Baltimore was ROH's headquarters so it would be a good place to announce whatever it is Tony's been working on TV deal wise.

Dynamite will probably be fun, but the more important news is I got a job offer today for a higher paying position than the one I got laid off from last month.

He's not a Rock or Austin, but he's been around long enough at or near the top that if anyone at WB had a casual knowledge of wrestling they'd recognize him. IIRC him and JR were what convinced the suits that it wasn't just a group full of people who have never done this before.

I got the impression there was more than meets the eye when I saw his half in character/half out tweet about getting cut and feeling embarrassed.

It's okay to not like Jericho, but considering signing him was a big part in getting a TV deal at the start (and may be a part of getting the next one), saying he's the most negative influence is frankly ridiculous hyperbole.

Not surprisingly, Ava Raine seems to be good at promos right out of the gate.

not sure why the NXT tag champs are out here starting shit with the NXT and NA champs, but Truth's shirt reminded me that the 24/7 title is apparently still a thing.

Yeah I don't think I'd ever be interested in going on one of those Saudi trips if I was in WWE on a good day, I certainly wouldn't be now.

On one hand it seems like he really hasn't been progressing much and has been spinning his wheels for a while, but they *just* started that angle with Duke (and boy does that poor guy seem to have terrible luck) so this is a head scratcher.

"Last Woman Standing" kind of hits different in Saudi Arabia

Even in kayfabe this Corbin stuff makes no sense, why would JBL want to associate with this geek?
-
Speaking of NXT, Von Wagner was part of the Brock/Bob pull apart brawl.

WWE dodged a bullet as the World Series game today was postponed to tomorrow due to weather.

Seems pretty clear that their role was to be the last straw to push MJF over the edge to babyface status.

If we're being honest I think we all kind of knew this is how Punk and AEW would end, the only surprising part is how he speedran it in the course of about a year.
-
Punk became the grumpy old man saying things were better in his day that his younger self would have told to fuck off. On a macro level he's not wrong, there's certainly things you can take from "simpler" approaches. Problem is young folks aren't going to want to hear that noise and ESPECIALLY not from a guy like Punk. I don't blame him for trying but he should have been adult enough to realize not everyone is going to treat it like manna from heaven. It seems like Page from how he says it tried every way he could to let Punk down easy that he wasn't interested in his advice.

At this point AEW and New Japan should just do like soccer teams and loan out guys they aren't using and/or getting stale to each other. Plus I think Juice isn't without any upside, he was perfectly acceptable as a mid to upper card tag team guy before the attempt to make him into Generic Bullet Club Heel #532 for some unknown reason. Also while watching Sunday Night Football, they showed an ad for the Premier League (NBC has the TV rights here in MURICA). Made me think that would be a great opportunity for someone who owned a team in each league that maybe has another business they run that could benefit from being advertised on NFL and EPL games.

Just when you thought Brazil was down for the count they hulked up and dropped the big leg.
-
Clearly everyone wants to take part in the last run of a legit legend, even Sting is going to do a match, so I don't blame Nak wanting to take part too.
-
Honestly at this point it seems clear Karl just took the big check for the Saudi show and said F New Japan.

When Regal said the line about only using his brass knucks because he wanted to, not to cheat.... that seemed like a foreshadowing moment to me. Right there made me predict a finish where MJF either ends up using his Ring (or even better, Regal's knucks) to win "because he wanted to".

So in case you were wondering, Val Venis's new career is being a First Amendment Auditor on Youtube, which means he goes around harassing cops and going to court over minor traffic citations because he doesn't feel traffic laws apply to him.

To be fair, Waffle House can squash any beef.

The crowd seems to really want MJF to be a babyface, so them fighting too hard against that could run the risk of creating a pre Tribal Chief Roman situation. The Rock comparison is pretty apt if for no other reason than Rock showed you can be a super mega over babyface and still be kind of an asshole.

His reaction to the "I don't give a DAMN what the Tribal Chief says" line was gold. Every kid who ever fucked up in front of their parents has seen that look.
