Heh, all i'll say is i'm just amused that you wanted/exspected the pay off after only watching 2 previous Bull matches on the set and this being maybe 2 months into the Bull/Aja feud which lasted a good 2 & 1/2 years roughly.

FINALLY watched this today & I have to agree with the above. It's a match that's always had a strong rep among joshi fans and I started out thinking "boy this isn't living up to the hype" early on and ended up thinking "fuck this exceded the hype" by the end.

ConvertXtoDVD is a really great one and what I always used. It would ocassionally convert the flv files at a weird frame rate but there were ways around that and I think newer versions of the program might not have this issue (The one I used was several years old as I rarely even watch DVDs on any device besides my computer anymore)
-
Nope, no toolbar or anything like that is required for keepvid. I've used the website for years and never had any issues. If you've never used the website before it will give you a msg asking you to allow a java update or something along those lines but it's harmless and doesn't change/install anything to your browser or system. After that, you just paste the link into the box at the top of the page, click download and it gives you the links to download the files which you can either direct save or paste into a download manager. I had good luck with a program called "FLV converter".

Other Must Have stuff NEO 5/6/1998 (TWF Title) Kyoko Inoue © vs Lioness Asuka JD 8/2/1998 (Aired 10/17) (TWF Title) Lioness Asuka © vs Kyoko Inoue Things I haven't seen but PUNQ has highly rated (around 4* & up) NEO 1/9/1998 Mima Shimoda, Etsuko Mita & Saya Endo vs Kyoko Inoue, Chapparita Asari & Yoshiko Tamura 2/15/1998 Hikari Fukuoka vs Kyoko Inoue 2/25/1998 Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita vs Kyoko Inoue & Genki Misae LLPW 2/15/1998 Shinobu Kandori, Rumi Kazama & Yasha Kurenai vs Eagle Sawai, Michiko Nagashima & Sayori Okino AJW 12/26/1998 Mima Shimoda, Etsuko Mita & Kyoko Inoue vs Manami Toyota, Yumiko Hotta & Takako Inoue
-
I'd add these two as absolute must haves AJW 7/10/1999 (3WA Tag Titles, 2 out of 3 Falls) ZAP T (Tomoko Watanabe) & ZAP I (Kaoru Ito) © vs Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita ARSION 4/14/1999 Candy Okutsu & Ai Fujita vs Ayako Hamada & Mika Akino Yoshida didn't wrestle Omukai at the 5/4 show, the other Yoshida match that needs to be included from this card is vs Hiromi Yagi. Haven't seen but looking through PUNQ's list he has these very highly rated from 1999 NEO - 1/4/1999 Kyoko Inoue & Genki Misae vs Yumiko Hotta & Nanae Takahashi NEO - 7/4/1999 Kyoko Inoue vs ZAP I (Kaoru Ito) LLPW - 3/10/1999 Yasha Kurenai, Noriyo Tateno, Harley Saito & Rumi Kazama vs Manami Toyota, Takako Inoue, Momoe Nakanishi & Kumiko Maekawa IF room needs to be made to fit the above on then i'd cut any of these, otherwise i'd say keep all 3 Hikari Fukuoka & Mikiko Futagami vs Aja Kong & Candy Okutsu (ARSION 03/16/99) The Bloody & Fang Suzuki vs Sumie Sakai & Megumi Yabushita (Jd' 09/05/99) Lioness Asuka vs Cooga (Jd' 12/28/99)
-
Brodie Lee maybe? If you're talented, willing to be content with your slot on the card & don't cause much trouble then you can last quite a long time in WWE as a bottom of the barrel guy.

