I have good reason to believe the SCI will be available for viewing purposes after the fact. As for Chip Day, I think the guy is a really great heel. His team with Corey Hollis was a favorite of mine a few years back, but I think he's underrated as a singles guy. Who sort of straddles the line between being a workratish dude and a guy who is more of a ring general which is rare. Stiff striker, GREAT at engaging the crowd, can work fast or slow, excellent facial expressions. He has a bit of an odd body type which is a shame, because I could see him getting signed if not for that.

I am actually about to start up a project where these guys are going to be covered individually to one degree or another. That said, if you let me know who you need a quick hit on I will provide it. Not trying to be evasive, just working on ten things right now.

What's amazing about that is that I actually think Parv underrates a couple of those matches and we still have the same takeaway in the end anyhow. I know this is Hansen's thread, but I'd really like to see Parv have a go at the Colon v. Hercules Ayala feud next.

A few things: - Last nights Combat Zone show was holy shit bad. I reviewed it here. http://www.voicesofwrestling.com/2015/07/12/combat-zone-wrestling-new-heights-2015-review/ - On the other hand Empire Wrestling Entertainment had a great show from what I hear in their Crazy From The Heat event from Rossville, Ga. I assume it will trickle out on their website as Dan Wilson was there doing live commentary. Was told by multiple people that they drew a good house, and more importantly several of the matches were said to be good to great, with a few really hot angles. Was told Kyle Matthews v. Rush was the match of the night which isn't surprising. Honestly that could win my Observer Feud of the Year Award. It's a real shame it's not available for people to see in full. - The Scenic City Invitational first round is all set. The matches are: Caprice Coleman v. Jason Collins Mark Vandy v. Ace Rockwell Kong Kong v. Tank Jimmy Rave v. Anthony Henry Corey Hollis v. Joey Lynch Chip Day v. Gunner Miller Moose v. KT Hamill Gunner v. Chrisjen Hayme On paper this looks like a really good tournament to me. It's almost the perfect combination of local guys, guys with bigger names, big guys, little guys, guys on the rise, established vets, et. I honestly have no clue who is going to win the thing, but the fact that it's being booked by someone who is not affiliated with the "home promotion" providing about half of the talent is interesting.

Someone can take Portland. Don't ask.

The thing that surprises me the most is no Funk in the top 25. I could see him being left out of the top 10 or even top 15, but would think a guy with that comprehensive of a "best of" (if you catch my drift) would have rated top 25.

I remember really liking Gannosuke and Oya, but being above Valentine is high praise for me. I see Valentine as a top half guy for this. I'm going to rewatch this stuff if I can track it down this week, more for the Valentine comparison than anything else

Interested to hear how people would compare Ki to Red. In some ways I think they were the two most dynamic guys of the early indie boom period and both sort of faded out of the limelight albeit for different reasons. From a resume perspective Low Ki feels like his case is deeper, but as a fan I was much more excited to see Red at his peak (and even now) than I was Ki.

If someone argued he was number one I wouldn't think it was crazy. I also wouldn't think someone was crazy if they had him at 50. He is a strange case

I actually liked Okada v. Styles a hair less on second watch. Still a good match, that in some ways saved the show for me (Sak v. Shibata was my easy MOTN, but I needed the main to do well), but wasn't blown away at all. Not even sure I'd have it in the ten best Styles matches of the year, but to be fair Styles has been great. As an individual performance I thought Okada's work v. Fale was clearly better. Also there was an Okada tombstone, right before the finishing run IIRC

PTBN Reaction Show: New Japan Dominion 2015
Dylan Waco replied to soup23's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I thought about that too, but all their major events are in this time range. -
I actually thought it was remarkably UNSPECIAL and not a particularly entertaining squash. It was fine, but I left it shrugging my shoulders and thinking Brock came across as a guy occupying space, instead of a "special attraction" in this instance.

How much Colon have you watched El-P? You and I agree on almost nothing these days but I would be interested to see you compare his work in death matches to Onitas.

Joe vs. the World #80: Looking for some Hot Stuff!!!
Dylan Waco replied to Joe Gagne's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Everyone watch the YouTube series it is totally worth it. This show was a great deal of fun and I thank Joe for having me on. -
I'm not opposed to extending the deadline, but I don't think it should done until we are much closer to the deadline.
-
I object to Bull Pain too, but for different reasons than Joe - Pain was always very good, and his peak was as a Texas Hangmen

He'll be in my top ten. Your clearly just going to have him there because he's canon. That must be it right?

I just don't get it beyond "well Flair's the boring choice and I want to be different", which is what it boils down to. I'm not getting into it again beyond this post, said it too many times in too many places, but stuff you're coming out is some Scott Keith level stuff. Fucking stupid nonsense, that invalidates everything you say on Flair in my view. At this point your continued harping on this line of defense makes me not want to rate Flair at all just to spite you.

KOTM was a bizarre clusterfuck. I thought the piledriver on the ladder was stupid alright, as in the most incredibly dangerous/insane spot I've seen in some time. Jarrett winning didn't seem like it was ever in doubt.

The problem with the ex-WWE stars match is that it happened. Wish it had just been Lashley v. EC3 instead
-
Audio problems on the show now. Classic tna

Didn't see much of the women's tag. Storm v. Magnus should have been a great match but wasn't because of the way it was booked. It was not bad per se, but should have been a bloodbath, hate feud match. Instead it was a better than average prop brawl, with a lame finish.

Really liked Aries v. Richards, despite a couple of typical Davey moments including a shit looking double stomp near fall down the stretch. Aries is on his way out and didn't have to work half that hard. Instead he seemed like he was aiming to steal the show. Good heeling, pacing and build from Aries, and Davey was better than normal as a whole. Best Davey singles match I've seen in ages. Maybe ever.

Could live without seeing that sort of match, or Matt Morgan, ever again
