In this episode: Chad recounts the memories of his father- and brother-in-law of being at The Omni half of Starrcade 85 and talks about the importance of the Omni to the Atlanta area in general, the gradual transition from Charlotte to Atlanta of JCP / WCW, Sam Houston: stupidest babyface we’ve seen so far?, Brian explains how baldness can make you — or at least Barry Darsow — look bigger, Parv can’t substantiate the rumour that the ring announcer at The Omni is former AWA play-by-play man Rodger Kent, Manny Fernandez’s wild delusions of grandeur, Parv rants about Paul Jones’s lack of managerial acumen, and the missed opportunities of Buddy Landel’s career.

Having seen quite a lot of the Boogie Woogie man from around 84-5 recently, he needs more play in this thread. Especially after he lost weight a bit. I mean look at the bloody state of him:

What arenas would you consider to be in the GOAT conversation? Mid-South Coliseum? The Dallas Sportatorium? The Omni? MSG? Philadelphia Spectrum? Tokyo Dome? Tokyo Korakuen Hall? Budokan Hall? Rosemont Horizon? Greensboro Coliseum? errrr ... Caesar's Palace? Difficult to know what the criteria would be aside from "how many great nights did it host" and "historical importance". I don't think this is a lock for MSG, not at all. Interested to hear people put cases forward for different places.

This is properly fascinating. Really interesting how the NWA champ wasn't a big deal or draw in Montreal. Also Bravo as top 5 -- why?! What did they see in him? Only an hour or so in but this is great. Dylan - listen to the last Flairchop podcast if you can, thing and Blackwell related on there after the Hansen-Andre review. Very funny stuff.