[1990-12-09-AJW] Aja Kong & Bison Kimura vs Akira Hokuto & Suzuka Minami
FLIK replied to Loss's topic in December 1990
This show only exist in HEAVILY edited form via a recent AJW classics airing (which is why I never bothered to get around to buying it). AJW was uaully always very good at editing their tv in a way to whear you couldn't tell if you didn't allready know. About 9 mins airs of this & AJW never booked tag title matches less then 20. Also note, only 7 mins airs of Bull vs Kyoko & Only 4 mins of Toyota/Yamada vs Mita/Shimoda- 8 replies

I have Jungle Jack vs Esther & Toyota tag title match as my #1 joshi match in 91 and I had Esther #7 on my top 10 list for that year & wrote this in my year end recap Her sister Cynthia is also really damn good but Esther was the star of that team. Hell, all the Moreno family rules, Alda, Rossy, thier brother Oriental. As for other reccomendations, I allready talked about the Honey Wings (Kaoru & Takahashi) vs Xochitl Hamada & Esther series in the 90 re-watch/1st time viewing thread & the 11/14 8 woman elimination match. These are also worth tracking down as far as her work from this era goes 5/26/1991 Kyoko Inoue & Debbie Malenko vs Mariko Yoshida & Esther Moreno 6/18/1991 Takako Inoue, Mariko Yoshida & Manami Toyota vs Esther Moreno, Cynthia Moreno & Mika Takahashi 8/2/1991 (AJW Tag Titles) Cynthia Moreno & Esther Moreno © vs Takako Inoue & Mariko Yoshida Esther was around forever in joshi though & pops up lots of places. Late 80's original JWP, mid 90's JWP & JD, early days of ARSION, etc...

[1990-11-14-AJW-Wrestlemarinepiad] Aja Kong vs Bull Nakano (Cage)
FLIK replied to Loss's topic in November 1990
At it's heart the feud was always about both Aja & Bison, along with their new crew trying to take down Bull & her gang. Aja vs Bull individually was just the centerpiece of it.- 15 replies

Well, yes & no. Again for me the story is that even with all the tension going into the match, once things actually got going they were fine....until they weren't That & Yamada not seeing Hokuto kick out is why they could win the 1st fall.

Hmmm, narrowing things down to JUST in ring (which leaves out a lot of what makes GAEA special) then this would be the list of top matches Feel fairly confident in these as the top 3 9/15/1999 (3AW Title) Aja Kong © vs Meiko Satomura 4/4/1999 KAORU & Toshiyo Yamada vs Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita 1/30/1999 Lioness Asuka & Mayumi Ozaki vs Toshiyo Yamada & Kaoru Then these would round out the top 20 or so in some order 1/30/1999 Meiko Satomura vs Chikayo Nagashima 2/21/1999 Meiko Satomura vs Toshie Uematsu 3/18/1999 Aja Kong & Carlos Amano vs Toshiyo Yamada & Meiko Satomura 3/18/1999 Mayumi Ozaki vs Mima Shimoda 3/30/1999 Aja Kong & Chikayo Nagashima vs Sonoko Kato & Meiko Satomura 4/4/1999 Meiko Satomura & Sonoko Kato vs Aja Kong & Mayumi Ozaki 4/4/1999 (For Control of GAEA) Chigusa Nagayo vs Lioness Asuka 5/20/1999 Lioness Asuka, Mayumi Ozaki & Mima Shimoda vs Kaoru, Sonoko Kato & Meiko Satomura 6/19/1999 (3AW Title) Chigusa Nagayo © vs Aja Kong 8/12/1999 (3AW Tag Titles) Aja Kong & Mayumi Ozaki © vs Sugar Sato & Chikayo Nagashima 9/8/1999 Aja Kong, Mayumi Ozaki & Akira Hokuto vs Chigusa Nagayo, Toshiyo Yamada & Meiko Satomura 9/15/1999 Akira Hokuto & Mayumi Ozaki vs Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita 9/15/1999 (For Control of Gaea) Chigusa Nagayo vs Lioness Asuka 11/23/1999 Kaoru & Meiko Satomura vs Lioness Asuka & Sonoko Kato 12/28/1999 (GAEA vs Nostradomous Gauntlet Match)
-
At the start of the match they were on the same page or atleast not at each others throats. They put their diffrences aside enough to attempt to win the titles, thus they won the 1st fall, were doing well until in the 2nd Kyoko accidently nails Toyota with a chair causing them to lose that fall then Toyota gets pissed about it and their team work falls apart in the 3rd so they lose the match.

