They just announced next week's main event on SD tonight. Sometimes they do it during a commercial after the show. To get this back on topic, I hear they are possibly doing Cena/Punk again on Super Smackdown.

Butch Reed returned to the wrestling world in 2007 when he was Teddy Long's best man for his wedding on Smackdown. He looked exactly like he did here. As for the match, it went way too long but I liked the commentary by Rod Price and the other guy.

It's amazing that Han can take that much punishment and comeback. Great stuff. Did Han vs Antonio Inoki ever happen?
-
The kick to the face while the guy had him in a leg lock was just brutal. I'm shocked that didn't end the fights. Nice slams and the finish was nice.

Jumbo kicking Kikuchi in the Jaw never gets old. Entertaining match but yeah Jumbo doesn't look that well here. Had a hell of a year though.

I highly doubt it. Now if TMZ did this, probably so.

[1992-08-15-USWA-TV] Interview: Eddie & Doug Gilbert & Brian Christopher

Kinda funny that the Memphis Mafia was born after an attack on Tommy Rich only to see him join the group a couple weeks later with Buddy Landell. -
[1992-08-15-WWF-Superstars] Update: More Summerslam hype
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in August 1992
Gene's dig at Sherri about the Republican National Convention was awesome. And I guess Diana was trying to get a job at One Life to Live with that performance.- 9 replies

I just couldn't get into this and I usually like Toyota. The match was fine but I don't understand why they were in a hair match where it seemed like there was no hate. Isn't that the whole point of hair matches? You do one because either A: You want to embarrass your opponent or b: Lazy booking doing multiperson hair matches to pay someone extra. Why did Toyota try to stop the hair cutting? Would Yamada have done the same thing if the roles were reverse? I would hope not.

Really liked the story of this match with the feuding partners and Bull/Aja taking advantage. Hokuto takes a beating with those clotheslines while she's on the top rope. It's a wonder she didn't get concussed hitting the apron like that. One thing I never got is why Aja was allowed to use weapons without getting Dq'd? Was there a no DQ rule just for her? Hokuto did it too.

[1992-08-14-Kentucky Wrestling] J.C. Ice vs Wolfie D
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in August 1992
I think this is from one of those outlaw shows that ran in like Kentucky/Indiana that Meltzer used to talk about in the Observer. This was awesome just for the atmosphere. You had women threatening to attack the heels. Who was the guy that helped Wolfie? Where did the footage come from? Is the whole show available? -
Yes and that was awesome. As for the match, Who booked this shit, Herb Abrams? That was the weirdest thing I've ever seen in wrestling. Didn't the Rock N Roll Express do a match like this a year later?

Well that article lived up to the hype. One of the best things I've seen from the Observer. Even if you don't like MMA, I think people will enjoy it.

[1992-08-12-NJPW-G1 Climax] Rick Rude vs Masa Chono
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in August 1992
This was really good with lots of drama and Rude/Chono worked very well together. Even Dusty and Watts seemed into the match. Having said that, Rude's matches with Warrior were probably a better Rude performance. And I got a big laugh out of Rude doing his mic schtick in Japan.- 16 replies

I really enjoyed this. I've been down on New Japan so far on the yearbook but they have some really good tag matches. Steiners rule and I agree about Muto/Sasakin mocking the Steiners was awesome. Sasaki looked like he almost broke Scott's neck a couple times.

Good mat wrestling based match. Not a big fan of the 1 minute second fall but that's normal in Lucha.
-
They do it for Smackdown and the ratings don't do much. Of course, it's on Firday so that will be the excuse. I'm liking how the shifted from Cena/Punk to HHH/Punk. The promo work has been good between both men but not liking Nash so far. I just can't believe the What chants are getting to him that bad.

Antonio Pena should go in before Sting and Angle. How is he not even nominated?

[1992-08-11-NJPW-G1 Climax] Masa Chono vs Keiji Muto
Tim Evans replied to Loss's topic in August 1992
This just felt like it would never stop. Keji Muto is kinda boring compared to Great Muta. And Chono is ok and I like the different ways he's able to hook in the STF but this was kinda boring.- 10 replies

I'm not the biggest MMA fan but after hearing the preview of the History of MMA thing Dave is writing in the Observer this week, I'm kinda looking forward to reading it. Dave always does good history stories.
