Shota's actually facing Moxley for the title at Resurgence (technically he's facing the winner of Moxley/Narita at Dontaku, but come on). I'd be shocked if they pulled the trigger on a title change, but I'd also be pretty impressed. Either way, they need to shit or get off the pot with the Musketeers. Having them continually face top guys and come up short every time is only going to make fans give up on them.

It was well-known that Dory Sr. didn't want his son to drop the title to another babyface and to Brisco in particular. Brisco himself thought the latter might have been due to personal animosity or Texas pride in not wanting to put over an Oklahoman. Two days before the scheduled title change, the NWA received word that Dory Jr. had separated his shoulder after rolling his truck on the family ranch and would be out of action indefinitely. The Funks swore up and down the injury was legitimate and even produced medical records, but there was plenty of skepticism for obvious reasons. Race was agreed upon as the transitional champion because he was a legit tough guy who could guarantee that everything would go according to plan and because Kansas City promoter Bob Geigel and Dory Sr. were longtime friends.

We're so back.

I agree that the main motivation is probably to keep the merchandise gravy train rolling for as long as possible. Because there's not much else you can do with a Wyatt-less Wyatt Family. They're like the Dark Order after Brodie Lee died.

Erick Rowan pulled out of an indy booking due to what the promotion described as "new contractual obligations." Looks like he's going back to the E.

The overrun is a relic of the Monday Night Wars when Raw and Nitro were in a dogfight for ratings. This was before DVR, so strict adherence to timeslots wasn't a concern. And there wasn't anything on other channels at 11 PM on a Monday night to be worried about unless the MNF game was going down to the wire. Even after the war ended, the overrun was usually the highest-rated part of the show because viewers had been conditioned to expect the major angles to take place then. That stopped being the case after Raw expanded to three hours. By that point, though, the overrrun had been around or so long that people who grew up on it entered the business and figured that was just the way things were done because it was all they knew. -
Tama Tonga looks like he's been saying his prayers and eating his vitamins.

Per the latest Observer, Austin was supposed to be the one who took out Rock at the end, but they were too far apart on money and Undertaker took his place.

Using the All In footage as part of an angle makes the Elite's refusal to work with Punk look even worse in retrospect. And if airing the footage was intended even partially to embarrass Punk, it failed miserably. He wasn't shown up at all in the scuffle, nor did he look so out of control that he clearly had to be fired. To top it all off, the crowd was chanting for the guy the company was trying to bury. Just a massive self-own all around.

He was obviously best known for his sumo career, but I liked his tag team with Ryota Hama. Not much you can say, really. The human body just isn't meant to carry that much mass.

ECW was never even close to profitable, so I hope TK would know better than to adopt them as a business model.
-
Even the most pro-Punk accounts of what happened backstage at All In describe him as the one who initiated the confrontation with Perry and escalated it physically, so it's pretty inconceivable that the footage would paint him in a positive light. And even if the primary purpose of airing the footage is to advance an angle, I'm sure a desire to stick it to Punk played a role as well. Mature wrestling promoters are so rare they might as well not exist.

Don't forget Tama Tonga. Rock considers Haku to be his Uncle Tonga, and if Haku says he's part of the family, are you going to tell him no?
-
In fairness, he does have a pretty amazing dropkick. It's no surprise that most of his best matches feature them as the focal point of his offense.

Being a goober is Seth's natural state. Anyway, it's worth remembering that the NWA champion only came to most territories a few times a year and wasn't making the top babyfaces looks like chumps week after week. It should also be noted that Dusty Rhodes drew well as NWA champ. But the old-line promoters wouldn't allow him to have a long reign because they were set in their ways and he didn't fit their mold of what a champion should be. Historically, the biggest problem facing babyfaces who end long heel title reigns has been the lack of fresh challengers because the other heels on the roster are usually the guys he beat to build himself up for a title shot. That isn't remotely the case for Cody with how loaded the roster is. As a side note, that's why the Royal Rumble is arguably a superior method for establishing a new champion. Anyone he eliminates instantly becomes a potential future challenger, and tossing someone from the ring in a battle royal isn't nearly the same as beating them in a one-on-one wrestling match so it's still a fresh matchup.

Only allowing Peacock Plus subscribers to see the pre-match promo videos is some bullshit. It's enough of a hype killer that I'm thinking about turning the show off.
-
Not gonna lie, those MLB belts look pretty swank.
-
This match is rather tedious.

I haven't seen AJ wrestle in a while, so I'm happy to see he still has something in the tank. I love how all the matches tonight have been short-ish bombfests.

Did anyone else just see an ad for boner pills?

That wasn't a classic wrestling match by any means, but between the layout and Snoop's commentary, I had a smile on my face the whole time. Night 2 is overdelivering in a big way.
-
Snoop Dogg has instantly become my favorite commentator.

Credit where credit is due, that was one hell of a match. Just chucking bombs at each other while not going long enough to overstay their welcome. Seth kicking out of three claymores was a bit excessive, but the fact that the fourth one put him down mitigated it. This is the second year in a row a Rollins Mania match has greatly exceeded my expectations.

If only the match could have ended there.

No-showing his own HOF induction might be the most Sabu thing Sabu has ever done.