Out of curiosity, anyone have any memories/thoughts on the 99 IWA Puerto Rico jr title tournament? It was super stacked, Tajiri, Crazy, Taka, Christopher Daniels, Great Sasuke, Tiger Mask 4, Alexander Otsuka, Reckless Youth, Mr Aguila, Jeff Hardy, Pablo Marquez & a few local guys. It's prob been over a decade since i've watched it so my only real memory is that most of it was actually super disapointing for a number of reasons (bad booking, weird finishes, guys getting short amounts of time) but that there were maybe 1 or 2 good matches that came out of it, I just can't remember which ones they were. It was talked about a ton at the time. Not just GAEA/joshi but a lot of the non mainstream stuff (IE not NJPW, AJPW, WWF, WCW & ECW). That you don't see as much talk today is a combination of many of the fans who were around at the time having moved on & many of the places whear it was talked about (Crazy Max forum, Smarks Choice, Older DVDVR forum, etc...) all getting deleted over time with no archive remaining & the "tape review website" era coming to an end. So now we're kinda in this unique phase whear the fans that are around now get to re-discover these things
-
Their 89 match finished pretty high on the original DVDVR best of 80's WWF set too.

Okay, so, GAEA in 1999, the best year from the best joshi promotion ever in my opinion, what's to say. Not everyone will share the greatest ever opinion I know but at the least for 1999 itself almost everyone at the time would agree GAEA was #1 & those that wouldn't would probably say ARSION was, the AJWs & JWPs had lost their place at the top of the food chain by now. The matches *Note* I'm listing most of these by the date the tv aired, too lazy to go back & insert the taping date but all occured in 99 1/30/1999 (Premium League Tournament) Meiko Satomura vs Chikayo Nagashima 1/30/1999 Lioness Asuka & Mayumi Ozaki vs Toshiyo Yamada & Kaoru - Lioness first match in the promotion, great match, crazy spectacle, famous for KAORU getting hung from the balcony 2/21/1999 (Premium League FINAL) Meiko Satomura vs Toshie Uematsu 2/21/1999 Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita vs Toshiyo Yamada & Sonoko Kato 2/21/1999 Mayumi Ozaki & Lioness Asuka vs Kaoru & Meiko Satomura 2/21/1999 Chigusa Nagayo & Toshie Uematsu vs Aja Kong & Chikayo Nagashima - Only goes 7 seconds but there's a huge post match GAEA vs SSU pull apart brawl 3/18/1999 Aja Kong & Carlos Amano vs Toshiyo Yamada & Meiko Satomura (OZ Academy Show) 3/18/1999 Mayumi Ozaki vs Mima Shimoda (OZ Academy Show) 3/30/1999 Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita vs Toshiyo Yamada & Meiko Satomura 3/30/1999 Aja Kong & Chikayo Nagashima vs Sonoko Kato & Meiko Satomura 3/30/1999 Aja Kong & Lioness Asuka vs Sonoko Kato & Meiko Satomura 4/4/1999 KAORU & Toshiyo Yamada vs Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita - A divisive match, really famous at the time, ppl either thought it was the greatest thing ever or hated it, I fall on the positive side. 4/4/1999 Meiko Satomura & Sonoko Kato vs Aja Kong & Mayumi Ozaki - Meiko pins Aja 4/4/1999 (For Control of GAEA) Chigusa Nagayo vs Lioness Asuka - Lioness wins controll of the company for SSU 5/5/1999 Sugar Sato, Kaori Nakayama & Mayumi Ozaki vs Toshie Uematsu, Sonoko Kato & Toshiyo Yamada (This is from FMW's show and I think I allready mentioned it in my FMW pimping but i'm mentioning it again here since it fits) 5/20/1999 Chigusa Nagayo vs Kaori Nakayama & 5/20/1999 Lioness Asuka vs Sonoko Kato - included as a pair, Chigusa wins in 35 seconds, Lioness upstages her by winning in 32. I thought it was a cool angle. 