Really? The sarcasm isn't obvious?

I think if Shelton were booked better he would have been one of the best, like top five best.

Tell-tale signs that a guy is past his prime

Windham is tough to pinpoint. His comeback after injuries in the early nineties was not good. But in 1999, he was awesome again. Weird. -

Bouncers. lol Dudes always knew when a bunch of Marines were comin'. Guess our haircuts gave it away. Anyway, they always started shit with us. Like if we yelled, like in a happy oorah kind of way, they would get all uppity on us. But I guess it was more like cause Marines partied like rock stars. Hotels and other establishments never recovered from our previous weekend tour of non-stop violence, sex, booze, and decompression from being an active duty Marine. -

I have always said that every point needs to celebrate points/goals like soccer players do. Even free throws or extra points. -

And when it gets exciting the players get reprimanded for it. -
Palm strikes, which I was trained to use in the Corps, are less dangerous than a knuckle sandwich, both for the striker and the strikee. However, palm strikes can easily break a wrist if not done properly. They can also kill people too. I've seen many Marines get knocked out cold from a palm strike. I have no problem with Liger using the shoetei. He makes it look more realistic than the thousands of haymaker punches that were thrown in say, Memphis. You'd think that after a while of someone giving away their punches over the years by winding their arm all the way back that the wrestlers would have learned to duck or at least cover their heads. While Liger is running at an opponent, they don't exactly know what's coming at them, hence they can't simply duck or cover their head. I mean, they *do* know what's coming, but we're not supposed to know that they know what's coming their way. As an aside, I think more realistic strikes are better than the obviously hokey strikes. In an entertainment field that has been gutted of its realism, making it look "real" is vastly better than, "Well, there was clearly some space between the punch and the dude's head...but he threw a nice punch anyway."

It could be my faulty memory, though. Maybe you're right.

... The early X-Division stuff was good. I have recently watched the Ki/Styles/Lynn feud again. Not superb juniors work by any means, but solid, respectable, and not downright embarrassing like most of it nowadays.

These reviews are rehashing a lot of memories. Man, Sting could have been severely injured or killed in some the stunts he performed. Attack dogs, lit on fire, fell from scaffolding, countless ceiling repels. He is lucky.

Russo would have jumped all over that if given the chance.

I can only imagine the verbal onslaught Shane was beaten with when he quit. I wouldn't put it past Vince to throw silly ultimatums at his own son. Ultimately I think there is more to this particular story that we'll only be able to speculate about, like if Steph and Hunter were involved at all.

Yeah, the IWC, man. We account for over 10% of the wrestling fanbase. Our fingers hurt after all of the angry blogs we were forced into typing out. The bastards.

Do or have any workers been punished by the NWA/WCW or WWF for manhandling the jobbers too hard? I know the Rockers and I think Vader got into a little trouble, but I don't recall how much or for how long. It seems like some particular workers were extra rough with the enhancement talent simply because they could and did it enough that it suggests that unless the worker was injured enough to sue, then it's all game.

I don't know of either man's personality all that much, but is that playful kidding or intended to be offensive on Steve's part?

The first problem is that an outside discussion is being brought up here. Some times its kosher, but that generally involves something more important than a 90s WWF tag team going against a TNA team. Dylan made the PG-13 thread in pursuit of getting more people to enrich their viewing priorities with a team he thought were not placed in fair enough light. Weigh this thread against that of Dylan's. What is the point you are trying to get across? What is your goal? Second problem is that you keep trying to measure pro wrestling in an almost scientific manner. There is no equation, man. None that exist and are universal, that is. I could only watch only Michael Jordan games and still say he is the greatest basketball player of all-time. Might be naive of me sure, but really, it isn't a subject worth a ton of effort and/or in-depth analysis. Third problem, which might not be the case at all, but times that I've seen cross threading going on, the member bringing it up is using what other members have said to further their argument at the other forum. Like I said though, might not be the case, I didn't even click on the link to check.

There is no doubt in my mind that Joe could have done as excellent a job as Jamal did playing Umaga. I can see the quiet stoic suplex machine working in the WWE for Joe, but not the savage island warrior gimmick.

Vince Russo was a first ballot Hall of Fame fuck up when employed by WCW. He destroyed the promotion I watched as a young child. His wickedness has only intensified over the past decade. There exists a particular circle of hell that houses men like Russo. The only problem being, he also qualifies for other circles too.

That reminds me of that Michael Moore film, but instead of airline pilots, it's pro wrestlers.

So besides WCW at different points, TNA is ran by non-wrestling personnel. I often think to myself, "How can I improve ____." I wonder if TNA management ever have that similar thought go through their minds? I mean, would any of the TNA management say, "We are a great wrestling company," and not be lying to themselves? The obvious answer to both of my questions is no, but I am more curious of what you guys think. At any rate, is TNA beyond saving at this point? Or has too much water gotten in over the sides and their buckets too small to make a difference?

TNA is one of the absolute worst wrestling promotions I have ever seen. Maybe even the worst. I just don't understand how they can look at their product and think it looks good. Kind of like a dude with a Nazi tattoo on his forehead thinking he looks hot. How Vince Russo is still employed is beyond me. How one of the wrestlers haven't suplexed him on the floor yet is also beyond my thinking capabilities. Seriously. How does that man have a job that probably pays him seven figures? Add in Bischoff, Hogan & Jeff Jarrett. Shit. The funny and sad thing is that the WWE could pop TNA like a bug if tomorrow they offered all TNA talent a contract. It'd be like the mass exodus All Japan got fucked with in 2000. Turner lost money with WCW for what, two, three years? TNA cannot be making Panda Energy very much money considering their buyrates and television ratings are abysmal for the "#2" wrestling promotion in America. I mean, they literally do not know how to book a wrestling promotion. My fiancee could do a better job than the combined efforts of the current management roster.
