  1. That's awesome. I wish my refrigerator shelf was capable of holding thirty pounds of gold though.
  2. That would be awesome if they allowed Danielson to look as good as he did against Morishima.
  3. That's hilarious. Especially considering how great this Mark Henry heel push is going. I'm actually a bit bummed that Christian won the strap, because I was hoping that after the feuds with Show and Christian, that Orton and Henry would feud for the strap. I'd prefer to see Christian/Henry myself. Though it would be weird to see a heel vs. heel feud, I still think it would be awesome and that Henry and Christian could pull it off. There have been some excellent punt kicks to that particular region before - but yes - it was indeed awesome. It made Christian a better heel in the process.
  4. Sting in TNA has been underwhelming mic stuff though. "I'll tell you what Kurt Angle. Kurt, at LockDown, it's going to be me and you Kurt. One on one Kurt. Sting versus Kurt Angle. Oh. And Kurt. My bat is coming with me Kurt." I swear that I heard a Sting promo like that a year or so back on TV. (CM Punk versus the World)
  5. Man. Could the WWE really be planning to do an angle that I would love unceremoniously in Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk - Best in the World?
  6. Yes, that show is insanely popular. But on Monday, they combined three shows - American Pickers, American Restoration, and ended with Pawn Stars, which might explain the probable jump in ratings.
  7. Oh. I don't think it's bad. I think the program has an opportunity to do something fun and refreshing. I was obviously referring to whomever the negative nancies are and the likelihood that they will interpret the poor TV rating as because of CM Punk. Vince or whoever actually makes decisions backstage nowadays, they always fucking panic when something doesn't get red hot in the ratings immediately. They handle debuts too, but at least debuts make more sense because of all the first impression cliches.
  8. Surprised the derby pulled in any kind of ratings considering how poorly it was announced. A 2.9 Raw rating has got to be disappointing and all of the naysayers of this Punk program have some 'ammunition' now.
  9. I'd go Sting, easily. Luger's best early opponent was Ric Flair. But Sting had that *one* Flair match that trumps anything Luger did with Flair. Luger was slightly more a victim of bad booking (maybe more than slightly) than Sting, but the overwhelming majority of fans saw Sting as the superior wrestler/entertainer than Luger anyway, but that was generally not workrate related. To me it though. I despise the way Luger did things in the ring. Like the walk-all-the-fucking-way-across-the-ring-with-his-hands-up-in-a-double-axe-handle-spot. Or his too loud screams of “pain”. Sting never did that kind of shit. Sting cleared rings in a brawling capacity that rivaled some of the best in the business. The measuring stick mostly for me is measuring the matches both had against similar opponents. Like Flair and Brian Pillman. Sting’s matches against them were better than Luger’s matches against them. Add in the Vader series and Nitro matches against Page and Benoit, Sting is clearly to me the better worker of the two.
  10. Granted, I never said the matches weren't good between the two of them, but they don't measure up to Eddy/Rey and in my mind, Psic/Rey. Basically they were a good Dean Malenko match but a bad Rey Misterio Jr match in 1996.
  11. Danke vielmals.
  12. Stories like that always make me question more than I probably should. When I had extensive surgery done on my arm to fix some tendons, I was in no shape to go anywhere and I doubt the doctors or nurses...let alone my significant other would have allowed me to do such a thing. Must have been one helluva cheeseburger though.
  13. So he wrestled on a prosthetic then?
  14. He was past his prime in the WWF? He was 29-30. Unless you're meaning that his problems had eroded his ability to the point that he was past his good days, which if that is the case, I agree with. Injuries bothered him too. Did Vince ever show any formal interest in Kerry (or any of the big World Class workers) during the territory raids? I hate to ask it, mostly because it seems so ridiculous, but what is the truth behind Kerry's foot?
  15. Can someone post a link for a video of the promos that happened on (last nights) Raw, please?
  16. Yeah, I knew about that. Had they been in talks with him prior to Cara's debut though?
  17. Agreed, actually. Dean was Rey's worst big name cruiserweight equivalent opponent in WCW. Dean grounded Rey too much, whereas Psicosis allowed Rey to do the stuff they had done around the globe the year prior. Sin Cara needs a Psicosis just like Rey did.
  18. Spike Dudley was awesome at getting the shit kicked out of him because he was so overwhelmingly small looking. The one against Mike Awesome in 2000 had some blurry lines in it though, reminiscent a midget tossing contest that has gotten real in a West Texas kind of way.
  19. I've never seen his name pop up in any notably singles matches either. IIRC, only six-man gaijin vs. native matches.
  20. Oxymore. Touche. But. I suspect that if HHH can have great WWE styled matches back in 2000, that CM Punk can have some in 2011.
  21. Punk and Cena went 26:00 on 7-5. I wonder if they were testing out the length the two of them could go together. I'm calling for a MOTYC between them at the PPV based off the house show report of how the match was - seemed like an excellent WWE main event styled match to me.
  22. It was interesting as hell because I didn't have a clue who the guy was. WCW debuted some cool talent in 2000. The Wall was my favorite; Vampiro was cool for a while and he actually got over as a face, and Mike Awesome was an incredible acquisition because I had already watched him on ECW destroying Masato Tanaka over the ECW Title, and in some of the best free television giveaway matches of all-time too.
  23. The DVDVR All Japan 1980s set covers the best matches as defined by the committee putting the set together. If you're a completeist, having the full TV season sets isn't a bad thing unless you're satisfied having a fifteen disc compilation that contains probably everything that was/is worthwhile from All Japan in the 80s. I have the 80s set but plan to also get the available TV sets sometime in the near future. I won't be happy until I have everything All Japan did from the 70s to the end of the 90s. Obviously some of the changes might be improved quality, but the main difference is the amount of matches gained from season sets over the 80s set. Most of the TV sets average something like 15 discs, and that's per year instead of a 15 disc set that spans a decade. I don't know about the match length stuff though, but someone like jdw or especially Ginnetty would know (since he is the guy that puts all of the TV sets together).
