vs. Andre 9/23/81 w/ Gordy vs. Tenryu & Kawada 12/16/88 vs. Kawada 2/28/93 vs. Kobashi 7/29/93 Those are the top four Hansen matches that I've seen. There is a few good-great vs. Misawa matches, notably 8/22/92 and IIRC 5/21/93. I love the 3/4/95 TC match against Kawada more than most as well. vs. Kobashi during the carny in both '93 and '94 are great matches.

I remember the cinderblock incident. I wonder who they thought would buy Austin being able to compete after having his leg "smashed". I'm a big supporter of the police departments around the nation, but that is generally two of the three distinct types of cops around.

Yeah, both WCW and the WWF had a hard time with angles involving moving machinery. I'm sure Lawler could have helped them a little with that though.

Racism is one of those things that will never go away.

Naive business people, probably. I found the spit bucket thing funny (is that really true, seems rather odd). Because if that were the case, then ROH would never make money running in New York and never would again after the first time. How in the hell did Heyman run in New York? Those numbers gotta be wrong somehow. More for ROH than ECW because Heyman probably bribed officials by offering up his roadies. -
I really cannot envision a man not using some type of painkiller while being a professional wrestler. I give Punk kudos if he has or is doing that. He is recklessly stupid while at the same time being one of the bravest dudes I can think of. Because it's only a matter of time when, not if, that you will get injured while taking bumps that way Punk does. Like that 55 minute tables and ladder match he had against Hero in IWA-MS. Like he didn't get hurt at all during that match. Like his back wasn't killing him the next day. It just blows my mind that he wouldn't pop some Tylenol the next day or later that same night, cause I would. Sorry, just boggles my mind, man.

Well, to be fair, Danielson has not been handled that well. Many would say his constant one-sided beatdowns by the Miz when Miz was champion was a good thing. But I'm not among that consensus. Though, maybe his bookings haven't been quite as bad as my bias has told me it was. I mean, it's no secret that Vince has never done great for his non-home grown talent like he has for his actual built-up workers. Hogan, Rock, HBK, Taker, Hart, Cena, Austin, Foley, Hunter, Orton, Batista, Edge, Savage, Warrior vs. Punk, Booker T, Eddy, Chris', Danielson, Malenko, Shamrock, RVD, Goldberg, Flair, Vader, Steiner Brothers -
I don't see how equal rights can be given to accredit that though, Jingus. I mean, are we putting all of the eggs in the basket here, like carrying the baby for a fucking long time, or just basic DNA/babies color, sex, etc? Cause under the latter, equal rights cannot be fairly given. One sex, the male sex being it is the one that carries that victory by a large margin. Like I said, the answer is in the sperm.

I don't get the joke, but that's not what I'm responding to anyway. I've recently lost my mother to an injury caused over three years ago. She was a mother, not a mom. There is a difference between the two. I know and see moms all the time but very few real mothers anymore. Moms = baby factories to me anyway. What's wrong with that? I mean, deep down at the furthest roots of our being, reproduction remains the #1 purpose of our species.

Of all the feminist groups you could've chosen for your joke here, that particular one is a strange way to go, considering they're all about pacifism and we're talking about rassling. You're being a tad too sensitive, eh? Not sure what that means, but to me the answer is in the sperm.

