  1. Fantastic match. Kawada hangs in there as long as possible dodging the backdrop driver and other big moves. I love when Wiliams goes for the big move and the crowd just freaks out each time. Kawada's kicks allow him to take over the match and he gives Williams quite the beating at the end. Williams comes off looking great in this match and tournament. Kawada had to give him everything to put him away at the end. Rewarding match to see from beginning to end.
  2. Commentary is a mess. The live crowd gives this match a boost. Kobashi and Baba are great. Love seeing Baba get up for these matches as just looks like he is having a lot of fun in there. Pretty cool chop exchange between Kobashi and Baba. Hansen and Kobashi have their moments also. Misawa seems to be just there and going through the motions. One of the few times I have seen the Orange Crush from Kobashi. There was better stuff in the Carnival but this did have it's fun moments.
  3. For me, these two are entertaining to watch against one another. Williams press slams Kobashi and throws him awkwardly over the the ropes to the floor. The announcer gets a good laugh out of that. That didn't fit for AJPW. Lots of Kobashi blocking/avoiding the big moves of Williams. Kobashi gets in his big move the moonsault but Williams kicks out. Big tease for the backdrop with Williams finally pulling it off. Fun match with a story that works for Kobashi/Williams.
  4. Taue starts with the left arm but then moves on to the knee. Good sequence with the Stretch Plum where it looked like Kawada was going to get the submission but Taue holds on and makes the ropes. Last few minutes were good. Nice match.
  5. Promising start as was looking forward to seeing this match. The crowd is quite vocal here. Just random people yelling out Hansen for a good portion of the match. Action feels pretty slow at times. Finish came out of nowhere with Hansen hitting the clothesline. Wasn’t ready for that. Not as good of a match as I was expecting.
  6. Ha, Lawler takes a great comedic bump here. Duane Gill would have had a lot of trouble pulling this duty for King Mabel.
  7. Obviously the best is to come between these two later this year but this did it’s job on wetting my appetite for the June match. It felt a bit slow starting out and it was pretty obvious they were going to a time limit drawing considereing the circumstances. Last third of match gets pretty good. They aren’t sprinting to a finish and neither man shows the urgency to get the win but there is some solid back and forth action. Still ends up being the lesser of the matches between the two but more to look forward to.
  8. To me this match was all about Hansen. From the opening bell he is already selling the ribs from the previous match. Great facials and selling by Hansen throughout the match. He looks like he is just laboring out there. Hits a powerbomb but due to his ribs he is unable to follow it up with the pin. Haven't seen it before but I still felt that Hansen would have a tough time winning this one. Whether that was the intent to stack the odds against him but it did kind of take some of the surprise away from when Taue actually picked up the victory.
  9. Audio for the crowd was a bit weird as they seemed very silent and they there was a noticeable change in the volume for them. This felt different after watching the Hansen match but it was still good. I figure this match would be in Kobashi's favor but it's pretty even between the two for a while with Jun getting alot of offense in.
  10. This was fantastic. What a ride. Hansen beats up Kobashi early but eats guard rail with a reckless should tackle attempt off the apron. His selling of the ribs the rest of the match is great as it has such a big effect on him attempting various moves. Kobashi uses some great looking punches to Hansen and repeatedly attacks his ribs. Hansen finally hits the lariat which I think ends it but he can't make the cover. Kobashi comes with two moonsaults and gets the win. Not expecting that one! Great crowd response after that match for Kobashi.
  11. Gene is back to stirring things up between Flair and Steamboat who are both good here. I like them in this setting. Steamboat calls out Flair about his offer to sit ringside to watch Ric wrestle since they already have had so much history together. Flair comes out for his match but first takes a shot at Tony and then wrestles in his suit! Get a really intense face to face which I liked since they didn't resort to going to blows. But then Flair smacks Steamboat in the face! That was great. Flair/Steamboat has picked up alot in the last couple segments between them.
  12. This was overproduced and not very good. The punch/kick sound effects were corny but also had piped in crowd cheering which was probably more irritating.
  13. Nice promo by Cactus who has his head all wrapped up. He acknowledges and puts over Vader for what happened in Germany. He then focuses on the Nasty Boys, giving them credit for what they have done to him physically also.
  14. Yay, Gene behaves and doesn't mention Hogan. I like them talking about the previous history with Flair and Steamboat. Ric puts Steamboat over as one of the best but of course points out that he is currently the best.
  15. I thought Cornette's mom was on the board! She must have got out voted. Love this Cornette promo. He seems so believable in how devastated he is to lose to the Rock n' Roll in the end and have his team leave in SMW. Cool way to end and last part is great watching the Bodies walk away down the hallway. Got to think the biggest Rock n' Roll fans were feeling this would miss not having the Bodies around.
  16. Oh my! Van Horn is saying some fun stuff but I can't help but be completely distracted by Prince Kharis. What were they thinking? Few years too soon before those Mummy Movies in the late 90's. Dirty White Boy comes out and his reaction to Kharis is funny. He thinks Kharis is a joke and pretty much says what everyone thinking. He knocks Kharis off his feet right away too.
  17. Did Bedlam forget Bob Armstrong's name or was that intended? I really couldn't tell. This was Jimmy introducing Bedlam. Not the greatest Cornette promo but him trying to give us some of the background of Bruiser Bedlam.
  18. They do try order a couple beers first but seeing they are on camera, they switch it up to a glass of milk. Jericho comes off as goof getting turned down by girls and kicked out of the bar. Jericho gets wasted drinking two Bud Lights.
  19. Eddie comes off as a heel to me in this segment. He goes out and picks a tag team partner who is not his brother though he wants him to be the special referee. Doug tries to talk about getting burned by fireball and Eddie is having none of it.
  20. I would think Eddie would run after his brother to aid him after throwing a fireball in his face. The house mic is tough to hear. Extended post match beat down of everyone.
  21. I don't like unprotected chair shots to the head but it does looks silly when a guy gets his hands up completely and it doesn't even come near his head. Stick to just hitting each other in the body guys. My first taste of Billy Joe Travis. Remember him from the Apter mags.
  22. They must be disappointed that April 15th is approaching and they can't do anymore of these vignettes.
  23. Shawn starts off by saying Bret gets all the title shots. We get a brief tease of a challenge for Diesel against Bret for the title. But Bret hasn't forgotten about Owen and ready to take on all challengers. Hmm, I didn't even pick up on Bret's tights changing colors.
  24. I liked the Heartbreak Hotel. Shawn feeds Diesel some one liners. Michaels steps aside so Diesel can challenge Razor for the IC Title. That is very nice of Shawn.
