Pretty much, the issue is there apparently no one in the family left who has the patience/appetite to deal with the business side of wrestling. They're fine with having a side hustle that's guaranteed to make them money that they can just stick in a closet and pretend doesn't exist, but when i comes to dealing with things like booking or placating stars, there's no interest there.

Shoutout to Mia Yim, didn't want to leave his side even though it meant she got it too.

Psycho has been pretty good, you could argue he probably wasn't 100% ready when they started his ace push, but he's lived up to the hype. He' seems to have that Cena appeal with the kids too,

I mean....I'll try on Friday, but I'm only one person!

Yeah this show will probably be really good. Andrade hasn't looked great in AEW but Kenny is GOAT and will make this match great by force if necessary. Psycho vs Rey was already going to be emotional for obvious reasons but more so that Rey Escorpion was one of Porky's last rivals. Has all the makings for a "not a dry eye in the house" moment. Faby vs Deonna will be interesting just to for the political aspect. AAA likes the idea of putting a title on a foreign guy to get them eyeballs outside of Mexico (that's why Kenny's Mega champ), but it never seems to work out the way they think it will. I would expect Deonna to win and exactly zero people watching only Impact will even care about the other belt she has. On the plus side, I'd expect Impact to a least mention AAA on TV, which AEW hilariously never seems to do when Kenny comes out with the belt. The Marvel match is always fun just to watch Twitter figure out who was playing the characters.

Despite the Mexico City area getting bumped back in the higher COVID status, the show is going on at the Mexico City Arena (limiting the crowd to 25% capacity in a venue that normally seats about 22k) Due to ongoing legal issues that would have AAA get clowned like people do Impact if anyone could stay awake long enough to read them all, there is technically no way to watch the show outside of Mexico, but cubsfan will be streaming the show on Twitch if you want to watch it. Despite that, the card is actually looking pretty good. The Lineup: Kenny Omega vs Andrade for the AAA Mega Championship Faby Apache vs Deonna Purrazzo title for title AAA and Impact women's titles Psycho Clown vs Rey Escorpion mask vs hair A trios match with the Marvel characters AAA created for that deal they made Drago, Mamba, Mr. Iguana, and probably a lot of other people TBA (not as many TBA people as normal due to COVID restrictions ) in the Copa Triplemania rumble) Fenix/Penta vs Hijo del Vikingo/Laredo Kid vs Taurus/TBA for the AAA tag titles and probably the match everyone will be making GIF from after the show Team AAA (Pagano, Chessman, and Murder Clown) vs Team Empresa (Sam Adonis, Puma King and DMT Azul) the heel team is the latest "legally distinct from CMLL" invasion angle and DMT Azul is the former Diamonte Azul under a "legally distinct from my CMLL name" name.

I wonder if we might be seeing the end of CMLL in the not too distant future. Yes, the company is basically incapable of losing money but the only person in the family who gave a shit about wrestling was Paco. As weird as he was with his grudges, he at least had the desire to do *something* with the company. The rest of the family makes their money in real estate and to them CMLL is just that weird thing their dad/grandpa started up 80 something years ago. Sofia had interest too, but the family wasn't having that and ran her off. I wonder if at some point the family is just going to be done with this crazy wrestling stuff and get rid of it. They clearly don't seem to want to deal with anyone either asking for well deserved star treatment like Rush and family, or just clearly top guys like NGD who just want to anything of meaning to do in their careers.

I keep seeing commercials for that new Heels show on Starz, and the one main guy in the show looks so much like Hangman I thought it was him for a second.

Yeah we got a bad rap because we don't lap up whatever shit WWE puts out so they labeled us a "bad wrestling town" despite there being decades of history here dating back to Bruno selling out Forbes Field. I mean, the Taker/Foley HIAC match was here. Also DMD > Everybody
-
I see it as them trying to find some way to run back a highly anticipated match that got fucked up, yeah it doesn't entirely make sense but if we get to see it again then I can excuse it.

For some reason, Penta in civilian clothes and mask/facepaint cracked me up.
-
lol at Christian out here using Pittsburgh-ese, never thought I would hear "jagoff" on national TV.
-
I was thinking the same thing, gives me young Rey Jr vibes in terms of "young guy doing things no one has seen before"
-
I'm selfishly hoping they will do something officially announcing Punk on Friday since I'll be in attendance.
-
It has been interesting/hilarious that the wrestling company owned by the most right wing business has done the best in responding to covid.

I wonder what these new criteria means for someone like WALTER. He's past their preferred age slightly (I actually thought he was older and was surprised he's only 33) and while he's bigger he doesn't have the typical WWE body.

The impression I got was there was an agreement in place who would get the role and UG politicked his way into getting it. Basically the Lutteroths are the lucha McMahons ans UG is their HHH.

Thatcher seems like the perfect guy to have in NXT to give the noobs someone to work with who knows what he's doing, which appears to be the plan. Holland seems like a decent looking guy, nothing world stopping. His gimmick works for his look, even if it is kind of what an American thinks a British tough guy would dress like.
-
He tried to save face by denying he was an anti vaxxer by claiming he was just trying to look at BOTH SIDES which is actually worse because we've only had like a year and a half where one side has time and time again been shown to be full of shit so what can he possibly be looking into at this point?
-
Yeah Jones seems like the exact type they want in the new NXT, dude seems to be loaded with charisma and just needs more polish.
-
I mean, Bryan ain't exactly movie star handsome (I'm sure Brie disagrees) and he became a big star.
-
Yeah, Dragunov is like the one guy who's WWE "beat the babyface until the crowd rallies behind him" has a chance of working.
-
It should always be remembered that the Alvarado family (La Mascara and Maximo) got fired from CMLL for trashing Ultimo Gurterro's car because they felt he stole leadership of the wrestler's union from the family. While that was certainly not the best way to handled the situation, it's a sign that Gurrerro's been the source of a lot of issues within CMLL.

It has to have some kind of audience or else people would stop doing it, right? It's not my jam but it seems like the shows that feature it get enough of a crowd to keep doing it so I chalk it up to "if it works, it works, but I don't have to like it".

I'm just reminded of Paul Heyman being so grossed out after the Sabu/Terry Funk barb wire match where Sabu got his arm torn up and glued it together mid-match. that he vowed to never have another barb wire match in ECW again (and he didn't) because he couldn't ask anyone to do that in good conscience. That match would be considered relatively tame by today's deathmatch standards.
