  1. I remember being really surprised when I was like 9, but I was at a friend's house with like 3 other kids roughly my age so we probably wouldn't have been paying attention to commentary even if I had been old enough to catch on.
  2. The fan in the middle of the screen right after Rude wins is hypnotic. Wearing a fanny pack, doing the Rude hip swivel. I had to rewind it like 4 times.
  3. Little-remembered Bill Watts rule: "No serpents at ringside"
  4. No one even flinched when he called that one (black) guy "Kunta". Times have changed.
  5. I've seen Flair vs. Warrior, I think they did something on house shows, but I've never seen Ramon vs. Warrior...though they may have done it too.
  6. The one guy is practically in tears, possibly because the manager keeps rubbing his chest.
  7. If I were Bret, I would never take off those glasses.
  8. Bizarre. It's like listening to one half of a conversation and trying to figure out what's being said. Except here you're hearing both sides.
  9. This was really cool and good to see that they didn't just use it as an excuse to bury all the talent that was in the WWF at the time, as these type of segments usually do.
  10. I was pretty happy about this when I was a kid because I was at that age where I started to favour the heels, but still had a few of my old "favourites" that were babyfaces. Pillman was one of those guys so I thought he was really cool again. It is pretty out of place in retrospect, though. BUT...sweet vest on Pillman.
  11. Dundee's denim jacket is just gorgeous.
  12. Some great promos there. And I loved Jimmy Hart's Arsenio reference.
  13. I'm a girl so I can relate to the big blowup with a friend only to apologise and kiss and make-up and be BFFs the next day. I'm not an expert on this, but I think I'm right in thinking that a lot of young women watched AJW. So I think the booking may have been geared to their female fanbase. That's why I actually really liked the ending where Toyota throws herself on the proverbial cross and it gives her some of the sympathy. And yes, speaking as a girl, losing your hair is horrible. You don't see a lot of females in masks so the hair is a logical thing to put on the line and losing it would suck which is why the wig business is a multi-million dollar business for women that lose hair for whatever (unfortunate) reason. Also, ask ANY woman that gets a bad haircut...the WORST part is all the bad hair days you have while you wait for it to grow back.
  14. I was 9 at the time and even I realised Perfect was just screwing around with them.
  15. I vividly remember watching this after school. In fact, I'd say one of the first things I searched for when I got the internet was information about this stupid match. Crazy how well I remember what was essentially 3 minutes of watching a yellow cage rocking. Though the post-match was great where Chaz proclaims that he saw his "life flash between my eyes" and then announces that the Road Warriors thought of the phrase "What A Rush!" under similar circumstances. He "need not say no more".
  16. I didn't see that one coming at all at that time. And that fan IS indeed golden.
  17. The makers of Scarface shoulda sued. I mean...he even used the "world and everything in it" line!
  18. Carlito comparisons abound.
  19. It was going down a Deliverance path when he started talking about his eye colour.
  20. His name was Ron Oakes...or as Maclin would call him "THE HO'NET"
  21. This match obviously isn't as vicious now after everything we've seen (including most of what we've seen from Foley himself), but when you compare it to what else was going on in the US at the time, you can see why it has such a good rep.
