Scorpio puts over ECW and their wrestlers and that he is happy to be here. I thought he was a bit more arrogant in his promos but maybe that is to come.

[1994-06-07-CMLL] Ciclon Ramirez vs Javier Cruz (Hair vs Hair)
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1994
I don’t know who is who but one of these guys seems be doing some type of Drunken Master as he is falling all over himself outside the ring and takes off his robe while lying down on the floor. He seems fine once they get in the ring. Cool dive that they go into the crowd on. First two falls happen pretty quickly. These guys just launch themselves in their dives. Wow. Very deliberate count by referee. But at least he is consistent. Senton attempt comes up empty with a bump that doesn’t seem pleasant to the back. Another dive into the crowd and those chairs did not have a whole lot of give. Ouch. I’m a novice to Lucha but damn was this good. -
[1994-06-11-WCW-Saturday Night] Ray Traylor and the Guardian Angels
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1994
Extensive video package with Boss Man doing lots of things with the Guardian Angels. That was a pretty high dropped they were jumping down from. Looks like one of the last guys twisted an ankle when he landed.- 6 replies

[1994-06-11-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Ric Flair
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1994
Bravo to Flair for completely caling out Okerlund for lusting after Hogan soon to debut in WCW. Flair thinks him versus Sting is more important and that Hogan should work up the ladder versus other wrestlers. Okerlund doesn’t understand why Flair is so upset about Hogan coming in.- 6 replies

[1994-06-04-SMW-TV] Interview: Dirty White Boy / Interview: Jake Roberts
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1994
Dirty White Boy’s promo was awesome. No screaming or yelling needed here. He’s really broken up about not being able to protect his wife. Jake is good also, again not taking responsibility for his actions but hard to top DWB’s promo. -
[1994-06-04-USWA-TV] Dream Machine & Eddie Gilbert vs Headshrinkers
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1994
Samu catches Dream Machine with a decent powerslam. Otherwide pretty lackluster from the footage shown. -
[1994-05-22-JWP-Super Major Queens] Aja Kong vs Dynamite Kansai
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
Interesting referee gear. Starts off well and they are kicking each other pretty hard. Then it seems like they agree to not do that anymore or something. When they go to the mat for so long it just drags. Kansai is hung upside down on the turnbuckle and Aja charges in but Dynamite punches her in the face. That was cool. Kong does her multiple piledrivers in a row that I don’t like. Last few minutes were pretty good though. Too bad there wasn’t more to match leading up to it.- 16 replies

La Parka looking for the mount and continuing to get taken down was fun. Liked his comedy selling of the spinning backbreaker. He also kicks the ropes in frustration which causes teammate Heavy Metal to fall down. Parka tries to sell a low blow when he gets bulldogged. I believed him! Sagrada launches Estrade at one point with a monkey flip into the ropes. I didn’t see what set La Parka and Psicosis but they get testy for a few seconds. I also barely noticed the second fall. Everyone seemed so nonchalant. Seemed to slow down a bit as match went on until we get the dives near end of the match. Good match but like the first fall the best. Agree on Santo, he was nearly invisible in this match. Seems like when there are multiple guys in the ring, he is off on the apron.

[1994-06-03-AJW-Grand Prix] Manami Toyota vs Sakie Hasegawa
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1994
Toyota being all bendable like that did do a lot for those submission attempts and this did have a different feel compared to the other stuff I've seen of hers. I think my lack of Joshi knowledge hurts the significance of this upset. I can see from Hasegawa's reaction that this means a lot to her and I do enjoy when wrestlers shoe excitement about wins but overall I barely know enough about her to feel as strongly.- 7 replies

