WWE TV 07/22 - 07/28 RAW Reunion! Candice Michelle is back!!!
NintendoLogic replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
As you all know, I've been relatively bullish on Seth's potential to be a company building block despite not really caring for his in-ring work. But that image of him standing forlornly on the outside during the DX group hug is the final nail in the coffin for him being taken seriously as a top guy. There's no way he can recover from that. -

They barely cracked 3 million viewers with the most loaded lineup since Raw 25. And there was actually a drop from the second hour to the third despite saving Austin, Hogan, and Flair until the end. All things considered, the rating has to be seen as a disaster. -

https://variety.com/2019/tv/opinion/vince-mcmahon-wwe-woes-1203273548/ Meltzer has frequently written about how WWE executives have managed to snow investors with excuses and fake metrics. An article like this appearing in a major trade publication, especially one that ran a Vince McMahon puff piece two months ago, indicates that the jig may be up. -
@Jetlag Let me know if you've already seen it and I'll come up with something else.

To be honest, I can't get over how shitty Angelico's ring gear is. I can't think of a single non-masked wrestler who looks good in a full body suit.

WWE TV 07/15 - 07/21 Flipping burgers to become Ambassador

That may be the case now, but look at the three month period after Mania. Feuding with Corbin for months on end right after your coronation would kill anybody out the gate. It doesn't matter if it's Seth, Roman, or Bruno Sammartino. Also, I think Rollins/Lesnar in a straight singles match has serious potential. Since Suplex City became a thing, Brock's best matches have been against smaller opponents who can fly around and bump big. That's Seth to a T. It should be at least as good as Balor/Lesnar. And Lord knows nobody in their right mind wants to see yet another installment of Reigns/Lesnar. They knocked it out of the park in their first meeting, but saying they experienced diminishing returns would be a gross understatement. I would also add that I get the impression Roman has largely checked out mentally and will be joining Dwayne in Hollywood once his contract is up. -
I still find Jay White kind of dull in the ring, but I respect his commitment to being a completely unlikable scumbag and not doing anything cool or entertaining.

It makes absolutely zero difference who the top face is when the top heels are Shane McMahon and Baron Corbin. -
KENTA/Tanahashi had plenty of good stiff offense, told a strong story, and never felt overly choreographed or cooperative. It wouldn't be a MOTY most years, but that's enough to put it right near the top in 2019. Plus, KENTA kicking Tanahashi in the back of the head during his air guitar routine was my favorite thing to happen in a wrestling ring this year.

Really enjoyable show overall. You know, if you only watched the PPVs, you'd probably think WWE was pretty good right now.
-
Not even kendo sticks can make the audience care about this match.

Does Lacey have a bloody mouth?
-
That was the best Joe singles match in forever. Kofi trying the Bret Hart counter to the sleeper and Joe countering with an uranage was especially awesome.
-
Is Owens blown up after a 10 second match?
-
Fuck me, we still have a fucking Dolph Ziggler match to get through. Jesus Christ.
-
Nobody could have predicted that all the straight wrestling matches on an Extreme Rules show would die in front of a Philadelphia crowd.
-
If Stomping Grounds is any indication, this is the point where the show falls off a cliff.
-
I think opening with the Undertaker match killed the crowd.
-
Fuck this crowd for sitting on their hands during this awesome tag match.
-
There are few things I hate more than "extreme" tag matches where the illegal competitors stay in their corners and make no attempt to interject themselves in the match. What, are they afraid of being disqualified?
-
Ah, yes. The true mark of a sadist: the top wristlock.
-
Doesn't Priestley have a track record of injuring people in Stardom?
-
I need to watch it again before I can say for certain, but KENTA/Tanahashi might be my current MOTY.

Interesting how heavily AEW is pushing CIMA as a living legend. It's the kind of thing that could significantly help him in WON HOF voting.
