The key difference is that WWE treats contracts as a one-way street that only impose binding obligations on the other party. Tony has always held up his end and only terminated people for cause, so it's not unreasonable to expect the wrestlers he signs to do likewise. Plus, granting releases to everyone to asks for one would effectively reward WWE for contract tampering. The bigger takeaway is that wrestlers should never sign multi-year deals unless they're certain it's the last one they'll ever sign.

Maybe Tony ended up being convinced by all the criticism of running mask vs. career with hardly any build.

Someone on Reddit suggested that he and Hangman form a Wild West gunslinger tag team, which is actually brilliant.

Pretty much everybody in Mexico wrestles for peanuts relative to top stars in the US and Japan, which is why foreign bookings are such a precious commodity. One of CMLL's big advantages in that regard was the New Japan connection, but that's largely dried up due to COVID. Also, there's still a strong mentality (or at least there was a decade or so ago) that Arena Mexico is the cathedral of lucha libre and you haven't really made it until you've worked there.

If nothing else, bringing in guys whose only loyalty is to a paycheck makes it likely that some of them will try to undermine the company from within, like when Bobby Fish tried to convince Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly to ask for their releases so they could all go back to WWE.

WWE TV 10/03 - 10/09 Being Brazilian is suffering

Hey, at least you don't live in Florida. Speaking of which... -
Haven't Philly crowds actually been pretty bad for a while now? Looking back, it looks like the 2015 Rumble pretty much killed the town.

One of those individuals whose life story would seem too preposterous to allow for suspension of disbelief if it were presented as fiction. There will never be another one like him, that's for sure.

You mean a back injury, right, bubba? In all seriousness, as painful as yesterday's game was for me as a Dolphins fan, I hope it sheds some necessary light on the NFL's concussion protocol. As it stands, it's an even bigger joke than WWE's Wellness Policy.

I hear Austin Aries is on the short list of potential challengers. .....I'll show myself out.

They can continue the trend of Bret Hart tributes by having PCO steal Jericho's jacket.

He also had one of the coolest nicknames in baseball history: The Capital Punisher. That'd be a great nickname for a wrestler from the DC area. Maybe Nyla Rose.

Maybe they'll put you on the Jaguars payroll like WCW putting Hogan's salary in a different division of Turner Broadcasting.

WWE TV 09/26 - 10/02 49ers vs Broncos was the worst fucking thing

I fully support the White Rabbit stuff leading to the creation of a self-contained universe of suck where Bray Wyatt and Karrion Kross can LORE to their hearts' content without contaminating the rest of the roster. -
The behavior of Twitter eggs notwithstanding, the fact remains that multiple people, including Black, asked to be released and were denied. Combine that with the revelation that WWE has been reaching out to AEW talent and it isn't hard to put two and two together.

They're just paying tribute to the booking of his hero Kawada.

Even if Black or Matthews or whoever else think they'll get a better shake in WWE with Uncle Paul in charge, he's still a guy with a history of heart problems in a high-stress position. He's one medical emergency away from being replaced by Nick Khan or Stephanie, in which case all bets are off. Tony needs to make it clear that if anyone is unhappy in AEW, he'll send them home and let them sit out the remainder of their contracts. But no one gets an early release to jump ship.

I just saw the Julia Hart table bump. Jesus Christ.

Again though, why does it have to be a locker room rumor that led to people thinking Punk wanted Cabana out of AEW? That's the inference any sentient observer would have made when Cabana disappeared from AEW TV and then got sent to ROH after Punk arrived. Spreading false rumors to get people to think what they naturally would have thought on their own would be supremely idiotic.

Hogan did have a documented history of reneging at the last minute after agreeing to do business, perhaps most notably against Tenryu in SWS. There was also reason to fear he'd get cold feet because he was WCW's biggest merchandise seller and there was no way of knowing nWo merch would blow up the way it did.

Omega's MMA career is at least as successful as Punk's. https://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Tyson-Smith-22395 Yes, the Severn fight actually happened, although it looks like it was clearly worked.

If there was legitimate concern that Punk was liable to fly off the the handle at the slightest provocation, swarming into his locker room unannounced was just about the worst possible way to defuse the situation. If the Elite really are management, they need to be held to a higher standard. Part of being a leader is knowing how to deal with people, including head cases, and not just throwing your weight around.