5/20/1999 Lioness Asuka, Mayumi Ozaki & Mima Shimoda vs Kaoru, Sonoko Kato & Meiko Satomura 6/19/1999 (3AW Title) Chigusa Nagayo © vs Aja Kong - Aja wins the title 7/17/1999 Chigusa Nagayo vs Etsuko Mita - A dejected Chigusa left the country to go on a training mission to Venice Beach california whear she drops a ton of weight & gets in great shape. This is her return match whear she comes in & destroys Mita. 8/12/1999 (3AW Tag Titles) Aja Kong & Mayumi Ozaki © vs Sugar Sato & Chikayo Nagashima - Great match, great moment. Sato & Nagashima win the titles & from their mentor Ozaki a year after her & Aja beat them for them. Post match a Akira Hokuto makes her return from having her 1st kid to rejoin Ozaki & crew. 9/8/1999 Lioness Asuka vs Sonoko Kato - Kato turns her back on GAEA post match to join Lioness as her protoge. 9/8/1999 Aja Kong, Mayumi Ozaki & Akira Hokuto vs Chigusa Nagayo, Toshiyo Yamada & Meiko Satomura 9/9/1999 (For Control of GAEA) Mima Shimoda, Etsuko Mita & Lioness Asuka vs Aja Kong, Mayumi Ozaki & Sugar Sato (OZ Academy Show) - After Hokuto returned, most of SSU split away to form Nostradomous, tiring of Lioness leadership leaving Kato & LCO as her only allies. OZ & pals try a coup d'etat here. 9/15/1999 Sakura Hirota vs Devil Masami - Hirota comedy matches were a HUGE part of the promotion starting in 99 so should be represented in some way and this was always a favorite of many ppl. 9/15/1999 Akira Hokuto & Mayumi Ozaki vs Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita 9/15/1999 (3AW Title) Aja Kong © vs Meiko Satomura 9/15/1999 (For Control of Gaea) Chigusa Nagayo vs Lioness Asuka - Chigusa wins control back of the company 10/21/1999 Chigusa Nagayo, Toshiyo Yamada, Kaoru & Meiko Satomura vs Lioness Asuka, Mima Shimoda, Etsuko Mita & Sonoko Kato - Final match of LCO's run, they wouldn't return to the company for another 2 years. Lioness is left with Kato as her only remaining ally. 10/21/1999 Mayumi Ozaki & Akira Hokuto vs Lioness Asuka & Sonoko Kato 11/23/1999 Meiko Satomura vs Saika Takeuchi - Saika Takeuchi who was the focus of the GAEA Girls documentry debut match 11/23/1999 (High Spurt 600 Finals) Sonoko Kato vs Meiko Satomura 11/23/1999 Mayumi Ozaki & Akira Hokuto vs Chigusa Nagayo & Toshiyo Yamada 11/23/1999 Kaoru & Meiko Satomura vs Lioness Asuka & Sonoko Kato 11/23/1999 Sonoko Kato vs Chigusa Nagayo 12/28/1999 (GAEA vs Nostradomous Gauntlet Match - Losers get handcuffed for the winners to beat on) Chigusa Nagayo, Sakura Hirota, Kaoru, Toshie Uematsu, Meiko Satomura & Toshiyo Yamada vs Aja Kong, Mayumi Ozaki, Kaori Nakayama, Akira Hokuto, Sugar Sato & Chikayo Nagashima. Team GAEA wins but RIE/Bad Nurse Nakamura brings out Saika Takeuchi wraped in barbed & holds her hostage to force them to let the heels go. Oh and Takeuchi's parents are in the crowd too and try to save her but they get kicked away. 1/3/2000 (Taped 12/27/99) Chigusa Nagayo & Meiko Satomura vs Lioness Asuka & Sonoko Kato - A match that I still wish to this day they'd have let go longer as we basically get the first 7 mins of a 20+ min 4 star plus match but then Nostradomous runs in to beat up both teams and a huge brawl breaks out. The aftermath leads to the short lived but awesome Team Dead or Alive forming with Aja & Kaoru taking sides with Lioness & Kato and more importantly it sets the stage for the Crush Girls reuinion as they temp join forces to fight ppl off and bust out a few of their old double team moves n shit. This match sets the stage for 2000 The Story Obviously the big thing to capture for the year is the entire angle with SSU - Super Stars Unit which consisted of Lioness, Ozaki, Aja, Mita, Shimoda, Nagashima, Sato & Kaori Nakayama. Most of the big details I covered above with them coming in, taking over, falling apart due to infighting then losing the power they gained. It's sorta comparable to the NWO if the NWO wasn's stretched out for eternity and got payed off with the good guys winning. Besides that there's lots of other cool stories througout the year. LCO vs Kaoru/Yamada The remaining trainees getting major wins over established stars and being cemented at a lvl whear you can take them seriously as consistent threats & not just youngetrs getting occasional upsets. The origins of the Meiko vs Aja feud which is still going on to this day 14 years later.

