistic organizations when it comes to lying about how much they love their employees or how they do all of this for their great fans. They really aren't. Corporations are very much PR agencies, with managers and higher ups routinely lying about how they care about their "associates" or whatever buzzword of the week they are using to describe their employees. The big difference here is that because of the independent contractor scam the WWE is allowed to get away with shit that most employers would never be able to get away with.
  5. The WWE is a corporation. That is pretty much the norm as corporations go. This sucks though I have to admit I really want to see Finlay work Chris Hero, TJP and Cabana.
  6. Badd and Page had pretty good chemistry. I think in general they had similar ideas about how to lay out a match and it worked to their advantage. To be honest I think their series would have been even better a year or two later when Page was a more complete talent, but it was still good undercard wrestling especially for that era. Actually thinking about Page you really wish the guy had been working in the WWF at the time, as his style would have worked really well with Paterson booking, and there were heavyweights over there he could have had some really great matches with.

  8. Hennig was ruined by the WWF. He was incredible in the AWA
  9. Goldberg v. The Rock is an awesome match
  10. Sid v. Goldberg at Havoc was a lot longer than 3 minutes and is the match people pimp - because it was a good match.
  11. Everyone's a liar except for Dave's source.
  12. I'll be there with a small posse
  13. Wrong. Terry Funk's AJPW theme music is the best - Midnight Express is two. I might accept Choshu as third though.

  15. Yes and I would also say it is the best Kobashi singles match ever.
  16. Where is this popping up online?
  17. Agree with the consensus. I remember thinking this was so fucking great when I saw it at the time and I fucking HATED Duggan at that point.
  18. Still in a rush but I want to say I am a fan of Hamada. Much respect for the man and his wrestling. I have much respect for his athletic feats in the ring but becoming comepletly objective here and I have no reason to be bias toward eitehr guy -- Hamanda's spots were not on the level of Sayama's spots from a WOW/physical standpoint. In fact, Sayamawas considerably ahead which is saying something since Hamada was awesome in this department too. Plus Sayama had the gimmick and the presence that worked with his atheltic ability to make him stand out even more. Props to both guys but Sayama was ahead in this deaprtment. I'm going to ignore your utterly insane rant above for the time being but it simply isn't true that Hamada's spots weren't on the level of Sayama's. Hell in their match together Hamada had the better, flashier, faster and better executed spots. That's not even disputable.
  19. What I wrote: Awesome opening as Smothers rolls up Killer Kyle at the bell while he is still in his full suit! Lots of milking the crowd. Smothers cross body did not look great but it was sold well. They did a good job of establishing dissension with DWB and Golden with Golden hitting Anthony when Smothers ducked and Smothers talking it up to DWB as if it was a deliberate shot. Tracy works through a test of strength and hits a nice dropkick. They tease another spot with Golden hitting Anthony but they stop each other only for Tracy to crack their heads together. Smothers wins with a quick sunset flip out of the corner which was kind of uneventful. Anthony comes in and immediately spikes Smothers with a DDT. Cool spot with Smothers getting thrown over the top behind Curti's back and then clotheslined back over when he tried to skin the cat in. DWB busting out the subtle eye poke on the Tracy come back attempt was nice. Really liked Tracy's selling in this as it carries a match that does not feature to many huge shots. Anthony hits one shoulder tackle and then goes for a second but Tracy ducks and DWB takes a nice bump to the floor. DWB hits a good looking cross body but Smothers rolls through for the pin. This is not a slam dunk but this was a good match, a good showcase for Tracy and a good way to establish the TV title gimmick. I've got to say if you didn't like this match I think there is very little chance you are going to like very many SMW tv matches from this period. SMW tv rarely had really good matches, and while this match isn't blowaway great I thought it was safely "good" and is easily one of the better SMW tv matches I have watched.
  20. Is that the Farmer list? Because there are a lot of problems with that list
  21. Choshu is the rare wrestler who every time he stepped into the ring during his peak run the match instantly started to feel like a bigger deal and more important. I definitely see him on that Steamboat/Vader level.
  22. I think Sheen may be working an Andy Kaufman gimmick to get out of working a sitcom he doesn't respect. Naturally I think we will see him wrestling Layla sooner rather than later
  23. So bizarre that you bring this up Tim as I just saw that it was on youtube today. Is that the oldest available Lawler match?
  24. How about veterans "limited" to just head drops?