I disagree with this. I mean, clearly marijuana is not as bad as alcohol or tobacco. I don't see anyone MADD about marijuana. I have never seen a flash mob do a demonstration about weed either. The thing is, and my interpretation of why drugs are illegal, is because so many of our leaders have too large of an age difference to the generations they are leading. Plus, they would have to find a way to tax the salt out of marijuana (using MJ as an example). And they don't like change all that much. Drugs like cocaine, speed, heroine, meth, and a variety of pill based narcotics are the types of drugs that make it easier to understand the illegal aspect and legal ramifications of possession/delivery. But then alcohol and tobacco should be on the black list of controlled substances as well, since both drugs kill more Americans than all of those other drugs combined - probably twenty times over a year with all things considered (auto fatalities, cancer, suicide, general accidents). The American government have since taken proactive steps into making the nation healthier over the years. It usually ends up as, "Good initiative, but, bad judgment," though. Like dumping fluoride into the drinking water to keep our teeth cleaner for instance. Or public schools around the nation having taken similar steps to limit the amount of junk/fatty foods children are consuming during the school day. People have seemingly forgotten that their bodies are their temples and treat it like shit for many years up to and including breaking it to a permanent basis. It is no surprise that the government and taxpayers alike have started programs to rid the other half of our country from all of the bad habits that cost billions of dollars annually in health care costs. Someone has to give a shit even if it wouldn't be classified as a moral intervention. Straight Edge followers (is that the right word to use?) really think that taking pain medication = less manliness? Shit. I must be a ginormous pansy man then. I'm not afraid of pain but I don't particularly enjoy its embrace all that much. The things people believe in and follow, man. Could a straight edge person be classified as a borderline masochist (not meaning in a sexual sense or even in an enjoyment sense whatsoever, but in the sense that they will endure excruciating physical duress and not prevent and/or stop their suffering when a remedy to end that suffering exists)?

I know Sami can take a beating. I've seen the stuff with him on the MOTYC sets. But...Finlay encapsulates a different kind of ass beating. I feel a little bit of worry for Finlay too. The dude is not a spring chicken anymore. He might push things a little too far and get injured himself. -

Yeah. I learned that after viewing the match for myself. A very random TC match for sure. -

I remember being excited to see Barry challenge Jumbo for the TC a few years back. I was disappointed by the end result, though. A potential MOTYC was replaced by a throwaway neat looking match instead. -

Sami is probably excited to face Finlay, and will be after the match too. But I'm guessing once the adrenaline rush has ended is when Callihan will feel the effects of a strong style match against one of the toughest wrestlers ever. -
There have been Abraham Washington and Black Jesus, though.

John is enjoying messing with you (and me), which he already messes with me enough by knowing soooo much about wrestling, especially puro and lucha related tidbits. I grew up on the Internet reading his DVDVR pimping posts. My initial wrestling want lists were created from those posts. Yeah, just a casual fan, eh?

I cannot believe I forgot Clive Myers. His match against Steve Grey might be the best WOS match of all-time. While it is the only WOS I have ever seen, my brain cannot fathom any other match from that promotion ever topping that particular November 1975 match between them. Hence my excitement for the England 80s DVDVR set. I won't go too far into yet another Marine story, but one of my better friends in the Corps was a black guy from North Carolina. He always insisted he was a better worker than Ric Flair. I always found that interesting. If Flair were black, would he still be the Flair we know today? I mean, in other sports athletic ability transcended the race barrier in the 70s when Flair first broke into the business. Flair really broke out in the 80s when the race barrier was further pushed back. Could working quality outshine racism in America in the 1980s to a Flair like level?

People would literally die from that. And by people I mean wrestling fans.
-
That is a bad talking point. Well, the person taking the enzuguri probably thinks it's bad because he is seeing stars afterward. Tenryu's enzuguri looks sloppy about half the time, but the blunt force trauma is never suspect.
-
Probably a multitude of reasons, really. Racism is definitely on the list of reasons why black wrestlers haven't had an equal cup of success in wrestling. I think the racism extends just as much to the fans as it does/did to promoters and workers alike. The ladder of superstardom is not as easily attained in professional wrestling as it is in other sports, like the aforementioned baseball, football, and basketball.

To be fair, I think the percentage of fans like us is still comparatively low to people who just "read about wrestling". The casual fan does not own hundreds or thousands of DVDs, and before that the same number of VHS tapes. I doubt the casual fan would pay the insane prices for Observer or Torch subscriptions. I mean, unless there are hundreds/thousands of die hard wrestling fans that do not post on message boards (of any kind), then I guess I just don't believe the smart fan (fans like the majority of us here) population to be that great.
