Well this is just completely awful news.

I get the impression that Dave wants to keep the show at an hour or so and tells Bryan to keep things on track. He does the same thing to a lesser degree on his shows with Lance Storm, but that's probably due more to Lance having a million classes to teach and needing to squeeze time in. He's always been more of a "these are the subjects we need to discuss next" guy on those shows. He's also been fairly open with the fact he kind of purposely plays heel on the B&V type shows since him and Vinny have good comedy chemistry as the "loudmouth little guy and his much larger friend who gets his shots in" type. I actually think the shows they do with Craig are even better since he tends to make jokes that everyone but Bryan get and let him do whatever the comedy equivalent of heel stooging would be.

Regardless of why, it was bold since it was JBL's idea and also the ultimate Vince McMahon patriotism jerk off.
-
To me the biggest issue is how ROH thinks guys will pay for the opportunity to tryout, but no one of any reasonable talent will bother because they just go and work elsewhere to build up their name.
-
During shows too? Does he lock himself in the bathroom or something?
-
Well RVD did refuse to go to the Tribute to the Troops shows that were in Afganistan (IIRC), so I could see him both refusing to do this show and not giving a shit if he got fired over it.

WWE TV 10/15/18 - 10/21/18: Fear, Loathing, and PRACTICE!!

Kinda not TV related, but I had to mention WWE clanging out another PR misfire by posting photos of Dana Warrior decked out in pink Ultimate Warrior facepaint to stand up against bullying and for the LGBT community. You could tell someone on the social media team must have known that it was a bad idea since they didn't even tag her directly in the post. -
Cody's clearly been hinting at something that would change the landscape, and that would certainly fit the bill. I've always assumed that Billy Corgan and Dave Lagana were working behind the scenes to try to land some deal for the NWA, since they keep promising big things and really haven't done much other than the YouTube series. If this ends up being anywhere close to true, I wonder how the logistics will play out. A new group would need TV somewhere, and not a broke ass no money deal like what Impact has on Pop. Will an All In 2 draw anywhere close to the original since the first show was all about Cody and the Bucks pretty much willing it into existence? They achived their goal, I don't see another 10,000 people traveling to be the second non WWE show to hit that number in 25+ years. On a positive note, a promotion led by those guys could be pretty well booked. Cody has shown to have a great mind for things, and in this new open borders world of non WWE wrestling, they could probably get guys like Kenny to make cameos to keep things interesting. Also Vince reacting to Shahid Kahn as the new Billionare Ted would be amazing to see.

Edge was also good at getting over in vastly different gimmicks/roles. He started off as the loner vampire heartthrob in the Brood and was the star of that group in no time. Then he was doing the wacky goofball team with Christian that was also able to kick ass in TLC matches and got over big there. Finally he was the mega asshole heel who practically cuckolded Matt Hardy on live TV and that was arguably the best run he had. -
Williams even being able to enter Japan again let alone work there speaks volumes on the power Baba was able to wield.
-
In before WWE files some kind of injunction claiming they own the likeness of the old JCP US belt.
-
I always got the impression Jim Crockett just sat around the TBS offices pouting after Dusty got run off, but I had no idea he lasted until 1992.
-
I don't think commercials play any role (other than tiers lower than $9.99 will have more obviously). I think any higher tier would just have more content, potentially content that WWE has to go out and spend money on.
-
My prediction is the $9.99 tier will be the Network more or less as it is now, the higher ($15? $20?) tier will probably have the UK indies they've been sitting on, and maybe more vault stuff since then it would be justification for any additional costs involved in restoring/archiving/digitizing everything.

MBS already revealed himself as a mark for 90s wrestling, Nash probably figures that call's coming soon. Also it's interesting they apparently have chosen "it's just entertainment" as their hill to die on here. The John Oliver piece spilled the beans to everyone outside the wrestling bubble that this was a paid infomercial for the Kingdom, so trying to pretend it's just another show on their touring schedule makes no sense.
-
His one friend is getting the payday of his lifetime for the show, and his other friend is next in line to run the company. Not surprised Nash is going to toe the corporate line here.
-
Well not anymor,e but it's something conservatives *used* to be against. Also after reading his latest Deadspin piece, WWE's going to send JBL to Bix's place to shut him up.

It was fine to use that talking point for the first show (not really but work with me here), to think that a regieme that blatantly murders journalists critical of them will suddenly see the light because rasslin' came to town is just flat insulting. Not to mention that the whole idea of murdering journalists is probably spank bank material for Vince's BFF. It's also pretty funny to see Randy Orton of all people, who's not afraid to be unabashedly right wing on social media, sucking up to Saudi Arabia. They stand for the complete opposite everything a diehard conservative is supposed to stand for.

All this time I thought the Frances being talked about was Jim Sr's widow, I didn't know there was a sister involved. I only ever heard of Jim Jr, David, and Jackie.

I can't wait for Roman's career retrospective in 15 years where he tells the story of having to prove management wrong and he really was a star after all. -

Edge was the only guy to get the crowd 100% against him and for Cena at a time when that seemed impossible to pull off. He understood his character better than most do and it showed. -
It also sells her short because she really has improved from the days where she wasn't much more than the typical good-looks-no-talent Divas era wrestler. It's just so WWE that even on the show meant to celebrate the Stephanie McMahon Memorial Women's Empowerment Movement they can't help but book the main event in the same old catty "you're jealous, well you're a ho" style.
-
I'd be curious to know the percentage of people in the crowd who are even aware of what is going on beyond a general sense of "the Saudis aren't someone we'd normally want to be so buddy-buddy with". I would be surprised if there was a high level of awareness, but I was surprised at how many people were aware of the issues surrounding Snuka when they aired the tribute package for him and then cut to an uncomfortable looking crowd.

Apparently JBL was on some Fox Business show and tried the "it's ok for WWE to run this show because they also do good stuff sometimes" and people are reacting as badly as you'd expect.
