So the draft order is continuous across each month?
-
Right that's totally fair. I thought you were talking about September draft.
-
Yeah that Awa coming back in was an infraction. I play euro games, I play by rules and expect them to be fair. What's all this "if you take two you're at the back" stuff. Why? You passed, what do you care who anyone else takes?
-
Right but the deal I just made with him to bring in Jyd on 8/16 is binding.
-
No people came in and all sorts.
-
Don't see why there should be a penalty for other people's profulgency. My tactics have been consistently punished because people want to pass on talent and then stop other people from having it? Totally bizarre. Pass and stay out or pick and move on. What is all this?
-
I am not passing and have been in this spot before where guys want to have their cake (passing, leaving draft) and eat it (prevent whoever is left from hoovering up talent). Someone PM ded.

Watching this again, it's amazing how red and puffed up with excess DiBiase's face was in 1988. He really is the picture of sick 80s consumption gone over the top. Still think it is a great promo and one of his better ones ever.

Will's parody of Melzter's tastes and writing style is really well observed. Especially the bit where he starts comparing Brody and Hansen. -
The WWF have announced a deal with ICW to bring in Randy Savage for 7 dates with Andre going the other way for 7 dates. He is due to come in on the 8/3 TV tapings and will work Tuesdays for the next 6 weeks after.

I've been planning to sit down and read all the threads at some point. Should get to it sometime this week.
-
Save it for someone who cares.

He's history.

Phil Zacko sits down in the small room that Vince Sr is using as his office at the Empire Hotel. Gorilla Monsoon is also there, along with Vince Jr, Mike Le Bell, and Larry Matysik. Vince Sr: Shut the door junior, you never know who's snooping for those sheets. I've been getting real tired recently. Things feel different around here. Toots been gone a long time. Arnie ain't here. Willie, God bless him it's been five years. We're a dying breed gentlemen. * Senior shuffles a roll of coins in his hand* Vince Sr: We're a dying breed. Now let's get down to things. Mike, we were set to run San Jose and Phoenix on that loop, but we ended up running Ohio, how come? Mike La Bell: The lady who runs the dates looks like she sent us the August shows, we'll run next two weeks. That alright Larry? Larry M: Sure, we just run a show where Bruiser Brody caught a fireball in the face, tore the house down in Cleveland. But Harley Race vs. Mil didn't get over, couldn't hear a pin drop. It would have gone down better in St. Louis. But gate did 3,000. Vince Sr.: Alright, what else we got. Zacko: Johnstown 2,670. Monsoon: Boston did great, over 10,000. Zacko: There is one thing. Boss, this fucking Joe Blanchard been putting word out he ain't happy you no no'd Steamboat taking on that Ron Starr guy. Monsoon: Would you listen to this? Give me a break. Zacko: Word is he's demanding an answer and wants to pull the Apollo kid from the youth deal. Vince Sr.: What business is it of Blanchard's who I book against my champions? Zacko: I dunno boss, he's taken it real personal. Vince Jr.: Can I say something? *The entire room turns and looks at Vince Jr as if he never speaks in these meetings* Vince Sr.: Not now Vinnie. Look we got to get back to business here. What is this Blanchard thing? Zacko: He's kicking up some kind of stink. Vince Sr.: Alright, we can't do business with a guy like that he's not stable. Send the Apollo kid home tomorrow. He won't set foot in New York, Philly, Boston, LA or any of these places again if he's still working for Blanchard. Monsoon: Give me a break, this Blanchard, what's his game? Remember we got his kid coming in to do a run with Backlund. Vince Sr.: Not any more. Send word the run is through. Cancel the dates on Andre. We can't work with offices who don't understand how this business is run. We got no time for this nonsense. Blanchard's guys don't work my towns again, you understand? Fucking cow boys and Indians down there. Zacko: Alright, what we doing for the Philly show in August ... *They continue the meeting*

Vince McMahon Sr would like to call an emergency meeting of the NWA board to discuss how best to deal with the recent outbreak of the "dirt sheets" running rampant in the industry. He also suggests that Verne Gange should be invited to this meeting.
-
It's "the boys" putting the word out there. So I'd imagine it like news going word of mouth.
-
After Bob Backlund discovered Bruiser Brody reading a so-called "dirt sheet" after his match on Friday night, he reported it to a furious Vince McMahon Sr. Vince Sr. has put his son, Vincent Kennedy McMahon in charge of a "putch" against the dirt shirts. All workers who are on WWF shows have been told they will be fined on the spot their appearance fee if they are caught reading a "dirt sheet". Repeat offenders will be fired and banned from working in New York ever again. Apparently Vince McMahon Sr. has vowed that if anyone is ever discovered to have been leaking information to the dirt sheets, he will see to it personally that he is blacklisted from every promotion in the USA. Long-time WWF stalwart Baron Scicluna said that he has never seen Vince Sr. as angry and Vince Jr. looks to be taking on the responsibility of enforcing this policy with relish.

If it's July 26th, I'll send Larry Zbyskzo. Should involve Larry Z bloodying Steamer with a chair and pinning him only for a second referee to come out and reverse the decision. Feud is ongoing so commentators could reference that.
-
Any of the following acceptable: Greg Valentine Rick Martel Ivan Koloff Wahoo McDaniel Jesse Ventura Rocky Johnson Killer Khan What is the date of the show?
-
It's actually quite surprising how the MASTER of backstage politics and image preservation could fuck up quite so badly.
-
Hold on. You will not be giving Starr a shot at the IC title. Steamboat needs a higher calibre of opponent if he's going to go up there.

WWF @ Johnstown, PA - Cambria County War Memorial Arena - July 18, 1983. The Animals (Steele and Luke Graham) defeated Steve King and “The Duke of Dorchester” Pete Doherty in 6:42. Dominic Denucci defeated Blackjack Lanza in 7:40 with an airplane spin after some miscommunication between Lanza and his manager Bobby Heenan WWF Tag Team Champions Jack and Jerry Brisco defeated Gene and Lars Anderson by DQ after Arn and Ole Anderson interfered in 14:00. After the match Jerry Brisco was "hung, drawn and quartered" by The Andersons while Jack Brisco was knocked out. The match was wrestling two out of three falls with the time expiring at one fall a piece. In the first, Mascaras

Also, they can try to push the Legend of Stone Cold or the Legend of HBK as much as they want. To the vast majority of the world, Hogan is still their biggest star. He was almost on par with Molly Ringwald in the 80s for God's sake.
