  1. Finished USWA 1997 a couple days ago. The final months (July-September) featured I think 3 different authority figures and numerous different wrestlers. PJ Walker as PG187 the third member of PG13 was funny. It was basically the Justin Credible gimmick if he was Konnan. Fake Diesel became Doomsday and held the USWA Heavyweight title for most of the time till he lost it to Steven Dunn. That match should make the 97 set just for Doomsday running through a wall. Doug Gilbert came in for a short time in August and feuded with Doomsday and Dutch Mantell who was the main heel of the group. Dutch won the Unified title from Lawler and I think was the final champ. He had a match with Dreamer after Lawler lost at Hatrdcore Heaven. I didn't know the ECW/USWA feud continued after that? They seemed to be heading towards a Lawler vs Dundee vs Mantell vs Dreamer feud but the company folded before then. Also Tommy Rich had one match on the second to last live show before they moved to Midnight and that was the end of USWA. Best thing about the final days was the Billy Travis vs Brian Christopher feud. Hopefully that gets some recognition on the 97 Yearbook. You had Billy getting legit arrested, lost his title to Spellbinder and then got fired for no showing dates. A couple weeks later, he starts picketing outside the studio about how unfair James Beard(the matchmaker). This leads to a big parking lot brawl outside and Billy gets arrested again. The next week, Brian goes too fast and almost runs over Billy legit. Billy and Brian had a cage match outside the big one but sadly no video was shown on TV. Billy got rehired thanks to Dutch Mantell but then USWA folded and that was the end of it. Billy was the star of USWA 97 along with Spellbinder, Flash Flanagan and Brian Christopher. Lawler did close to nothing and was almost a non factor all year. Oh and Bradshaw shows up as Blackjack Bradshaw and joins Team Icon( Dutch, Rod Price and Doomsday).
  2. Oh man, what a video. Dig the instrumental to the American Males song.
  3. Why is Cornette getting so much offense on Armstrong? Just ugh. And Punisher can't even beat up a one armed man? This was bad.
  4. Landell really is promo of the year. Even when he's not trying, he's awesome.
  5. So I guess this was Lawler/Roberts before that feud even started? Good promo by Cornette but I'm not sure why he needed to manage Rich? It's not like Rich was a bad talker.
  6. First fall was really good with the mat work and some vicious kicks by Santo to the face. Then the second turned into a brawl. Nasty sunset flip to the outside by Santo. Good match although kinda short.
  7. Alfonso has his bowite over the neckbrace. He rules.
  8. The start of the Loose Cannon gimmick. I don't think they explained why Pillman was with Anderson though.
  9. Savage going "Are you serious" on Luger is awesome. Good segment.
  10. Shawn and Diesel being buddy buddies with the rest of the faces is weird. Bulldog looks absolutely massive here.
  11. End of the road for Yoko. Owen did some good bumping towards the end of this.
  12. A good crowd helped this match a lot. I think it even took Lawler and Vince by surprise in between talking about the tag titles and Clarence Mason.
  13. This was good but wasn't special. Kinda felt like a match you would see main eventing Raw at the moment.
  14. Lafitte is really impressive here. Still I don't get why Bret was in such a low position in 95. I guess it's cause of the Kliq? Lafitte's counter of the crucifix is awesome.
  15. Classic Dusty. During this, they show footage from CWF. I thought Mike Graham was fired along with Dustin and the Bully?
  16. Flair says he won't beg but then he begs? Man Sting looks stupid here even for considering tagging with Flair.
  17. Landell hating on Rich is funny. Good promo from one of the best.
  18. Not just one chain but TWO. Lawler's Browns tights are almost as bad as HBK's elimination chamber tights.
  19. Vince going crazy while Cornette interrupts him was funny. Yoko just looks massive here.
  20. Marlyn Monroe, James Dean and Gordon Geko? One of those people don't fit.
  21. Awful finish to this with Silver King botching the finish. I didn't care much for this although Silver King's dive was nice. It had blood but not much.
  22. I didn't love this as much as Loss but it was very enjoyable. The moonsalt to the floor Rey does towards the end of the match is spectacular.
  23. Am I the only one that keeps getting a Malicious URL warning on this site? It's only for a couple topics but I'm guessing it's someone's avatar?