[1994-06-03-AJW-Grand Prix] Yumiko Hotta vs Toshiyo Yamada
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1994
Lots and lots of kicks here mixed in with submissions. Looks like this will be mostly matt based but towards the ends they starting busting out suplexes and powerbombs which was kind of random as they weren’t really building to that. They should have just stuck to the kicks/submissions as a potential finish since they invested so much time in that doing them. -
[1994-06-03-AJPW-Super Power Series] Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1994
Crowd is pumped to say the least. Back in 2002, I want to say that this is one of the first puro matches I ever seen which in hindsight isn’t right as I should have watch other stuff to wet my appetite before seeing a match like this. But what the heck did I know at that point anyways. It was also like the last 10 or 15 minutes of the match which just isn’t right. I ended up picking up a random VHS comp tape later in the year that had match but it was still JIP. Wouldn’t be until many years later that I would get to see it in full. I was also able to watch some of their earlier singles matches and some of the tag stuff which helps make an awesome match on it’s own even better. The crowd is fantastic in this match jumping around in the ailse on two counts. Just one of those matches that had everything and I love just watching this every so often. I am so emotionally invested in Bret/Owen that I will always have a big favortism to what they were doing in 1994, otherwise this would be match of the year. But it is closing the gap over time. I have always read about how the wrong guy won in this match. Is this the Kawada fans speaking out or was he legitimately ready at this point to beat Misawa and have a run with the Title? He doesn’t beat Misawa for the Triple Crown for another four years. That’s just too long in the end but I have always been curious about this booking decision.- 49 replies

Honda looks so different here from what I remember him looking like in NOAH. Kobashi and Taue in the ring provide some good stuff. Honda just feels like he don’t belong in this match. Would be fine with a smaller crowd. Though there is a nice segment of him making the ropes after being in a submission. Last few minutes do pick up and it’s a fine undercard match but still not sure why yearbook worthy.

[1994-06-01-NJPW] Shinya Hashimoto vs Yoshiaki Fujiwara
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in June 1994
Alright to me. Not every match needs to be completely smooth in execution. Fujiwara isn't one of my favorites but I also haven't seen enough of him to really get him. He does good stuff like showing the difficulty in putting the arm bar on Hash. Seemed like he kicked out before the three count but I guess the referee it saying his shoulders were still down which is hard to tell from the camera angle view.- 21 replies

Mikey character was a great fit for ECW at this time. He wants to give up the title to avoid further beatings. Cute.

[1994-05-30-WWF-Raw] King's Court: Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and Diesel
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
Stu and Helen are favorite targets of Jerry. He seemed lost on commentary once Bret went to WCW. Lawler gets wise with Bret before he introduces his other guests on the King’s Court. Set up with Diesel hitting the Jacknife. Couldn’t help but notice Shawn standing higher (with the use of a chair) than Diesel holding up the WWF Title. -
[1994-05-30-NJPW-Best of the Super Juniors] Jushin Liger vs Super Delphin
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
My first thought was Liger got some new ring gear before realizing that it was Super Delphin. Just feel like he is asking for it taunting Liger on the fake dive attempt. Delphin gets a lot of offense and controls the match a bit too much for my liking but he does get the crowd behind him. Cameramen are blocking the view on some of the outside dives. Some nice kick outs at the end before Liger puts him away. Crowd were very appreciate of Delphin. -
[1994-05-28-WCW-Saturday Night] Steven Regal vs Larry Zbyszko
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
Watching this match as part of the yearbook makes me appreciate it a bit more since we get to see a variety of all types of wrestling. Regal has been great on this yearbook so far and he is here again. Both guys work a lot of holds and good looking counterholds. I don’t get why Sir William got up on the apron at the end with Regal was the one in control with the sleeper in the middle of the ring. Also, thought there was suppose to be a fifteen minute time limit on on Television title defenses. Regal would have a case here to be annoyed with this finish.- 9 replies

[1994-05-28-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Hulk Hogan
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
Hogan looks subdued at first when Gene is talking but immediately goes into full Hulkamania mode. I would love to have seen what those actual WCW hotline results were regarding Hogan returning to wrestling.- 6 replies
