  1. I don't get the point of the feud other than HHH getting to squish his hero. In theory it could be a good boost to restore some cred to the IC belt, but I don't think that will happen either. I guess I'll just enjoy the promos and not get too many expectations.
  2. Nice to see when it came time to finally pull the trigger on HHH vs Flair, Flair got the beatdown and you know he's not going to get the usual babyface revenge.
  3. If you're gonna have someone get beat up by the old timers, why not Rob Conway? It's not like he's got a chance of getting over with his new gimmick. Plus, I admit it, I marked out for the Iron Claw~! I was surprised the Von Erich name could still get a pop in Dallas, I wouldn't have guessed the 2005 RAW fan watched much World Class.
  4. Why would WWE think they own a copyright on the term "superstar"? Is it even possible (or defenseable) to have a copyright on a common word like that? Athletes have been called superstars long before WWE. Is Vince going to expand his legal department and go after Broadway plays too, leaving us with "Jesus Christ Sports Entertainer"?
  5. I love how TNA has that vibe where the fans really mark out for the show. The matches might not all be five-star classics, but the crowd is buying what their being sold and that makes any show seem that much better when the fans are into it. It's a big contrast to WWE where most guys get entrance pops then maybe a pop for their finish.
  6. I'm waiting for the day WWE threatens suit against any other company that calls itself professional wrestling. You know that day's coming.
  7. it started a 11 om EST. I'm watching it right now. They're gonna run a replay at 12 midnight Monday too.
  8. While I was in between rounds of packing, I was reading stuff on wikipedia (which I know only has the credibility of the anonymous writers who add to it). On it, they say TNA ceased to be an NWA member in 2004. I know they have a deal to use the NWA World and Tag titles, and 2004 was about the time they stopped billing themselves as NWA-TNA but the NWA homepage still considers TNA a member. So what's the straight scoop? *edit* I just checked the NWA page again, and they don't list TNA as a member anymore. Isn't that kind of a dumb deal for the NWA to sign their world titles over to a fed not even a member?
  9. I'd imagine he dislikes Heenan because Bobby has that way of letting you know how much he thinks someone sucks without coming right out and saying it. Since no one is allowed to show dislike in Warrior World, he must be destroyed.
  10. With the life Jake has led, just telling his story straight up would come off as a burial job. I mean, how can you spin that in any positive way at all?
  11. Sounds like a story that needs to be told... As the story goes, Warrior was going around backstage with pretty much the same attitude he displayed in the post above, and Rick Rude confronted him and knocked him the fuck out with one punch.
  12. WWE just looks even more pathetic thinking he'd appear on Byte This after they released a DVD just to bash him. He has nothing to gain from appearing, and the more the WWE tries to bait him the more petty they look.
  13. What a fucking nutjob. He's right when it comes with WWE holding a grudge about him being the only person to ever tell Vince to GFY when he tried his usual bully tactics, but he's still insane. Not to mention he has a deluded sense of his value in wrestling. Yeah he was a big draw, but after his programs with Rick Rude and Hogan (two guys who had the charisma to make a feud click) he couldn't draw flies with a bag of shit.
  14. I thought Edge either blew a knee or broke his neck with that Shockmaster bump he took. Why the hell would you have a guy who's had neck surgery take a completely pointless bump like that is beyond me.
  15. Yeah, his was almost Vader-esque in quality.
  16. Apparently Spike is censoring any mention of USA tonight. They keep cutting to a "Techinical Difficulties" screen any time a sign that said "USA owns Spike" sign got on TV.
  17. He's been in the biz long enough to establish that "Don West" and "modicum of intellegence" seldom appear in the same sentence.
  18. Presumably you'd be right, but Don West isn't a "wrestling guy" and as such might not be expected to know the unwritten rules like "always take the bullet when someone insults your top guy". Then again, if he could shill that crap on QVC, putting over JJ as a credible main eventer is probably a piece of cake for him.
  19. I agree with West when he says there's more negativity online, but what got me is his suggestion that hating people for playing backstage games somehow equates to good heeling. He's saying JJ gets negativity on the net because he's good at being a heel rather than because of people thinking he's undeserving of his push.
  20. I'm sure they'll call it the Triple D, so they can take not-so-thinly veiled shots at WWE. "Triple D puts everyone down!"
  21. They're kinda egging WWE to sue, aren't they? I feel sorry for the first announcer to misspeak and call them by their WWE owned names.
  22. Impossible as it may seem, there's still some wrestling fans who don't watch MMA.
  23. The problem with Meltz's star ratings for PPVs is you can always tell which match was his favorite since there's always one that jumps out and makes you say "that match couldn't have been THAT good". Like he gave the Matt vs Edge cage match **** 1/2 or something and you know that rating's a bit inflated.
  24. Joe vs Styles from Sacrifice was probably the best match I've seen so far this year. I haven't seen Unbreakable yet so that may change.
  25. I was reading an interview with Don West, and when asked about the negative reaction Jeff Jarrett gets from net fans, he basically said he must be doing his job (as a heel) well if he's ticking people off. Now I know he's not going to bash his company's owner/booker/champ, but I hear this a lot from wrestling companies small and large that if the net hates someone, it's because the person's so good at heeling. WWE trots this line out when the HHH bashing gets hot and heavy as well. Meltz likes to trumpet how many people in the biz read WO, they have to know the difference between "I hate you because you're a heel doing heel shit" heat and "I hate you because you're using backstage politics to get a push or title you don't deserve" heat. I suspect, however, that most wrestling companies just don't get it. They just view net fans as just another breed of marks, and while that may be true to some degree, you can't just act like they're the foam finger waving five year old who boos all the heels and cheers the faces. Wrestling seems to be going through a weird evolution where there's a new kayfabe where everyone cops to "sports entertainment" but they act like no one knows about backstage politics. Like, you'll see WWE.com talking about additions and departures to "creative" but they'll never admit that HHH has veto power over pretty much everything that happens. Folks from TNA will freely discuss the "booking staff" but any questions about JJ's push will be met with puzzled stares. I'm not saying WWE should devote an episode of RAW to discuss HHH's influence or TNA should devote an Impact! to why JJ deserves a push, but to act like the people who do read about these things are crazy is fairly insulting to people's intellegence.
