  1. Dan Wahlers is ANGRY!!!! This column is completely hilarious as Young Master Dan apparently is just now aware of what anyone with a functioning frontal lobe knew roughly five minutes after WWE initially announced its Wellness Policy. OMGWTFBBQ~! A wrestling company full of carnies has been lying to you! The policy was all a sham!. Jesus Christ, am I just that jaded or does it seem like Wahlers needs water wings and a helmet to eat soup? Nevermind, it's definitely the latter.
  2. I get the online version of the Multichannel News (think WON for the TV industry) emailed daily, and today's headline was about the WWE suspensions. Considering they've been pimping Bonnie Hammer getting inducted in the Broadcasting and Cable HOF, this has to be a little embarrassing for her.
  3. The best is how Kennedy went to Stephanie to ask if he could respond to TEH EVIL MEDIA~!, get told no, then go to Vince because he just HAD to get his side of the story out (BAH GAWD!). Doesn't anyone in the whole company ever stop for just a second to see how a grand majority of the reason they have the rep they do is because of how they respond in cases like this? The most horrible thing that could happen to company takes place, and they can only react by sending guys out making hilariously false statements and trying to kayfabe the real world as if the news was just another segment on RAW.
  4. So is Ken Kennedy the biggest douchebag in pro wrestling right now or what? After playing company stooge to the point of embarrassment, it comes out he was getting drug shipments up to February 2007.
  5. It seems kind of silly for WWE to act like they're taking some sort of high ground by not naming names until after 11/1, when it's going to be obvious when 3/4ths the roster is off TV. Speaking of, with this many suspensions I would think WWE is going to have to address this on air at some point, even a total revival of kayfabe won't accept that many guys just vanishing off TV.
  6. WWE.com lists its Greatest SummerSlam Moments and # 7 is Randy Orton becoming the youngest World Champion by beating an Unnamed Opponent in 2004. There's the clue that the Canadian crowd was 100% against Orton, but other than that, its not nearly as awkward as you'd imagine. However the results page lists both participants as well as the photo gallery showing a certain T-rex armed former champion from behind being bodypressed by young Randall.
  7. Wrestler of the Year: John Cena Sr.
  8. I don't even know if you're being serious at this point, but from what I can gather Meltz is seen as a joke in serious MMA circles. I don't know if that's true or not since I only follow MMA at the most basic level, but what I've seen is the mere mention of the WON as MMA journalism causing massive LOLz Also, isn't the award "Wrestler of the Year"? How can you have a non wrestler up for it? If it was Entertainer of the Year or Draw of the Year I'd agree with you 1000%.
  9. If Randy Couture were to win the award, would he even be aware of it?
  10. I know, but I get the feeling he's going to get pushed hard for it. If it was Fighter of the Year or Awesomest Dude of the Year, I'd have no problem with it.
  11. Which is ridiculous, considering he's a MMA-ist and not a wrestler.
  12. Was the fast-count-that-wasn't at Starrcade 97 a legit screwup or something more nefarious? I always heard Hogan somehow got to Nick Patrick and convinced him not to do it, which sounds like BS but then crazier stuff was going on in WCW. Also it doesn't seem like someone like Nick would screw up the most important part of the match and make everyone involved look like a choad.
  13. Yeah but wrestling retirements aren't permanent unless brought about by death. Also, and I'm not saying it's incorrect, but why is Moolah always discounted as a "no" vote with no explanation given? I would think given the lowered standards of US women's wrestling she'd be a lock but it's not like the world is a lesser place if she never gets voted in. Just wondering why she gets the automatic dismissal all the time.
  14. They found her for RAW the next night too. That still ranks up there with one of the most disgusting moments in wrestling history for me.
  15. I seriously didn't know the Steiners were thought of by anyone as anything more than guys who stiffed a lot of dudes and had a run in New Japan when WCW was sending a lot of talent over there. I never realized there was a sense of the Steiners being thought of as HOF-worthy in any non-ironic sense. I mean, they had some good matches, but c'mon. Scott had a much better career as a singles worker and no one would suggest he's HOF worthy.
  16. Just wanted to say I like this format, it worked really well for the first disc and I was hoping it would stick around.
  17. I would think if anything it would have changed to more privacy, like how Florida changed who can access autopsy records after Dale Earnhardt's death.
  18. Thought I'd use this thread to share some photos of famous masked luchadors sans mask......... Blue Demon Mil Mascaras El Santo
  19. Honestly, there's probably at least a hundred Randy Ortons on every major college campus. He's the wrestling equivalent of that buddy of yours that turns every night out with the boys into Animal House: The Home Game. If his dad and grandpa weren't famous rasslers, he'd probably be another frat boy goof posting videos on YouTube of him teabagging his rommates.
  20. My bad, got my mark doctors confused. Still, don't get the guy who's already got caught with his hand in the cookie jar to go on TV and deny up a storm. I can almost hear Vince's defense.... "The man in those documents had the initials "O.G." so clearly it wasn't REY MYSTERIO! Completely different person!"
  21. Rey Mysterio went on Fox News and repeatedly deny using steroids, saying his only connection to Dr. Astin was for pain meds after his knee surgeries. Considering it's already been made public that Astin was prescribing steroids for Rey, WWE really needs to stop trying to kayfabe the real world.
  22. It's maddening that people like Mitchell have votes for the HOF when they clearly demonstrate how up their own ass they can be when it comes to their rationale. Seriously, if you don't think the RnR's are HOF-worthy you really shouldn't be given the power to vote.
  23. Watching Nitro made me wonder: Is it considered a break of kayfabe in Mexico when someone wrestles out of gimmick and maskless? I mean, it would seem anyone remotely familiar with Lucha would realize "Rey Mendoza, Jr" is a maskless Villano (the "IV" on his singlet is kind of a giveaway too).
  24. What's worse is they seem to be purposely goading him into a mental breakdown.
  25. The more I hear people debate this, the more I think that the WON HOF has ridiculously high standards. After you get past the Austin/Hogan/Flair/Rock level, you can pretty much make a case against anyone else. The criteria is just vague enough that anyone who doesn't make the cut has enough doubt so you can't really call anyone out on it. Hell, at least with the WWE HOF you know the criteria is "whoever the hell Vince wants in" so you know who has a chance and who doesn't.
