I haven't watched WWE in so long I can't remember the name of the team that interfered at the end (I've had the sound off since the end of the first Rumble)

Does McAfee just tweet and scroll his phone the whole match and only occasionally look up and say something, often stuff that's already been said?

Ugh, Flair looks barely better than her old man

Wade Barrett railing against the "dirt sheets" like it's 1995

I do like the use of live stats along the bottom

In other empire crumbling news, Linda McMahon's confirmation hearing expected "as early as next week". Could be fun

I've put together a few playlists recently for Dump and 70s/80s/90s Joshi in general, in chronological order

I've been putting together an ongoing playlist of full Boom! shows

I just found out this Randy Savage video that dropped about 10 days ago contains the long sought after (in certain circles) match vs Taker from 1991 Starts at 1:07:00

Yeah, as far as board activity goes, if it wasn't for the European threads, this place would be as dead as I've ever seen it. Even with the European threads it probably is. Hell, Kawada has even given up. I've made my opinions known about WWE somewhat recently. I haven't cared in years and I dont think I will care again anytime soon, if ever. I don't care about Cody. I don't care about the Bloodline. I don't care about guys who have been around for a million years. I'm sure it's awesome without the scumbag around. I don't care. On the positive side I do care about 80s and early 90s Joshi these days, though my overall wrestling viewing is still very low

I remember really liking Fuji vs Strongbow the only time I watched it years ago, but I realize my overall love for 70s WWWF means I'm much more forgiving when judging certain matches and workers than the average viewer

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Ricky Jackson replied to TravJ1979's topic in Pro Wrestling
The Montreal Screwjob was definitely the day the music died for me, being such a die hard Bret fan at the time. Plus I was actually living in Calgary. It was like having a favorite team leave the city. I never cared again like I had cared from 1992-1997. Still, I was into Austin, Mankind/Foley, and the emerging Rock. That, and just the return of blood and chaos, along with wrestling being "cool" again, powered my fandom through 1998 and into 99, even with my beloved Bret being wasted in WCW -

I'm coming up on 5 years sober from WWE programming. Royal Rumble 2020 was the last show I watched. No Mania's. No Raw or Smackdown. No NXT. Not even a single cherry picked match. My AEW watching over the same time consists of Revolution 2020 (a month after that Rumble), All Out 2021, the last half or so of Forbidden Door 2023, Danielson vs Ospreay from earlier this year, and a few random bits here and there (Punk's debut promo, etc). Can't say I have much of an itch for anything modern, although I do occasionally attend Boom! shows in Vancouver (but that's mostly out of loyalty to one of my best and oldest friends, who is heavily involved). I'm sure something will suck me back in eventually As for the Attitude Era, I really enjoyed the lead up years, especially 1997, and most of 1998, but totally lost interest after Mania XV. I doubt I'll ever revisit or watch anything I missed. The McMahon doc reminded me how much I hated all the McMahon family crap, and I could go the rest of my life without seeing anything with Undertaker, HHH, Rock, and post 1998 Austin tbh -
Just finished. Bruce whining at the end was pathetic. But I guess in his mind Vince really is the greatest man who ever lived. Most of the series felt like a WWE history doc from one of their DVDs, but this was mostly for non wrestling, or lapsed, fans anyway. It's also the story of Vince without the true final chapter, so the end of the series just kinda trails off

Yeah, that's what came to mind almost immediately after I posted

What was the context of the clip where Vince says "come out here you rapist!"? (ep 4) Ever since I saw it I can't stop cracking up every time I think about it

Yeah, I'm pretty hyped for that. I've finally dipped into classic Joshi the last few months and absolutely love the wild 80s brawls with Dump, Bull and co. -
[1983-12-26-WWF-MSG, NY] Bob Backlund vs Iron Sheik
Ricky Jackson replied to SmartMark15's topic in December 1983
Yeah, just watched this again recently. Masterful selling performance from Bob here. Ironic this is how his long reign ends, considering a typical Bob title defense saw him wrestling on top for the vast majority of the match -
I believe the comparison of Backlund and Wanz I was making was to them taking 80% of a match and not anything to do with similar styles
