Danielson is also good friends with Kane and even campaigned for him in Tennessee. Maybe he's just as bad a judge of character as he is a great wrestler.

The latest Observer says Punk's promo on Dynamite was a receipt for an interview Hangman gave before DON talking about saving AEW from Punk. If true, that's absolutely diabolical because it put Hangman in a no-win situation. If he stays in the back, he looks like a coward. If he comes out and accepts, it looks like the inmates are running the asylum. Maybe the greatest political hit job since Rock went off-script and called Kevin Nash Big Daddy Bitch.

Meltzer is reporting that most of the UK crew that wasn't moved to the US got the ax. So they'll be starting up almost entirely fresh.

Come on now, the Buckshot is a perfectly cromulent finisher. It looks impactful enough, and the way it's set up means you can practically build an entire match around teases and counters.

Looks like WK is back to being a one-night event, which is probably for the best. Doing it over multiple nights only really works if you have a strong storyline to build around. The Double Gold Dash, sure. Ibushi losing the briefcase and getting a title match anyway because reasons, not so much.

I'm pretty sure the quiet Japanese fans talking point comes from Western fans whose first exposure to puro was New Japan juniors matches. Outside of junior-centric shows like the Super J Cup, crowds did largely sit on their hands and offer little more than polite applause for those matches, particularly during the obligatory time-killing matwork in the opening minutes. That was especially true at the Tokyo Dome, which has notoriously terrible acoustics. -
Captain Charisma has become Captain Notalgia.

WOS matches tended to favor comedy and slick grappling because the TV audience consisted mainly of children and grannies and the concern was that anything too violent or aggressive would scare them off. With that said, matches with serious heat did sneak through on occasion. Check this out. -
It should be noted that seemed a lot more impressive back before everyone knew that aikido was a fake martial art.

No, it was an honest-to-God riot. It led to New Japan being banned from Sumo Hall for over a year. As @Ma Stump Puller stated, though, the actual cause was a booking bait-and-switch. The advertised main event, and the match the fans were clearly most eager to see, was Inoki vs. Riki Choshu. Long story short, massive amounts of fuckery ensued and caused the card to change. Inoki/Choshu did take place, but it went six minutes and ended with a run-in.

It was only a matter of time before Dark Brandon turned his attention to the wrestling realm.
-
Probably because the last time there was, it caused a riot.

According to Finkel's Observer bio, he was the best play-by-play man the WWF had in the mid-80s. When Larry Matysik praised his work in that regard, he told him that guys like him weren't what the company was looking for no matter how good they were.

I guess he finally got over Colon helping Brody's murderer get off scot-free.
-
With the beard, he's a dead ringer for The Gambler. I'm not sure which is worse.
-
My guess is it's more a reflection of the industry. A few months ago, DDP talked about how hardly anybody in the business went to Gene Okerlund's funeral. And it was in Florida, where like 99% of all wrestlers past or present live.

Mike Barton was part of some legit great matches in Japan after leaving the WWF. And he was teaming with the likes of Johnny Ace and Jim Steele, so it wasn't simply a matter of him letting his partner do the heavy lifting. -

Billy isn't even the best member of the Smoking Gunns. I feel like it'd be harder to list long-time tag wrestlers who are worse than him. Stevie Ray? Titus O'Neil? Crush? The Harris Brothers? -
I know you didn't say that, which is why my comment wasn't addressed to you.

The least talented Armstrong is the one who became the biggest star and had the most enduring career. Go figure. -
Complaining about Christian taking TV time away from younger talent misses the point because the whole reason he's on TV is to get younger talent over. The point of the Jungle Boy feud is to make him someone the audience has an emotional connection with as opposed to simply liking him because he does cool moves. It's basically a rehash of the Bret Hart/Jerry Lawler feud.
-
Christian strikes me as a case of being a much better worker as a face but a much better character as a heel. Regardless, he's made it clear that he's the better half of E&C. Say what you want about him going for the gusto with cheap heat, it beats the hell out of Edge's mountain of omnipotence or whateverthefuck.

Bringing in Madison Rayne to help coach the women is certainly a choice.

Supposedly, Brody's plan was to go to the WWF and end his career with one last big-money run with Hogan once he was too broken-down for Japan.
