Is that buddy match the January 1980 one?

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

I read some of the names rumored to be at the latest WWE tryouts and the ones that stood out were Adam Cole, callihan, and del sol. I've seen the first two but I've only heard if del sol haven't seen him despite hearing good things. Does anyone know about him? Any matches to watch? -
I loved his renaissance run in wcw. His matches in 98 against booker really stood out and that wasn't easy to do with such a stacked undercard. I think he surprised everyone with how much be had in him at that point, too bad that knee injury derailed it.
-
Yea its not even close. If its in ring talent alone its colt in a landslide.
-
You could also ask him about the final episode of Nitro and working with Arn during the whole Invasion stuff. Also if he was really big into wrestling you could ask him how much better it was to see announce good wrestling matches on the C shows like saturday night opposed to the crap that was on Nitro and Thunder at the time
-
I'd be all for that but who do you turn face? Unless you have Mcmahon or Triple H hire Henry to beat Lesnars ass. I'd love to see two monster atheltic freaks like that at Mania but sadly we'll probably get Lesnar v HHH especially since Trips will want to be in front of that MSG crowd to have another "moment"
-
Is this the start of the PWO podcast?
-
Yea and then win MITB if they have it and beat John Cena and The Rock in a triple threat to unify the titles
-
I hope hes not on the way out though. He still has a few years of being great in him, maybe two or three
-
yea his used to be my favorite podcast but i'm starting to like MLW and P2B more now. Konnan usually doesnt hold back with the questions and specifically tells people not to blue ball the audience.
-
Yea that'd be good too but i couldnt see it either. Him smack talking Ryback would be cool to see though. On a side note i remember a few years ago when there was a rumor of Henry leading a new Nation faction. This could have been someone just bullshitting but i think it would be cool for a little while. Not the black supremist Nation but just an ass kicking one. I think the rumors were R Truth and someone else joining him, dont remember.
-
I'd have Henry only behind Punk and Bryan. Not bad company to be in and he's definitely the best big man in wrestling right now, that i know of at least. I dont know who he'd wrestle at Mania though, maybe Ryback? Bryan would be an awesome match up as they have great chemistry but i dont see that happening.

Man i never saw that match but im glad i didnt now. On paper that sounds like a dream match if Colt brought it. That sucks to hear
-
Not insane at all to me. Henry is a fucking beast

Hey you never know, I'm not sure who else they would even have in mind. Being in msg helps his case -
Yea it was. That was the legitimate high point of the WWE this year for me so far.
-
Yea I was off track on that, my bad. Overwhelmingly obvious though? Cmon man you don't need that many cool points lol
-
You're comparing santinos WWE career to cabanas developmental and scotty Goldman squash matches? What does backstage politics or antics have to do with watching a match and liking a guy better? That's over analyzing it for me. I dont go as deep as that and kudos to you for doing so but I'm going strictly on aesthetics and I like watching cabana a shit ton better than watching santino. I could give two fucks about what he said to Robert Gibson or if he wants to be the honky tonk man etc
-
Just because he's on a WWE roster and cabana Jang doesn't make him better. A guy like otunga isn't better than gallows just because he's on the roster. I personally think otunga is decent just used him for arguments sake
-
That santino is a guy that does his same general stuff better. It was half sarcastic on my part
-
I could do that and usually would in greater detail than anyone on this board as you well know. But it's Cabana. The guy has a good podcast. I think he would be entertaining as a pitchman and/or less talented Don West on commentary. And yes I realize some of his comedic bits pre-date Santino. But Santino is a guy that does his same general stuff better. I'm not sure how much detail I can really go into with this. I like how you say this as if its fact. Good stuff
-
Yea I by no means think he's a main eventer but his style is very different and is a change up especially in the WWE . To me he's just fun to watch, he will usually pull off a nice Exchange of holds and reversals that are simply just fun to see. I would never call him a super worker or anything just a nice ten minute match guy. Kind of like the late 90's wcw Saturday night type of guy with decent Mic skills. He's pretty versatile just see his hardcore stuff with homicide and vs corino and steen and I'm pretty sure he could be a decent base for smaller guys although I can't think of an example. He was solid in tags especially SCS vs the briscoes and we all know he can work comedy. I wanna see the homicide, johnny saint tag, Lawler, and maybe pearce matches together and see how different they are. Maybe I'm wrong but he seems to be the perfect mid card babyface and can work a crowd himself. Just because they're mainly 400 person crowds doesnt take away from his overness with them. And lastly he's from Chicago which means he automatically gets a notch on his belt in my book regardless if its biased
-
I dont care to go into detail on why I think cabana is better. I just do. Anything I post could get twisted or argued against no matter how right or wrong it is anyways. Its just my personal preference
-
He's far better and more entertaining than santino even if its strictly comedy stuff
-
Yea i agree, the comedy can get too cute like you said. Especially when you've seen him in the matches against Punk and Homicide where he really brings it. I wish he would save the comedy for places like Hustle and Chikara and maybe resort to being more of a serious ass kicking mat worker. His British matwork influences make him stand out really well if he would just cut some of the comedy out. I sort of half agree on the WWE statement. While i think his first run was anything but flattering i do think he had more potential. I was seeing him regularly at FCW here in Tampa and while he wasnt lighting the place on fire he was still fun to watch. The other half to that would be i dont see him being a top guy like Punk or Bryan though. I think he has more potential than what he showed although its hard to show much when you're getting squashed in two mins on Smackdown. I just think he would be different for the WWE and they could really use him on the roster as someone who would stand out. Doesnt have to be and shouldnt be a top guy but definitely a mid card stalwort IC title type of guy.