Mike Modest vs Christopher Daniels (APW 01/15/99) - Keep for sure Low-Ki vs Mike Quackenbush (FWA 11/20/99) - Easy cut, just an average match I'd add this from CZW 10/16/1999 (Cage of Death) Justice Pain vs Lobo - More for historical context then anything. CoD is always a huge draw by indy standards and this was the first one. One I don't think has been mentioned i'd also add Michinoku Pro 5/9/1999 Christopher Daniels & Pablo Marquez vs Magnum Tokyo & Kendo
-
Actually I think the entire point was that they did want ppl to know since they're pissed at Blue Demon and wanted to rub it in his face. He allready has had a few heart attacks in the past
-
Hisakatsu Oya vs Jado (Fuyuki-Gun Tokyo 02/19/98) - Cut, solid match, nothing special, only 6 mins airs. Yukihiro Kanemura & Mr. Gannosuke vs Koji Nakagawa & Tetsuhiro Kuroda (Fuyuki-Gun Tokyo 02/19/98) - Finish for sure, although it's short so i'd try to keep the whole thing. The important part is the big angle at the end with Go-Ito. Hayabusa vs Ricky Fuyuki (Fuyuki-Gun Tokyo 02/19/98) - Lumberjack match, really good, keep if there's room. Masato Tanaka & Hisakatsu Oya vs Hayabusa & Ricky Fuyuki (ZEN Chiba 02/13/98) - Really good match but something i'd reccomend more for the additional viewing thread then the yearbook proper. Atsushi Onita, Koji Nakagawa & Tetsuhiro Kuroda vs Yukihiro Kanemura, Gado & Mr. Gannosuke (ZEN Chiba 02/13/98) - Good match and the angle at the end with Go-Ito here sets up the payoff on the 2/19 show. Keep. The big feud at the time was FMW home team vs Atsushi Onita's ZEN group vs The recently formed Team No Respect so that's how these offshoot shows came about (or atleast ZEN's, Fuyuki was occasionally running his own side stuff anyways)
-
APW 7/18/1997 (Falls Count Anywhear) Vic Grimes vs Erin O' Grady This is the one whear Grimes gets hit with the car, really famous match at the time & the one Cornette saw that got them their WWF tryout that led to both getting signed.
-
Pretty much all the OMEGA i'd include Never seen but knowing those 2 I don't doubt it was atleast very good. Thompson is high on the list of lost great workers from the late 90's/early 2000's. The story goes that Heyman offered to bring him in to ECW be a part of the Gangstas but Thompson didn't want to move his family/be away from them (I forget). He never had the look to be on WWF & WCWs radar either and he was starting to wind down just as the post ROH super indy boom hit so he never was able to get the fame he deserved outside of the west coast and those that followed the sceen back then. Real good match but i'd cut it because there's better stuff out thear. From APW i'd include this one for sure 9/12/1998 Christopher Daniels & Micael Modest vs Erin O Grady & Suicde Kid This is famous for being the match they aired parts of during Beyond the Mat but even without that it was a great match that i'd reccomend. 2/14/1998 Reckless Youth vs Devon Storm Just a great great match & a perfect representation of the indy style at the time. No clue what fed it's from other then it was an NWA show so I dunno if that'll be much help when it comes to finding a copy but if you can i'd include it for sure.
-
Here's a Reckless vs Montoya match from 1/17/97 that Dave Prazak uploaded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yF9Q_h5UUk Haven't had a chance to watch it yet but it seems like something worth checking out atleast
-
Not a "must have" lvl match but I thought it was really good. Should be noted that Misawa decided he was too cool for school and refused to re-don the hood to be a part of this so TM2 is played by a very young Yoshinobu Kanemaru instead. Great Sasuke doing the Black Tiger gimmick is is the special guest ref

I uploaded this one online a while ago. Awesome match and for sure a must have for the yearbook i'd say. Dylan reviewed it earlier in the thread
